    I’ve recently found your channel and am loving it! I’m wanting to be more successful in my final quilt outcomes and you are helping me do that. I also recently read your article on spray basting and am impressed with the research that you read and outlined. Thank you for your insights on these controversial issues. 💕

    I am curious about your age and at what age did you start quilting. Your videos are so well done and helpful. I have learned so much from them. Also what are your thoughts regarding spray basting versus pinning?

      I'm 35 and I started quilting when I was 21, so 14 years! I always wanted to know how to quilt because I grew up with lots of quilts from my grandmothers and great grandmothers on my bed. Spray basting is evil! LOL! Sorry, I'm a bit opinionated about that. You can find a podcast on this here: freemotionquilting.blogspot.com/2018/01/is-basting-spray-bad-for-quilts-podcast.html

    Thank you Leah - you explained a lot! I was wondering how to keep my stitch in the ditch consistent - now I know how to accomplish that. Where can I get that mat?

    I love your videos. And have decided to buy the Sparrow 20. I'm looking for simplicity and function and it seems to fill the bill. :) May I ask what table you are using? It looks like it has a back extension on it and with quilting love that setup.

      This is the table I'm using - leahday.com/products/affordable-sewing-table The extra table to the back is an 8 x 4 foot Melanine sheet that I cut to fit around the smaller table. You can also use table tops from Ikea and adjustable legs - that works too!

    How do you know how much open area a batting allows? (I.e. The distance between stitch lines). Thank you for awesome block and quilting ideas and helpful hints.

    • @LeahDay
      @LeahDay  5 років тому +1

      This is usually written on the package of the batting when you buy it. It will say something like "quilting up to 3 inches" and that means you must not leave spaces bigger than 3 inches or the batting will shift.

    I’m surprised that you are quilting after you have the binding on? I usually bind last so the top has room to shift during quilting. Your thoughts?

    • @LeahDay
      @LeahDay  5 років тому

      Nope, the binding isn't on this block. I'm using black batting so it might just look that way. Binding before quilting would be very challenging!

    What. Color thread did you use?

    • @LeahDay
      @LeahDay  5 років тому

      Isacord thread Sterling. It's a medium gray that turns out very nice over the scrappy and black spaces: leahday.com/products/isacord-thread?variant=5913400901
