- live DVD rip recording of The Dandy Warhols performing Boys Better on Recovery - 3 October 1998.
Recovery was a music and youth-oriented television series that was broadcast by ABC TV in Australia. The show was aired each Saturday morning from 9am to 12pm, following the overnight video clip program, Rage, and was broadcast from 20 April 1996 to 29 April 2000.
My mum died that year unexpectedly at 43, I was 21 at the time, was about 6 days before this aired and my life changed forever, I just noticed the date and it reminded me, sorry if that was a bit deep 😂🍻🇦🇺
❤
I'm mesmerised by the keyboard player .. She's AWESOME !
you missed out on when she played topless.
Her tambourine playing is the key to this song's rhythm
@@UploadPicture-pl5ip Totally ! 💗
@@wayne_twentyfive just look for the official video to the song. Apart from her being most charming she's in my opinion the musical backbone of the band. All the goose bump moments start when she starts doing the velvetesque organ noises...
Zia rocks
I saw them 11 months ago in so cal.....front row seats.....They ROCK!!!..Courtney high fived me after the concert...cool band
So underated..love this band
It's neo-alpha music so yeah, a bunch of people are not attracted to it, and other people actively try to tear down these guys. Sad, really. It's brilliant.
Stupid underrated comment.
maaaan I wish I lived the 90's on loop until death. Great decade for music and culture.
The best Alternative Rock, EVER!!
This
70's and 80's were better although I must admit the 90's was very foggy for me it flashed by! good times though dude :)
yeah , it's tough you missed it and the 80s, still ,,,,,,,,,,,,,, ................... tough!
Still loving this 50 years later.
man it was late 90's not that long ago!
I loved this when it came out 50years ago.. 😂
50 yrs..wow!!
Damn. Time flys. I used to watch them in little clubs in Portland 62 years ago
@@spiritoflightsyou don’t even know how to roll with a joke.
What an AMAZING performance!!! Never heard Boys better sound better live than this! KIller performance!
In the morning to, I woke up with a hangover and say this, endorphins flowed and I probs had a hottie and got on the piss again, always a Dandys fan though, I take that shit seriously :)
About the same time as Ren and Stimpy, if it wasn't the Dandy Warhols it was Ren and Stimpy, maybe it was just a window period but it was intense lol
Saw them this tour in Melbourne at the Prince of Wales in St Kilda. It was awesome 😎
I'm a fan for many years...
What a great sensibility
great songs
great production
the ultimate in "cool"
3 guitars and no bassist, how crazy is that? I love it.
moog bass :)
Thats the job of the keys tho. Sounds great.
Listen to us!
Just like the doors maaaaaaaan
Synth Bass FTW!
It was 20 frakin years ago? Oh my god....
I haven't been in prison, but I don't know how I missed out on the Dandy Warhols. First time I ever heard the Bohemian Like you thingy was 15 minutes ago.
It's cool
I know 20 years ago. I feel ancient
god you
@@healthcareforallfiftyseven3773 check out "sleep"...it's slow, but it's really good, and it's been used in a lot of movies and shows...

The world was 21 years younger I liked it.
Gilmore girls for life
Zia is such an amazing musician!
Wow. That’s great. That’s sonic sound to the trippy rock n roll max.
I wish they played this song like this now! It's a pale shadow of itself live these days sadly
Finally got around to seeing them LIVE, last Monday in Perth...great concert 🍌
My favourite band...EVER!
still playing this 20 years later !
20+ years later uh huh
a night i didnt go out in melbourne ,, stayed home and watched rage on abc in the day .. saw them on there and the video clip ... had bombed a pill ,,, then stayed up as you do pilling off you nut..theen to see them on recovery live performance was unbelievable .. i was hooked from then on this performance watching live ... just wish i was there in the studio
Cracking version of this song 👍👍
why am I hearing this for the 1st time in 2022??? great song!!
Better late than never daddy david
Recovery had some amazing live bands
This band just brings vibes that cannot be replicated. Some might say “listen to Brian Jonestown massacre”
Similar but not the same. Both have their own unique vibe that can’t be matched. If anyone’s actually interested in the band itself and some of the backstory along with Brian Jonestown massacre there’s a rad documentary on it. The documentary is called “dig!”.
In saying this though I believe one of the members of the dandy’s said it doesn’t really paint a good image for the Brian’s Jonestown massacre and if I’m not mistaken, I believe both bands respect eachother quite a bit. Both bands have evolved so to speak since that documentary while keeping its roots alive and its vibe still. Shoutout to Courtney, Pete, zia, Brent & Eric for making great tunes for us all to enjoy!
Great style and sound .. Great band.....
This period of the Dandies is such kickin’ psychedelia… super-sexual melodic noise. Saw them live and they absolutely killed it…
The best song, live! Thanks. 👏
Always liked the Elliot Smith songs on the 'Good Will Hunting' soundtrack, but this is the only song I turn up loud and really get into.
Quelle interprétation 😇🥰😍 Tellement enivrante... Tellement meilleure que l'original de l'album ❤❤❤🎶🎵🎼🥁🎸🎸🎸👍💪👏👏
the doors,zz top, janes addiction.. and dandy warhols- the greatest american bands of all time(imo !)
Brilliant song I love it
Dandys + bong hits = Hell Yeah!
bahahaha yes mate that is how it was for me then
Of course!!! 😅
This song is Crazy fuckng great performance of Courtney and others ALL fuckng guys makes Rock n ROLL true and horse pillsss in our Heads...from Brazil greetings.... good music for good people.... thanks for post this classic
excellent version!!!!
GOD BLESS RECOVERY !!! GO DANDYS !!!
The Dude with the 'I Don't Know' shirt is referring to if he doesn't know if he has enough effects pedals for that one song..... Great song no doubt.
I love this band!!
I want to see them in concert so badly, dang you COVID!!!
Just seen them in Western Australia supporting Hoodoo Gurus and they were amazing 10/10
@@DirtyNicko1 Agreed. Saw them in Adelaide supporting the HG's. Definite 10/10. Courtney had his voice back. I think he lost it there for a while. I actually wished that the DW's headlined or at least co-headlined with the HG's so they could play a longer set. The HG's played too many songs. 23 songs or something ridiculous. We left 3/4's of the way through. I mean, they were OK but to be honest we only really wanted to see the DW's and they didn't disappoint. Hope they venture back to Oz next year for a stand alone tour.
@@adambarratt1820 I was really only there for the DWs, i could have left happy after their support.
@@DirtyNicko1 Saw them in Brisbane during that concert tour and they were underwhelming to say the least. I went just to see them but the sound system was atrocious and they as a band weren't much better. I am a Dandy fan but the Hoodoo Gurus demonstrated all the qualities that night that put the Dandy's to shame. I am a real fan of the Hoodoo Gurus now...
@@adambarratt1820 Went to the Brisbane concert and my experience was the reverse. Am a huge Dandy fan but they were underwhelming and the sound was terrible. The Hoodoo Gurus wiped the floor with them and were the 'value for money' band that night. Have had responses from others here that echoed mine so I was not the odd one out so-to-speak. Won't pay to see the Dandy's again.
Fuckin awesome..the Dandies at the height of their sublime-ity!
That fuckin perfect song!
Seeing them Monday night 930 Club. Going to be sweet.
Bad Ass! You Guys ROCK!!!
Great band and great TV Show.
This kicks some major ass!
So, so good.
Dandys é uma puta banda e faz um som que eu preciso para sobreviver entre tanto lixo...
Na boa, gosto mais das coisas do início da carreira
..
Ibises to see them a bunch in 94,95,96
this is awesome. Thank You
woah!!! amazing quality for a 1998 video. Thanks for sharing it.
I wonder who is the 3rd guitarist?
think he played with them at reading too, not sure really what he's doing there
I could be wrong but it might be Troy. Troy definitely played with them live a few years later on the 13 Tales tour playing trumpet and guitar. This is a couple of years earlier though, so it might not be him though lol
He's called Troy. I met him once after a gig. Alright kinda guy but fancied himself a bit and gave off the air of someone who was way cooler than he actually was. Think they replaced him with some other guy after 13 Tales period.
wow cd's
Wow, wow wow, fantastic.
Groovy Zia!
Love the Flanger!!
FABULOUS......
theres a neil young feel to this song.... love this song
Neil will always be Young.
wayyy more like The Who
A class act.....
Best band ever
Man this group is great. Well done for this TV show for realising.
Come tour again
Who is Dandy #5, to Pete's left, with the Les Paul?
Very damm cool!!
o oh yeah.....o oh yeah..... love this song
I watched this over and over at someone's house on VHS the day after it was on Recovery and I can't even remember the girls' name!
Zia McCabe
yeah great upload thanks! :)
Brillant
I can't stop watching/listening to this - what is wrong with me ?
Nothing!
the boys better beware!
SUPER..
courtney sei stupendo
20 fucking years ago!! christ
Bad Ass!!!
Fuck I miss the 90s
MY YOUTH SINGS, SONIC YOUTH, MEAT PUPPETS, NIRVANA 💕💕😼😼🌻🌻🪄🪄🌺🌺😽😽👑👑
Zia was also a guitarist.
So I don't know who the fifth guy is who's got the Les Paul. Was he just to fill in or did the Dandy's have five people for a while?
Cool!
Is she playing the keyboard bass like the Doors used to do?
Yes, amoungst other things.
Yes, I think she does that on most Dandy's songs. There's certainly noone else on bass!
I dig.
Dandy rule Okay
Killer
Pete needs to get his look back to this state....Courtney, too.
Ya it's annoying how unkempt they got. It's not all drugs
One hit wonders
Smashing like Smashville
Dandies, come play Santa Cruz or San Jose.🤣😉🤘🏿
Drummer needs to lay into the snare a bit more
Or be moved UP in the mix
3:03
No bass ...sad..and can’t hear her keys either, but still awesome.
I would like*
(Phi phi phi)
Felipe Dos chapa
Zia and Brent save this performance from Hell.
like
Listen to the cult … Phoenix the sing live from 91
No bassist?
Got bass ? I mean REAL BASS GUITAR ? Think a distorted out Hofner Beatle bass. Just saying ....
Still a great song.
Heroin chic
A great band that BLEW it and then tanked.
kinda
Why isn't the extra guitarist playing bass instead? Duh!
The Dandy’s have never had a bass player - Zia plays all the bass lines on her keyboard
@@greva2904 She also plays some traditional bass.
スト−ンズに影響うけてるかな?
Is it possible that he is all ADHDS because he is so attractive? Like, if he look more like Fred Armison he would be so unable t just get through a day?
Also, these guys Effing rock.
they used to be great..... i saw them in san francisco this year and it was boring sludge fest...... Zia was the only one awake. she sang a janis joplin song by herself at the end to try and save the show but it was to late....... they got heir cash n left town
Haha saw them in NYC this year and they were great so idk which show u saw
