As far as the sundown part it isn’t that way any more 99% of people here are actually educated enough to understand that all races are equal. A few of the old heads still feel that way but they are dying off anyway.

@Moon Shine Vidor really is still that bad, the YT people there are stuck in the past. You can definitely ride through Vidor during the day and be totally fine, might get stopped by the cops and also get ALOT OF STARES!! But I highly suggest not going there during the night time as the cops start to power trip. You can really go missing in Vidor and no one will blink an eye.

Vidor is scary as hell. I came am out to texas as a contractor and had assignments in Orange texas and beaumont. I was told to never stop in Vidor. I drove there every day on route 10 and always made sure I had enough gas to never stop there. This was my white roommate that told me not to stop.
Just because they take down their sign doesn’t mean their racism against blacks and other minorities ends besides the surrounded towns people could just be as racist she shouldn’t have bought him to the town when she knew it was a sundown town their was a sundown town a couple counties where I live they took down their sign back in 2009 my county made a decision about two years ago to bane rebel flags at our high school football games I think the only reason things get changed in these places is you have people moving into these places and what changes

I heard a documented true fact from a ( LA public school 6th grader) that was being stalked by all the blatts in the school to be jumped in the non gender bathroom and injured for saying the N word and physical violence was the socal norm for socal justice. She was assigned a teacher bodyguard and escort her out early from school to her ride home everyday for a year.
The truth was she never said the N word its was a competitor cheerleader that started the rumor to have her beat. It was the most uncomfortable scary time of her life for a year.

Oh, the reason a lot of businesses and homes are trashed/shut down is due to the river authority opening the dams on the hoarded water during tropical storm Harvey. There were two lakes at capacity that were released and everywhere at the beginning of your video was under several feet of water. Even the interstate was under water and impassible! There are a lot more trailers because of that little incident and because insurance decided to drop people. It was bad.

No, Vidor, Texas wasn't OFFICIALLY a sundown town in recent years. But yes it had that reputation (reported as dangerous after dark for those of the wrong complexion) unofficially untill very recently (still does to some), though it has had at least a few Black residents for several dacades.

I live a hour away from grand saline and 34 mins away from Terrell Texas that's where jamie foxx from grand saline is one town I wouldn't dare go to majority of the sundown towns are located in east Texas I live caddo mills I seen racist towns but nothing like grand saline that's the worse and it might be or might not be a sundown town but they are still racist

When I was a teenager, I had a flat in grand saline. I didn't have a jack but, I had 4 friends in the car. We loosened the lugs, lifted the car enough to change the tire and got the heck out of there!!!!

I'm not far from you and I use to live in Orange Tx and actually went to school in Vidor one year.... I would have to say that Grand Saline and Vidor have about the same vibes. But I do agree that there is racism every where and it's racism from every direction... and it's a damn shame that we all can't just realize that we all bleed red blood....

I grew up down the road from vidor. Since the 90s its been known for 1 of the very few Aryan brotherhood headquarters in texas and for kkk marches. There are still members and mindsets of the like around the area, but it has drastically changed. Money means more than racist morals and meth is king in those neighborhoods. I didn't see any racism in the slightest in your video other than your racist remarks and your bad attempt at a (white) voice. You went looking for a specific something for your video and resorted to showing the racist ideals you harbor within yourself. I am a hispanic male who has a child with a vidorian woman and lived in vidor for 2 years. That man you were disrespecting at the light didn't bat an eye or judge you, he spoke to you with respect as you .are fun of him. I grew up in that town, @ 4:40 they passed up the elementary school I attended l. I now live approximately 9,000 miles away... a lifetime away.

@darioussmith3450 Unfortunately, to some degree, it is true. My family moved to Vidor, and my dad had no idea the history behind Vidor. My parents made efforts to raise their kids not to be racist. I'd say most my friends had the same mindset and have interracial marriages. (Asian/African/Latino) But like most towns, there were echelons of mindsets & traditions.
I moved away about 30 years ago. From what I understand, the town is becoming more progressive but probably not enough to "move the needle."
I have biracial children & Vidor wouldn't be my first choice to raise them there. That said, I do have fond memories of fishing & hunting in that area. Ultimately, no place is perfect.

Since regularly visiting this town and reading stuff online, it consists of alot of young people who want to change the stereotype of vidor. (Idk if its true.) But I've seen black people at the walmart a few times, very few but ive seen it, and ALOT of gay. Ive seen a few bumper stickers and shirts. But I also regularly see this person, who i cant tell if theyre trans, working in one of the shops. I see them often in skirts and I think dyed their long hair once. Its a weird thing to see in a town said to be extremely conservative etc.
The best place to find weird stuff in vidor is the flea market off the highway coming from beaumont, Idk about darker people going there. I've never seen them.

Tbh it’s not scary to live here, I’m actually from New Orleans i only moved here a few years ago and most people here are really sweet. Talked to exactly two people: One in person, was kind and engaging the other, after just being as racist as humanly possible to the person on the other end of the line - expecting to be told they had no vacancies was given a price and asked if he'd like to come in.
