    I'm a newly qualified PWP. Know that NHS England recently announced that newly qualified PWP or HI therapists need to wait 2 years until they can apply go get on to a clinical doctorate. This is to retain a larger PWP workforce.

      I swear this has backfired and forcing a lot of people to leave iapt, pwp and psychology…a lot of my cohort have already left the role 6months post qualifying and are doing something completely different. It is a hard role 2 years is a big ask

      Also now there are fewer trainee High Intensity CBT roles available so there is a risk that even if you make it to 2 years full time the progression to Step 3 may not be guaranteed by then

    I'm really interested in applying but have read a few ogs on pwps that have said they're working all day all evening and all weekend catching up with course work. Seems like yhe only break you get is when you sleep! Please can you clarify if it is this stressful and time consuming? X

      It looks like you need to do a PGcert which takes a year whilst you work. So 3 modules equalling 60 credits.

      I qualified 6 months ago… yes. Is the answer. But I did it whilst holding another job (the trainee wage just isn’t enough) so I’m probably not a typical case… but your services and uni are there to support you :)

      I think psychology is good, I guess you could look at doing more educational? But I swear it’s whatever experience u get after counts… so look at getting work experience with children

    Does it mean that the only root is through becoming a PWP assistant first ?

    • @Rodnidge
      @Rodnidge 2 роки тому +1

      It's not necessary but you may be able to start working for an nhs ipat service as an assistant and then have them put you on the trainee pwp course. Or you could move to it from a different profession like nursing or social work.

      Not at all however from working within iapt they favour those who have experience working in iapt BUT it’s not essential

    • @deelot1

      No. I am a qualified PWP for 1 year and myself and other colleagues of mine don't even have a psychology degree. I have a counselling skills qualification and the volunteer work I did that enabled experience of the therapeutic relationship was enough for me to get a TPWP position. Of course, if you had any experience as a APWP or even experience in primary or secondary healthcare setting that will help. I know PWPs who worked as social prescribers at the PCN which helped them get TPWP roles.
