"Can children apply for a loan?" was probably a rhetorical question, many people don't get sarcasm if said in a dead pan way. I was still legally a child when I got a bank loan for a car at 18 (21 the age of majority back then). No Guarantor needed either.
My Mother was very chuffed as I had contracted Mumps, Measles and German Measles (Rubella) before I started school at 4. The earlier one was infected the safer and less serious it was, her failure was Chicken Pox, not contracted until in late 30's inspite of being sent round to neighbours houses when their kids had it. I even failed to contract it when my kids had it, it took a girl in the office to give it to half the office in less than a week.
