Well that was great video! You did that in one take I think...really interesting and informative. I've seen some FLIR images on other media platforms and wasn't exactly sure what I was looking at...I though they were just top of the range radar images...but know I understand. Thanks for the upload...subscribed!
I like the intent of your video, well spoken and edited! I think statements like radar works well in all conditions (certainly not true for pulse x band in rain unless the operator is highly skilled), and that a radar can see 40 - 50 miles are a little hazardous. Even at 45 metres (sorry - about 150ft scanner height), your radar horizon will only be in the order of 15 miles or so. Flat earthers will argue this, of course... 🙂 Enjoyed your video and agree with your conclusion for rec boaters!
Great Question @@claudiof.barbano5530 ! I'm preparing to do a video on Sionyx. My Summary: It offers 90% of the performance of FLIR, at 50% of the price. So, the value equation is VERY strong... It's an impressive technology.
Sending out light at night so you can see something as you are ruining the natural night vision of other boat skippers on the water is a good way to have someone shoot at your LED light bar.
This makes no sense as a comparison. 99% of boats with a FLIR will have a radar. I will never have a boat without both of them again. Currently have 3 boats with radar and FLIR M364C
Very well done. Well structured, professional and informative.
Thank you John!
Awesome video; never knew of the flir tech on a boat. Going to look into further
Thank you William, it's extremely accessible, and provides incredible capability for nighttime or low visibility boating....

Thank you for the feedback Stephen!
Excellent information. Thank you
Thank you Adam! I appreciate the positive feedback!

Thank you! I look forward to updating this video with the Sionyx system also, considerably less cost than FLIR, performance is TBD.
Do FLIR system will be good for offshore sailing?
Excellent video. Thanks
Thank you Sam!
Fantastic
Thank you Dewayne!
Hi does FLIR have a separate screen or incorporated on ordinary screen
Incorporated into Garmin screens....
Is the Flir 100 series enough or is mandatory better M332 (or even M364 ) for sail catamaran (max 12-15 knots)
If you do long distance cruising, go with the best FLIR you can afford....
@@ChrisYachtSales what do you think of SIONYX low light camera?

I got the SIONYX, installed these dsys, @@ChrisYachtSales
Radar will never be replaced..
Thanks for your insights Jeffery, a lot of boaters agree with you!
Radar is the most important navigation tool on the vessel. Hands down no comparison

Actually, the radar dome says "NIMRAG". Just sayin' .......
Yes, reverse camera angle mistake.....
Trick question LED lightbar is best. Flir wont pick up markers well. Radar is iffy. Radar+lightbar is best.
Valid point! Thanks for your contribution.....

Apples or oranges? Which are better for Florida boaters........
🤦♂️
Oranges, Florida's #1 crop!

Thanks for your input....
Got any germanium lenses for your flir ?
