When i decided to clean all the old paste off of my laptop processor, i used paper towels and 70% iso alcohol. I was able to get all of it off and dried it very well, put all new paste on and it worked awesome. Later i decided to take the old double sided tape off the graphics card processor and put paste and wow, it runs does a million times better now.
in case anyone is seeing this video that "oil" is actually vaseline, wich is non conductive and it was used in some cases to provide extra layer of protection against moisture and such, nowadays its only used by extreme overclockers and very highend and enterprise grade cards
It's most likely coming from the thermal pads, as they heat up the oils leak out and this happens on a lot of video cards. I've opened up a few video cards and I've never seen any vaseline anywhere on the cards, this video card has most likely never been opened since factory and I don't think they would ever add it since the heat generated from the entire card itself would evaporate any amount of moisture.
Today I found an old gpu in my attic, my brother used it for a long time until he changed to a new one, I installed it in my pc and it was hot, I knew it was thermal paste's fault because it wasn't changed after it was bought, after screwing the card, it was a lot of dust. I cleaned it, I cleaned the old thermal paste, and changed the thermal paste with arctic mx-4, plus I cleaned the cooler with the heat sink, It ran much better and temperature of gpu was much low. Now the gpu is running like new.
@@erkutylmaz8994 I did repaste my MSI 980Ti Gaming 6G and I dropped from 85 to 70 on max load same benchmark. I was blown away, but I also cleaned the whole PC which definitely helped as it was clogged in places...
I think, if you wanna decrease drastically your temps, you'll need to buy some Liquid Metal, the gains are so worth-it ^^ btw : I changed the thermal paste of my RTX 2060 (PNY), and I saw that the TP that uses the manufacturer was not that bad. For a comparison, I only won 1°C from the stock TP to Noctua NT-H1 TP.

Brushes work good for cleaning around the GPU. I nearly lost my shit about a minute ago seeing artifacts after a paste replacement. Way too much. Flowed out like butter.
This weekend i made my new pc but i've used my old gpu (GTX 1080) but i noticed that the fans made alot of noise. Thought it were the case fans or CPU fans but after flattening the fan curves, i kept hearing those loud fans... Next i checked the temps of my PC and noticed the gpu was Running 90+ degrees Celcius!! Took the gpu apart and re-applied the thermal paste (used thermal grizzly's). The old thermal paste was hard and dry, clearly old. After changing the thermal paste my gpu does not get loud anymore and the temps never got above 70 degrees Celcius again. I'd advice anyone to do this once you notice simular things with your PC.

Nice! Ill be repasting my new gpu after a month. Also never been a fan of acrtic silver 5. Not just cuse its slightly capacitive but also because it sticks like glue to anything it touches and is a pain to clean off. There are also "newer", better performing alternatives for the same price nowadays like noctua, corsair or arctic's MX4 paste.

I was thinking about making a 10 year JT and using a pack of maybe 20 D cell batteries, soldered of course, then potting the entire thing in crystal clear resin, if a single AA lasts 10 years, then 20 D cells should last an eternity, so it'd be something that could be kept for a long time in the future as long as high quality components were used.
To be honest with you I don't think that having 20 D cells would do a lot of good. I think that I mentioned this before but that circuit is so low current that the self discharge of the battery will probably play a bigger role in how long it will last that anything. Most batteries are only rated to last for 10 years of storage. I stand to be corrected on this though.

I went from 60 to 70 in warzone :D I also did my dads prebuild and somehow asus has secured the motherboards down and I cannot take it out. Prebuilds suck to work on. The gpu was also locked behind some stupid steel plate.
there is a big difference because gpu/cpu have built in algorithms for protection when it detect that temperature isn't increasing per wattage it increase performance and didn't care till it rish same temperature, so the difference likely will be at performance and hardly at temperature
I would have never used AS5 for this type of application, You should have used MX4. When Ive done thermal maitnance in the past I would notice a 1 to 2 degree improvement with AS5 if any at all but with mx4 or gelid I've had up to 10c improvement. Imho, AS5 isn't bad paste at all...it just isn't right for this purpose
Please do not put Thermal compound in X shape :) it's actually the worst way to do it ... just a single drop in the middle and it will do the job better. putting too much will attract higher temperatures.
It doesn't matter except when it does. Example: a large GPU like Vega, with a single drop you'll miss the edges and that's basically the death of your GPU, or at least throttling which completely defeats the purpose of replacing the paste. Use a coffee filter to wipe the paste off it works really good.

dont use cheap thermal grease, its probably not very good and not meant for computer hardware
i like to use Arctic MX2, but MX4 and MX5 are also good

3 mistakes - it is better to manually spread even the paste, u put little too much paste, and u have to tighten the cooler to ensure best contact.
No such thing as too much paste thermal wise. With that much itll inevitably spread all out.

I mainly used it because I had it on hand. As the video shows It helped out a lot in my case.
Jackson Johnson Jones Jr. weird. I noticed a 10-12c reduction in temperature from using AS5 on my 1080 ti. Just saying.

Type of thermal paste doesn’t make much difference. You could use mayonnaise and it would work. Linus and jay did a video on this very topic.

Check your case fans and whether your card fans are dirty, too. It should never get that hot in a properly cooled system.

Jesus Christ came into this world to reach those who feel that nobody cares. The Lord’s unfailing love surrounds the one who trusts in Him. The Lord Jesus Christ does care and He is reaching the lonely and the desperate, the confused and the hurt, the depressed and the disillusioned. Jesus Christ is reaching out to you.
“But God demonstrates His own love toward us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” Rom 5:8
As we turn away from our sin and turn to Christ we find forgiveness and freedom.
Jesus Christ is a Friend to the friendless.
He is a Helper to the helpless.
He gives freedom to the addicts.
He loves the unloved.
He accepts the outcasts.
He changes the unchangeable.
He forgives the unforgivable.
He accomplishes the impossible.
He saves sinners.
He seeks the lost.
He gives direction to the aimless.
He gives hope to the disillusioned.
He gives Truth to the confused.
