'word from the herd' - Calli takes a big step with a little stroll in the indoor

Every horse is different, and most horses arrive here at the MSSPA with parts of their story unknown. Such was the case with Calli, who came to the farm in February, trembling so that her entire body shook. We don't often see fear like that. But Calli, having just had surgery to remove an eye, captured our hearts, and our determination to do what it takes to help this beautiful horse find her way to peace and contentment. Work like this takes time and endless patience, something the MSSPA is known for. For a horse like Calli, progress is often measured in baby steps - accepting a pat, or allowing herself to be haltered. On today's 'word from the herd,' Calli took a big step forward.
