I love it when midrange is meta. Try to outlast aggro, try to outaggro control. A good midrange meta always has back and forths with everybody.

56:35 this is an interesting interaction. The spell kills 3 minions, but that 1 skeleton finishes off the 2/4 and the spell summons 4 voletile skeletons, even though that 1 minion didn't get killed by the spell, but by the skeleton.
It happend early one as well,when it killed 6 things and summon 7 skeletons.
Yeah I feel like it shouldn’t work that way. I guess it just checks for what minions died after the spell was cast, not caring about the means.
@@Begeru it's supposed to work that way. Rancor works the exact same way.

Is really Deathborne supposed to suck? I've seen these "perfect board for Deathborne" moments a little bit too frequently, not to mention the fact that Deathborne has a ton of sinergy with already summoned skeletons, as their deathrattle can kill another minion, which triggers another summon of a skeleton
Deathborne is just better Blizzard in the current meta lol.
I've been playing with it a ton and it feels extremely strong and often with the board of skeletons you can create you can create huge swing turns
I guess it was a bit unexpected that Skele mage would be able to generate enough tempo to blow up their own skeles using DB and then have that generate even more tempo.
I don't think anyone but Trump ever thought it was bad. It's actually the backbone of the archetype.
@@d007ization that was the most pleasant surprise for me playing the newer mage cards, your tempo can actually be pretty nuts even if you're using symmetrical board clears

I built this deck (but cut murloc Holmes) and went 12-1 (only loss was again a ridiculous death rattle rougue who summoned two 8/8s with rush on turn 4 and then summoned another 9 throughout the rest of the game)
Didn't expect it to be so good but it seems solid!

I’ve been reading comments looking for peoples thoughts on how I played, and this hit me right in the feels good man. I figured of Mayor Value Town had Mutanus in his deck, and I was holding Denathrius from opening hand, and didn’t want him to eat it, so was trying to get him to play it after Taelan died so I had more minions in hand. Been playing since October 2014, and this is one of my proudest HS moments. Thanks for the kind words 👍👊🇺🇸🤘
I played a deck similar to this.
It's great against Imp Warlock, but like Trump said at the end, "The other classes can do what Paladin does only better."
Deathborne creates the perfect board for Deathborne.
I always forget that wild pyromancer isn't a paladin card.
I'm really happy there is good disruption like Theotar for all the combo decks running around.
I mean, is any of those combo decks rampant right now? I don't know that it's so necessary as it kills a lot of the weaker OTK decks that were fun to play with

I think most combo decks suffer more from face hunter and imp warlock than they do from theothar. even with 40hp you can be dead by turn 5 if you dont have any answers.
@@Kvh47 Well yes, but Theotar gives control decks a way to fight combo. Since not all of us enjoy playing aggro.
When you play deathborne with any volatile skeletons on board, if the skeleton's deathrattles kill anything, deathborne summons additional skeletons, because the deaths resolve before summoning to determine how many skeletons to summon.
So the card is better when you have a few skeletons already on the board.
I'm sure I'm not the first person to say this but the environment/room cards would be so much cooler if they changed the appearance of one side of the board. At the moment, they're basically just a minion which has a slightly different effect. It would be fun if they changed the ambience of the board.

Me too, but theotar is a disgusting card that actually makes me not want to play hearthstone these days... I do not like the design at all, it's like a much better mutanus, 3 times the chance to hit a very important piece of a deck whether it's skeleton mage, Denathrius druid etc... sometimes it's just the least funny experience ever.
@@BunnyAce Yep, not fun at all because he is so strong everyone runs it. So it becomes really rng to win with some decks and matchups. Has to be reworked for sure.

@@bl00dleter i completely agree! if your deck relies upon any single win condition/good card to function, such as guff, kel'thuzad, and even cariel, then you were simply outplayed by someone who ran a tech to that card/value piece.
Brasswing would be a decent tech against later game skeleton boards I think.

As someone who plays quite a bit of Skeleton mage it was very satisfying to see.
Trump seems to be enjoying this expansion. A lot of skill testing mechanics give him a chance to show off his strategical mastery!
Also seems like this is the most standard he’s played since united in stormwind, the sign of a truly enjoyable expac is when trump makes numerous videos on it
Strategic mastery such as meticulously planning out a simple turn only to time out and float 2 mana, nullifying the entire point of all the planning

I'm fairly certain you can set HS tracker to keept track of your opponent's deck and what turn a card entered their hand, so you would only have to note like 3-4 cards max.
he has that overlay hidden from viewers but he can still see it, he references it in the video too

What are you talking about? How does the opponent haveing 1 mana crystal left give away anything about their DECK?
Of course it gives away that that's probably not in their HAND as they'd have played it,but it means nothing about their deck

Anyone being upset about hand disruption like Theotar and Mutanus would hate to play literally any other card game.
I think a lot of the frustration comes from the random nature of Hearthstone's hand attack
I don't get why Trump insists frost mage is bad, so far it's the only deck I've lost against in this exp, that and one random druid that had the perfect ramp.
What happens if you murloc Holmes whne the opponent has an empty hand? I know empty hands just never happen anymore in HS, but theoretically?
It skips that question and goes to the next one I believe, so you can only get two cards

Bruh, it’s literally one of the best enablers for the Skeleton package. You literally build your deck around it for maximizing skeletons for the KT finish or to build a big Denathrius.
I think he viewed it as a purely control tool rather than like a tempo/combo build around

Not really, trump just likes decks with loads of legendaries. I'm currently using miracle rogue which only has 2, Scabbs and Draka. And even then, Scabbs is optional.

Why the hell do you think that deathborne is supposed to suck?! It's a card that literally combos with itself and the entire deck it's in, it is a Consecration that puts debatably strong minions on the board for each minion killed for only 2 more mana. Not to mention the fact that if you kill volatile skeletons with it, it counts minions KILLED BY THEIR DEATHRATTLE for how many minions you summon. Really can't get behind this weird take you have that it's a bad card. It has around 58-60% winrate when drawn, and like a 60-65% winrate when played in that deck.

Consecration has not been a strong card in standard for a long time. Even blizzard was mostly used more as an extra copy of frost nova in freeze mage than for the damage. In standard meta before expansion there were many decks that can put a whole turn of more than 2 health threats on board on turn 6 that swing for lethal or close the next turn. Without skellies on board or softened targ If this card is good, it is because it is one of those cards that lives or dies with the strength of the overall package. And it wasn't known that the skeleton deathrattles count as deathborne killing. That plus the unexpected tempo of skellies early makes the card a dark horse strong card at pick, but it could easily have been garbage. It's not weird to think it was gonna suck. I don't know why so many trump viewers seem to have a weird obsession with calling him delusional when he's just regular levels of wrong

Ye it seems like you just can't do enough unfair things with paladins to compete in the long game against the likes of the other decks. In order for this to work you'd need to have a more offensive approach with some kind of Conviction-based play or something that puts enough pressure on your opponent.
Yes, if you ditch the 40 cards/hp and lean into the handbuff/midrange tempo portion of the deck, I think it could do better.
