From the Baltic to the Bering Sea, Russia has celebrated June 12th as a public holiday to pay tribute to the country’s identity and heritage since 1992.
The instrumental used in this anthem was initially written in 1939 by Alexandr Alexandrov for the State Anthem of the Soviet Union. After the dissolution of the Soviet Union, a national anthem for Russia was adopted. However, when President Vladimir Putin took power in 2000, a new hymn was adopted. Sergey Michalkov wrote new lyrics, and the original Soviet music of Alexandr Alexandrov was used again in a Russian hymn.

It's an okay anthem. It's the anthem of a nation that has a leader who happens to be putin, and putin happens to be commiting war crimes in Ukraine. Russia is still a beautiful nation. I love the wilderness and red square. The people are suffering from the kinda harsh sanctions. I think we should put the war behind us when we talk about Russia and not the war.
What's exactly wrong with Putin being the leader?

1. A "president" should never and I say again NEVER exceed his mandate limits as he is a servant of the state and obey its laws even as a ruler, not the other way around. 23 years of rule doesn't sound remotely as a presidency, more likely some kind of dictatorial rule. Change of power needs to happen constantly in an healthy democratic state.
2. The Russian state has been totally torn apart ideologically by his despotism and the way he imposes his violent views through the oligarch-funded media.
3. He is at the head of a nasty oligarch system, a bigger scaled version of sicilian Mafia, ruling the state, the institutions and all the major companies like Rosneft or Gazprom.
4. The opposition is silenced easily and it should never happen in a normal state. Also, you can never be unguilty if you crack down on your oppositioners. To be credible you need to be trasparent.
5. He made Russia a hated country around the world or if not hated, he made it controversial. Under the Rule of Putin, national non-russian minorities like mine one (the Bashkirs), have seen their autonomy rights being toppled and supressed with an increased crack down on the languages which are under a cultural and mediatic genocide.
6. His despotism and oligarchy causes a heavy social inequality. As you see, the major cities of Russia, Moscow, SPB or Vladivostok are the only wealthy ones with considerable modernity and confort, then look at other cities like Ufa, Gorno-Altaysk or Ulan-Ude, cities of actual historical and social importance left out and decadent, rotting. People starve in certain areas while others thrive in wealthy zones, and the state does nothing to topple the issue.
7. Glorification of the culture of weapons and war on the new generations, imposing a nationalist view instead of a peaceful minded one oriented towards global brotherhood.

@@Marian-zm2fb Crimean tatars are native in Crimea, because in 18th century and 19th century there were no Russians who lived there. Russians can go back to Moscow, Crimean Tatars can’t go anywhere.
