I'm writing to you here even though I've seen all your videos. Although you show some very interesting tips, I find it very advantageous to use the games you use to show tips about the game. In this particular one, you have spent two rounds with -4 military power without any defense cards, normally you never want to be in that situation because if you are attacked you have thrown away the early. Then you add that it's one of those games where the AI collapses, even having to destroy a laboratory in order to avoid uprising and having corruption that turn. I've had games where the AI plays in an amazing way drowning you every turn that passes, and games where it seems lost, as in this case. I would have liked to see you in a game where they put you in trouble (like game 2 that you play online) even a game where you lost, analyzing what you could have done better.
Rules question. You kinda skipped over this when you replaced Hammurabi with Joan, but can you spend a military action as a civil action with Hammurabi to replace him as a leader?
Great question, and THANK YOU for asking because this really does need to be clarified. Short answer: Yes! You may elect to use a military action as a civil action when replacing your leader, gaining a civil action in the process.

This is a rules change in the new (though I guess it isn't so "new" anymore) version of the game. Event cards can be discarded to provide +1 defense, but the number of total cards you play for defense (including the dedicated defense cards) cannot exceed the number of military actions you have. For example, if you have only 2 military actions and someone with +6 military strength plays an aggression against you in Age 1, then it is guaranteed to go through. Even if you have 3 defense cards totaling 6 defense, you may only play 2 of them.
