  • A proud husband to Rebekah and the father of four, Richard McLeod has been practising as an immigration, refugee and human rights lawyer in Auckland for 25 years.
In April 2019, in opposition to the End of Life Choice bill, he founded the lawyers’ group “Lawyers for Vulnerable New Zealanders” and was joined by more than 200 New Zealand lawyers including many leading Queens / Kings Counsel, law professors and senior academics. Over the 20 months that followed, he campaigned tirelessly against the Bill and the End of Life Choice Act in the media, in parliament, and at public meetings and professional seminars across the country, seeking to educate New Zealanders about the dangers of voting the legislation through.
