Watch, the entire fight Mad Dog is trying to keep Jaka closer to him, by the walls, or closer to the ground so he can't use his size against him. The moment Jaka is able to build any momentum during the fight, he overpowers Mad Dog very easily. So Mad Dog kept Jaka in situations that denied full freedom of movement, and kept him closer so he can just keep attacking and wear him down.
I love that, i love how the fight doesn't make one so much stronger than the other, they both have weaknesses and strengths and they're perfectly portrayed in this fight
I came to this looking to verify your information, but the majority of the fight took place in the middle of a wide open room. Any time they neared a wall, both fighters were doing it for their own advantage. If si,e was a factor in this, he would have stayed on the stairs for an advantage.
@@MavrikUSMC uh you missed the part where he was held at gun point and forced to be inside the room.
Your comment is ridiculous
@@c.galindo9639 your comprehension is ridiculous. The little guy would have had the advantage on the stairwell. Not the guy forced at gunpoint. Keep up brother.
@@MavrikUSMC no not really as that was a regular sized room not with wide open spaces.

Yeah, but you must consider that Rama was fighting for all day long, take out dozens of bad guys. And that his brother Andy was injured and tortured by the Mad dog. If it was fair fight maybe Rama would’ve taken him out in 1v1

ikr .the raid was so surprisingly satisfying . im glad most of them going places now(iko joe n mad dog)
Jaka’s strategy was sound. After the first flurry from Mad Dog, he knew he couldn’t match him blow for blow. Which is why he went for a lot of grappling moves and just use his raw power and weight to best Mad Dog. The part where he mounts him and just strangle him felt like that was his last card to play.
I wish Jaka knew how to grapple on the ground instead of throwing them to the ground only. He only knows judo but if he supplemented that with wrestling and bjj he would have won this.
To be fair though, Joe Taslim was mostly a Judo fighter so they had to tailor his choreography to include a lot of grappling
He should have just tossed him out of the window

Joe Taslim/Jaka is a judoka, so yes it's a martial arts based on throwing, regardless of user's size.

The thing about The Raid movies is, it's not just a bunch of expert fighters/stuntmen kicking the hell out of each other- although these boys are the top of their game for sure- it's the perfect direction for this kind of film. Evans knows when to pull back the shots and let the scenes breathe, when to cue the music and how to keep us in the action. After these films I watched a few others featuring some of the same cast and they're just not as good, not as visceral and heart-pounding. Evans did an awesome job with these movies and I would love to see more.
The night comes for us is faar more visceral than this imo
@@mustofaakmal7493 aye, it's a good one and certainly more gory, but for some reason I didn't engage with the action as much as with the Raid films. Seemed a bit too staged I think. I should definitely give it a rewatch though and see if my opinion changes.

I know it’s not real full blown hits they are throwing at each other but the exhaustion from it being one whole take during the fight is 100% real & now it’s hard to watch even Marvel fights or anything Hollywood tries to make gritty or real unless it’s shot by real fighters & in one take so they really become out of breath. I saw Mortal Kombat last night and was thinking to myself about this fight scene. I saw this movie in 2012 in the theater and felt the fighting was way better in the Raid. Honestly I still loved Mortal Kombat.
Mortal Kombat has no real fighting it was lame. Atleast the original had genuine fights with special game moves. This newer version made the mistake of only focusing on special cgi moves and totally overlooked good hand to hand fight scenes in the fights after the intro
The Raid actors are real martial artists and they really into it in the making fight scene.

I've only seen Yayan in a couple of movies how he manages to pack that much intimidation into 5 feet and one inch is beyond me.
He's just that good an actor.
@Design Rvt Yep. But being intimidating before you see him fight comes from acting.
Only Mad Dog had that crazy aura that Bolo had in Enter the Dragon, that's what takes the scene and fight to another level.
My favorite part of this movie is how even the side characters are shown to be pretty capable, at least in melee, most of the other cops died mainly to guns but when they actually fight hand to hand you can see that these are trained men.
The amount of anger I had wen Jaka died was astronomical but his death in this movie led to many great things
This movie has emotion and simple choreography that other martial art movies don't have,
These 2 things make fight scene in this movie feel real ...
Replace the mad dog cast with another, maybe a lot can imitate his movements, but you will lose his violent and "mad" side.
Jaa and Adkins maybe are the greatest martial artist atm,
but if you see their fight scene, all their movements are too clean, as if they are doing a demo in front of the audience,
while mad dog in this movie, he looks really wild and savage, his movements and expression make us feel like we're watching a street fight scene , very wild and brutal

It's unacceptable that they aren't like this.
Well it kinda was in the opening scene with Bi Han and Hanzo before they were Sub Zero and Scorpion.
What do you think of either Iko Uwais or Tiger Chen to play Kuai Liang (Sub Zero) in the sequels?
@@sunishotra9958 tiger chen? thats a no and don't
Maybe from Director mortal kombat I think.
This fight or any other fight from this movie and the second one as well are the manliest and most gripping fights ever.
Them elbows and knees strikes was taking a toll on jaka he was gonna break sooner or later
If Jaka fought him together with Rama, there's a chance where both survived
Rama himself could beat him if he were fresh, but he had fought the hole building before
Nope, it takes rama + jaka + light bulb
@@AmaniElFathan Jaka should be better than Andi.
@@klockenberg2299 nope, I hardly think so
What's awesome here is that in all the fights, the actors are making contact without hurting each other. So these are all real, which adds to the intensity.
Way better then any Hollywood fight scene
In this fight we can say that Jaka is better fighter than Rama in first Raid, but then Rama got a lot improving in raid 2.
Wow! Good point. Now I see why it hit so hard they lost their strongest guy at this point. Rama was still green it took him and his brother to beat dog 😯😯
@@Law34prez they lost 2 good fighter in first raid , first is jaka and 2nd is Dagu.
@@Fajar22mentalist very true.
Buff
@@Fajar22mentalist what if jaka is still alive in raid 2 what will he do
Yayan Ruhiyan is more than talented enough to play a Mortal Kombat character but he's just incredibly tiny, the dude is like 5'2 lol. I can't imagine who he'd be a proper fit for. Maybe if they brought back "Human" Reptile, I think he could pull it off well if he bulked up a little bit and still used his speed and agility, that'd be dope.
Well if it's about height, Yayan could be perfect villain in every Tom cruise movie
is it possible to use cgi to make him bigger?
@@natural9407 that's harsh 😂😂😂
@@luxda6 I don't mean to be rude.
If you watch every Tom Cruise movie, most of the main actors are the same height or a few inches taller than him
@@sidikadiluhur7801 it's possible, remember Thanos? the actor is small compared to the character, but I'm not sure if that will hinder the fast choreography or not.
When he said “This is what I do” I felt that
For just $1 million film, it's really beyond my expectation, kudos to The Raid crew and actor
Yeah, they managed to make this movie amazing in spite of the low budget.
0:42 see Joe face 🤣 are you gangsta dude . when maddog say " just pull the trigger no pressure, I dont like this " .
