So much of what this patient said really resonated with myself. My GP has labelled me a hypochondriac and I had to fight for a referral to a rheumatologist despite being in so much pain with a positive ANA. He told me I’m absolutely fine and it’s anxiety. I said I’ve had anxiety nearly all my life and I know these symptoms are not apart of anxiety. This is different. It’s very different. I went to see a rheumatologist and he dismissed me. I asked for a second opinion and got diagnosed with RA. It took nearly 2 years to see a rheumatologist and get a diagnosis. Now I have a great team. I love my rheumatologist and my nurse. You’ve really got to advocate for yourself. If you believe something is wrong like truly feel like something is wrong keep pushing and don’t ever feel like you’re being a nuisance or a hypochondriac. It was exhausting getting a good rheumatologist and a diagnosis. I’ve had cancer when I was 22 and I’ve had a harder time dealing with this than I did with cancer! I wouldn’t wish this on anyone.
I had arthritic pain for almost 3 yrs now.,I took colchicine ,then prednisone off n on for 1 yr now.. I limit my rice ,too much fruit bcoz of sugar in it ..Iately I took Vit D 3 with magnesium glycinate ,I observed I can walk around without pain..hope it will continue...following from the Philippines,...tnx Doc...
I had a positive ANA reading about 5 years ago. The doctor dismissed it, telling me that my ethnicity is the reason I had a higher reading. This same doctor told me once I had gastro when I had a chest infection and needed antibiotics! Needless to say, I went elsewhere. Back to the RA topic. Yesterday, I finally had a doctor take me seriously and sent me for blood tests for RA. I have many symptoms of RA ( I have had for years), and my father was diagnosed with RA at age 49. I am now 50 years old. Hopefully, I get decent answers and can start treatment.
I'm so glad to hear that you're finally getting the attention you deserve! It's important to have a doctor who listens and takes your concerns seriously. Wishing you all the best with your blood tests and treatment!
My husband 51 years old has signs and symptoms of rheumatoid arthritis and the doctor didn’t do any blood test. The Dr did X-rays and diagnosed him elbow tendinitis. His pain was very severely when he first woke up in the morning and it would get better gradually with movements. Now he is on Meloxicam and physical therapy. I wish they did a blood test to get an accurate diagnosis.

I would love to schedule an appointment with you Dr. Grinita. I need help! I went to a rheumatologist years ago and was tested for inflammation because I was suspicious of having lupus or rheumatoid arthritis. She told me my tests came back okay but she really couldn’t tell me unless I was in the middle of a flare up. I get so sick during a flare up that I can’t even imagine going to the doctor in fact I’ve had to cancel appointments I’ve had because I have been having such a hard time walking. Can you help me? I’m going to look into having an online or telemedicine appointment
I had a Rhumitogist that told me that I didn't have lupus as of yet. He did an exam but no blood work. I had Ana positive and told me to come back when I had symptoms. I gave up on doctors! Then around 5 years later I was hurting went and seen my PCP. She sent me to a different doctor. I have Sjogrens.
All said is so true Dr's now a days don't have time or listen to Der patient's wit a passion for Der careers.....it all maybe about money or wat not sure why dey treat patient's like that.

Hi madam which lung condition associated with rheumatic diseases
Pulmonary involvement is common in rheumatic diseases, with conditions like interstitial lung disease and pulmonary hypertension being associated.

It's frustrating when doctors miss the mark, but I'm glad you finally got a proper diagnosis.
The fact that they didn't notify her of the +ANA in the first place is unbelievable. I was notified immediately and given an urgent referral.
It's important to communicate effectively with patients about their test results.
