Dear Mike Chen, I am Shimura, the manager of Onokisou. Thank you very much for visiting us the other day. We are delighted to hear that you enjoyed your time with us. It was our pleasure to have you as our guest. We hope you will have the opportunity to visit us again soon. We look forward to welcoming you back to Onokisou. Sincerely, Shimura Manager of Onokisou
These maybe something to smile more about when a thing you know she'd have liked comes up. My condolences for the loss. even if needed to take some time to be away from it for a bit.
So sorry. I lost my Mom on February 3rd. She had Alzheimer's but back a few years ago when she'd hear me talking about a video she'd ask to watch it. I miss that too. Mike is just wonderful. Love him.
I live in Victoria BC Canada 🇨🇦and Japan gifted our queen cherry blossom trees years ago. Now our streets are beautifully lined with them. Shelbourne Street is the most beautiful. 😘😘😘
I remember Mike when he was on another channel. Can't remember the name, Beyond the Great Wall is what my mind came up with but it's been a lot of years. Good to see the channel doing so well.
Thank you Mike for good video! Shizuoka prefecture is where Mt. Fuji is, so their spring water comes from those mountains and known as very high quality soft natural water, or so I heard. You always pick good place to visit. 😚👍
I love it too, except for the crowds. I don’t blame people for visiting the city to view the cherry blossoms, after all I do too, but it’s gotten so crowded that it can be hard to enjoy them. I try to pick times that are less popular, but I give up a lot of the time and just head home.
Another popular UA-camr who recently travelled very close to where I live! Yes, Shizuoka is well known for the early blossoming varieties of sakura. And I'm glad you enjoyed your stay and the food in Umegashima.
The bento 🍱 box look so yummy and some of them look so pretty 🤩 it’s like getting a cute 🥰 present 🎁 that place look so relaxing and nice 😊 I do need to be in a relaxing place to have time for myself. The food wow 😮 what a unique plate
I got a chance to eat intestine chigae from Hansol and honey garlic fried chicken at bb.q my first time at the H Mart Torrance food court. It was really good. Thank you for your videos as a guide.
I would love to see Chinese restaurants giving us a more crispy noodle experience. I often get Cantonese chow mein because it’s full of vegetables and that’s good for you. However, I find that if you order this meal, they drown the noodles in the sauce. I would much prefer Frying their noodles very quickly and then give it to you in a separate container and go easy on the sauce. The texture is mind blowing, and the flavour is great. I would like to preface that these restaurants are in Canada and therefore do not know how to cook a authentic Chinese meals.
You should try izakaya food next time! It's so lovely with all the small dishes, and you don't actually have to drink to get in. I'd love to show around my favorite neighborhood Oimachi in Tokyo for izakaya :D
To be totally honest I'd absolutely love it if we had Bentos here in the states. They look sooooo Good. I'd just buy bentos to eat all the time. They look very satisfying and would fill you up. I would hope they'd be the authentic bentos like Mikey is showing here.

It’s Mike’s jacket over the knob on the end of his seat. When he was setting up the shot before he started recording, he probably saw the guy’s mug in the side. Of the shot and just hang his jacket there to cover it up or I should say cover him up.
just wondering, do you happen to speak any of the languages of the countries you visit? and if not, whats usually the experience and how do you handle navigating and finding things. I plan to travel at some point so insight would be appreciated in that aspect
OMG, the meal you enjoyed looks absolutely amazing. The breakfast also looked great. By the end of the video, I was so hungry! Great video... thank you.
Yeah been there. Accidneatly ate a chunch of wasabi that I did not know was hiding in my dish. Lets just say I spit it out and couldn't eat it for a few days as it blew out my tounge and made it super sensitive for a few days. lol
Glad to have seen the growing of Wasabi. I didn't have any ideas what it truly was although I knew we're not eating the real thing in the west. Thx Mike❤😊
The fish in Japanese is called "amago". Mikey says that in the video. "Amago" is a different species than "ayu". The latin term is "oncorhynchus masou", a type of trout. I guess you call "ayu", "yamame" and "amago" by hhe name "sweetfish" in English because they're all small river fish although they're all different. None of these fish are found outside East Asia.
@@vivida7160 Yep, I did some checking up and realized that amago and ayu aren't the same fish. I'm surprised that there are other fishes that goes by the "sweetfish" name though, especially since ayu was also featured in the very same place later in the video.

How do we book
Your retreat seems like it came right out of a fairytale or anime. It seems so calming and magical. Hope I will have the opportunity to visit one day!
My mom and i loved watching your clips during our meals so much. She passed away last week from cancer. Thanks for bringing smiles to her face.
I'm sorry for your loss. A good memory for you sharing Mike's videos.
I'm so sorry, lost my life partner in November, I know what you're going through

I think Mikey should visit us next time he goes to Richmond.
@@tobynmanthorpe I honestly think he would love seeing what Victoria cousin has to offer. So many great places to eat here in Victoria. 🤗😘
Sounds gay
The hotpot and the congee looked AMAZING. Honestly the whole meal looked awesome.
Japan, the history, tridition, and beauty, mikey you are so bless, don't forget the outstanding food!
Love to watch while eating my meager meal, because it somehow makes everything taste better 😋😚
Lovely Bento boxes, this may be your best Japan video Mike.

The Cherry blossom time in Washington DC is my favorite time of year 🎉

whats the difference between your strictly dumpling and your mike chen channel.. both have food?
@7:30+ Loving the Cowboy Bebop instrumental music. Your videos are always informational, and you tell your truth. 100/100

And please stop saying _shabu_ and say _shabu-shabu_ instead! _Shabu_ on its own means something else entirely (i.e. stimulant drugs).

Im just a small town country boy in Oregon but i have big dreams mostly about food
Those kobe or wagyu beef cubes made my mouth instantly water!
Amazing food
Did you literally eat all 5 of those bentos? That's so much food
Just when I thought we wouldn't get an Umami overload he just couldn't resist. Start the drinking game.
I’m planning my Japan trip. Thanks for ideas.

The thumb nails lately have me thinking it’s an episode Ive already seen. 😂
Yummy
I would have been happy just eating that hot pot, but everything after just kept adding to the experience.
I'm so intrigued by the guy behind Mike with the jacket over his face
I think it’s a jacket over the chair or luggage.
It’s Mike’s jacket over the knob on the end of his seat. When he was setting up the shot before he started recording, he probably saw the guy’s mug in the side. Of the shot and just hang his jacket there to cover it up or I should say cover him up.

Is this hotel in Onsan? When I check it on online I don’t know what town it was. Can you help me?

Why is the top of your head always cut off in every frame?
To hide his haircut? idk

Hey Mike. Every dish gave on the presentation. Just beautiful . Enjoy!! 🐞🤤🤗
Mikey, masterful description of that meal at that ryokan. Bravo.Thank you very much.
Great video
The best shinkansen BENTO BOX wow that looks absolutely scrumptious Mike thank you for the review
Wow appreciate the knowledge on wasabi. You should do more of that
Wasabi's probably among the world's hardest plants to grow, but I heard some of them can be grown outside of Japan
Great review
"Umami" Counter: 17...prove me wrong
Take a shot every time Mikey says umami. Get sauced.

5:18 mikey still calls it konjack 🤣🤦♂
Is that scallop or abalone?
Weird, I get a Starbucks commercial when Mikey is at Starbucks. Glad to see Mikey isn't mixing his Wasabi in soy sauce. We mess up food in America
Wahgoo and shitiki
With all the amount of food he eats, what type of exercise does he do?
Go check his exercise video!

I remember seeing a video on one grower in California that grows real Wasabi.
i have been watching you for years and to this day i am amazed that you dont carry your own cutlery.
Awesome job mike with food vlog drop a likes.
Huh, this is the first time I've heard of another fish that isn't the ayu called a "sweetfish", I wonder if that's just an English translation.

Good afternoon brother & Happy New Year.. dragon 🐲😊! What train were you on??

It's almost spring of course is starting Sakura fever
Nice
Why can't I buy 'fast food', like this in Australia.......
I feel like Mike’s taste and appreciation of different kinds of food have evolved over the years, and I’m here for it
