Innit the best to see two animals interact with each other? :) recently i introduced my two cockatiels to one another and its the best to observe how they give each other head scritches etc
Robloxian Cousins I’m sorry you had to take your buddy back. But thank you for being responsible and taking him back. I know this horrible horrible woman that would’ve kept those Little guys together fighting just because she didn’t want to take the other back. You are a responsible and awesome owner!
Sorry I have to tell you but I’m very stoned and I really for a straight minute thought the + was a cross and the rats were praying ok. Very cute thank you.
My heart explodes when I see cuddle piles. My two, Frieda and Petra, sleep on each other a lot. I’ve had them together for a month and they’re constantly boxing each other and wrestling. I think because Petra was smaller at the time she let Frieda be alpha but now she thinks she should be the boss because she’s bigger than her now. Frieda is my wild child while Petra is timid. They remind me of Tigger and Piglet.
You are the best i've seen to animal care with the exception of only an handful of others ive found. Why don't you have way more subs by now? Hope you get there!
My girls are finally in the same cage!! I had one girl in particular that would attack the new girl over and over. It was all about dominance but the poor new girl was absolutely terrified after being jumped several times each session. I finally used the carrier/small cage method and after a day of being in the small cage they were sleeping and grooming!!! They’re all together now!
Hey there, I just wanted to thank you so much for your videos. I got three boys last year (my first rats ever) and made lots of mistakes and ended up separating them because they were bullying and injuring each other and although I got the big two boys neutered, I haven't had the confidence to put them back together again in case they really hurt each other again. I didn't want them to be lonely though and after alot of research and watching your videos I tried the carrier method. They're now all back together in their newly made double feraplast cage (thanks for that video too) and they're having a blast sleeping together in their new hammocks and playing during their free roaming time. I still have a long way to go as a rat owner but your videos have made me better and made my boy's lives so much fuller. I can't thank you enough for all your videos and tips and tricks. Thank you so much! ♥️
This video makes me miss my 2 boys Sam & Benji sooooo much, they were brothers from the same litter n were deeply attached to each other and me. Cuddles 24/7. Awesome video, definitely will watch this when I decide to adopt again :)
Thank so much for this video. I've been wondering how to do introductions of rats. I don't have rats yet, but doing a bunch of research before getting my first group.
I remember introducing two rats to each other years ago. I pretty nervous especially when they both got a little tense... but in the end it all went well and the two became great friends. They were pretty different, one was a very small dark coloured rat who was pretty hyperactive and the other was a normal sized light coloured rat who was also blind and very calm. But they were both cuties, very social and like I said they became very good friends. I miss my girls. :(
I had to put my Rat Prequelle to sleep today since she had a tumor in her abdomen (it was genetic ) and she was only 8 months old. The vet directly called a woman who's rat just had pups. I showed up to her house not even 5 minutes later and took one of the rats home. I was kinda nervous what Prequelle's sister (Meliora) would do when she saw Cirice, but she instantly started grooming her and keeping her warm while she slept. They made the entire day a little bit better.
Sunday's little begrudged hand like he's an old man shaking his fist at the world, my rat Bilbo does it too, proper little old men vibes! makes me crease XD ahahahah
My rats instantly fell In love I had 3 rats all from the same litter and one died quite young so we decided to get another one, she was a bit bigger, but they welcomed her so well, recently one of the three rats passed away and I miss her so much
I've had 3 situations where I was introducing babies to older rats & where the babies tried mounting My older Boys. And I've found it's nearly always the smallest Baby who does all the mounting & trying to play the big Man. It's quite funny. I had a male who had a chip on His shoulder about His size (it was a hormonal imbalance really) but the humping is normal. I don't know if You'll be getting them neutered but I do find it really helps as it cures all excess aggression & stops injuries & fights. I also find it helps with smell & obviously it prevents many cancers & extends their lives but yeah They're more mellow & laid back after being neutered.
@@ambriadanielsband4132 Although it's not been proven, many rescue centres , foster carers , owners & vets have found that Male rats almost always live far longer than their usual life expectancy after being neutered. I believe it's thought to also prevent cancers of the prostate & another cancer other than testicular but I will check with My Vet again on Monday as I can't remember which other cancer. There are 3 particular cancers that the risk is apparently vastly reduced for with the operation. Sorry 2 other than testicular I mean which obviously is eliminated. I can't remember if prostate cancer is eliminated or reduced risk but I'll ask Our vet on Monday. She specialises in rats. The only thing is, You have to watch out for weight gain with Neutered males. Males are quite prone to laziness anyway when They reach maturity & after neutering They tend to be higher risk of obesity. But I had 2 neutered Males who stayed a healthy weight & an un-neutered male who ended up obese so again nothing is set in stone
Im quite excited to see this :) I have a male rat living on his own because of how aggressive he is toward other rats. Hopefully this video Will help me out! :)
I’ve introduced a lot of baby girl pairs to adult girls over the years, and it’s always been easy although the time it takes has varied from a few days to 12 weeks. This time, for the first time ever I’m really nervous about it. My old girls are acting quite evil just upon _seeing_ the babies in a separate space. I am going to need to do the bathtub method, and I thank you for showing the process since I’ve never needed to alter my usual technique.
I’ve grown facinated with rats, and I’m trying to get some, I’m working on a PowerPoint about all the tease arch I can, and as a test to see if my mom would let me get some, so I “joked” about wanting to get a rat. She did not like the idea of getting a rat, but I’m still doing a bunch of research because I’m still going to try and get rats one day
This is extremely helpful as I'm about the start school soon and even though I'm doing it online I'm gonna be busy basically all day and I don't want them to get to lonely. So I've been figuring out if I should get them some new sisters to play with and hang with while I'm busy with highschool, cuz homework ugh lol. I've been researching and watching rat owners for quite a bit today to figure it out. Thanks so much for the help!
Such cuties! I have two males on their own at the minute and need to introduce them. I lost one a few days ago and went to pick up another rat who was in the same situation (having lost his brother) and now I need to introduce the boys.
I did something very similar when introducing my girls to each other! I just added a little bit of vanilla to their fur so they were more interested in licking and grooming and not fighting 🐀
Thank you so much for this! I've been around rats for years but have never had to into any.. I always got 3 to 5 minimum when getting new ratties. My DCN is split between the 4 I have. 3 on bottom and 1 on top.. I really want to intro them but am fearing the worst. They're all a little over a year and are intact. This video is a huge help, thank you so much Imee. My name is pronounced like yours but spelt differently 😊.
When you put them in the bathtub to begin with was that the first time they had been together or had they had small sessions in the tub before? (5-10 mins) because I have two new baby boys that are being introduced to my other rats and I’m struggling a little with them getting along? Thank you for any help and I absolutely love love love your channel!☺️❤️❤️❤️
@@Emiology I also use the tub and small space methods for introducing two rabbits to each other that I'm trying to bond. So far it's worked both times.
I have a group of 3 rescued rats here in my house and I really want to introduce them and let them live in harmony in a big cage lol but one of them has had respiratory infection and has some kind of "asthma" when she gets nervous (she's medicated, don't worry c: ), do you have any advice on how to introduce them?
I miss my rat boys so much..I've lived without rats for over a year, I'm a mum now and got a wonderful son (soon 11 months old) and my heart just screaming "get rats, best animal for kids tooo " 😂
Any tips for when your rats keep jumping out the bath tub? Been the main problem with introducing our two newbies to our current mischief. 😂 Remy is a jumper!
Lol I had this problem but i just kept plopping them back in, towards the end when they were starting to jump out I just decided to move onto the carrier as they were more focussed on jumping out anyway. I'd say from experience try not to loom over them too much when they're in there, I did this (because I was filming) and then they realised there was an UP and started trying to get out.
I recently got a pair of rats, two brothers. They’ve been fine since I got them but a couple weeks ago the smaller one began attacking the bigger one and drawing blood... I have them separated right now but I don’t know if I should try to introduce them to each other again.. What do you think?
I had a similar experience with my two boys, I added more hideaways (with lots of exits) and that seemed to fix it. They were aggressive for the first 3 months even tho they have been with each other since birth. They are both now two years old and I added another story to the cage, they havent (seriously) fought since they were around 3-6 months old
Hi there. Quick question, do you think introductions tend to go smoother with very young rats? I have two 4 month old boys and now three almost 7 week old boys. I have been doing the tub intros for a few days now (but then putting them back in their own separate cages afterwards bc they babies seem so much smaller!). They have sniffed, played, wrestled and eaten together in the tub with no fights or aggression. One of the older boys has pinned the babies a few times, but nothing aggressive and the babies just lay there. I just wasn't sure if I should put them in a cage together yet and if doing small playdates for a week or two is even helpful? Or is taking them away from each other after each play session just making them have to start over each time? Thank for any advice! 😊 Love your channel. ♥️
Would you recommend this method if I've previously tried introducing two pairs before? The introductions went bad because I have one boy who is incredibly fearful of other rats and doesn't let them get close to him which I think frustrates my other boys. I ended up with an incident where my alpha from my older pair badly gashed the small fearful boy who needed to get stitches :( it's been 2 months since that incident and I haven't tried since.
My Bandit lost his brother Badger, and he’s a chunky lad, I don’t know what I could do if I got another rat and he didn’t like the newbie.. I do think he gets a bit lonely when I’m not around due to my sleep disorder.. not to mention I’m tight on space so how would I be able to fit two rat cages in my flat while they’re separate 😞
What carrier is this? I’m trying to find a carrier for when I go to pick up my two baby dumbo boy rats. I have a carrier that is 7 x 4 1/4 x 3 1/2. But is that big enough for two baby boy dumbo rats? They are gonna be 6-8 weeks old.
I recently adopted two boys and tried having them in a big cage together.had a few rat ball moments ,but no blood. Im nervous to put them in a small cage since the younger one is a bit aggressive. They are fine in free range areas though,im confused on why being in a cage together is different. Any tips?
I'm not sure if you'll reply, but how did you attach a water bottle to your carrier? i have the same one, and I'm going to get my 2 new babies soon, and I would like to use a water bottle this time, instead of a water bottle, because when I got my last girls, they ended up tipping over there bowl! anyway hope you can help, thank you!
How do you know when it is 100% safe to leave them in their big cage together over night for the first time? Also you leave them in the small cage together over night? i’m so worried to do that 😅but i know it must be done

This is so incredibly interesting
