I came very late to the FFVI party. I started with 7-15. Recently been playing the classics starting from 1 on the NES. And I can honestly say without any nostalgia goggles, as I have only just this week started it. It very well may be, not only the greatest FF game, but also contender for one of the best games I have ever played, regardless of genre.
Same way I felt like 10 or so years ago when I played it. Played through it multiple times. Now I feel the nostalgia.
I feel 6 is my favorite, but 9 is probably the best. 6 is riddled with horrible bugs that are easily exploitable. It also suffers from an overabundance of "main" protagonists, v ends up making the narrative a bit weird. Too many missable scenes without clues to how to get them etc.
It's a fantastic game. But not the best
Been absolutely in love with this theme ever since I got my hands on VI. While I find it impossible to fuck it up, you did an excellent job with this one nonetheless. :)

I'd have to disagree. After playing 5--after playing 4--I'd say 5's normal battle theme was most annoying AND underwhelming.
You'll go nowhere by comparing tracks between them as there are many things that help you to enjoy each track in each game, it's not by comparing songs that you can say that kind of things. FF5 battle theme is a perfect conclusion to all the previous FF battle themes, like almost every theme in this game. "Annoying" is kind of subjective, I'm sure I would find any major track from FF annoying if I had to listen to it multiple times in a row, and in this case, any battle theme is annoying.
