Why are some people so critical? This video is about the avocado seeds not about the way he is cutting the seed or the wrong type of cutting board he is using. Some people are just so negative and find it in everything. Thanks to the gentleman for making this video.
I don't even dry the seed, slice it just like in the video, and boil it with a couple of cinnamon sticks for about 15 minutes and make a "tea." It has a pretty pink color and is quite tasty! 😊I like it cold better.
I boil them when I'm boiling eggs. The only odd thing is that the egg shells turn pinkish, but that is sort of useful since it's easy to tell which eggs are boiled and which are raw. They're easy to slice, then add to salads, etc.
Thank you for this video, I love using natural things for nutrition and health benefits. I am 65 and take NO prescriptions for anything. I am 5'7 and 125 lbs and walk 3 to 5 miles a day! Live your life!!!! God gave us everything we need for good health.
I used to blend them into my smoothies. Whole and raw. I have a Blendtec blender so it blends really well. Totally forgot about this option, thanks for the reminder!
Thanks a lot Mr, every time I used avocado, I couldn't just throw the seeds away. I just kept the seeds on the window, didn't know what to do with it felt guilty throwing it away . Thanks a million, God bless you for educating us.
Although the seeds are good, in 2019, they discovered that the brown husk / shell / skin around the seed has more antioxidants than the entire flesh of the seed. This is because the flesh of the seed is the child of the tree and the skin around that seed is to protect the seed - which is why it is filled with antibodies. @ 0:43 You brush the skin aside without mentioning how potent it is compared to the seeds you are processing. Keep the skin of those seeds because you can make it into a powder and drink it as a tea. Make sure you research for interactions and dosage if you are to consume the skin of the seed or even consume the seeds as a medicine. All things with a purpose and in moderation. Eg: A spoonful of some garden herbs might lower your blood pressure so much that you are unwell. So research for known dosage amounts and always start small and increase the dose gradually - this is because plants can have different levels of medicinal values due to soil, pH, hours of sun, water, and even Mycorrhiza can increase medicinal value due to enhanced feeding capability of the roots. So not all avocado seeds are the same. Some will be higher in X than others and some will be higher in Y than others. And no matter what supplement you consume - include black pepper as it increases the absorption rate of cells, that is why it is good to mix black pepper with things like Turmeric as you will get much more anti-inflammatory benefits than without the black pepper.
I eat Avocados weekly and very sad to know that I’ve been throwing away most of the good stuff 😢. I’m going to start using this in my overnight oatmeal 😊👌🏼 Thank you! 🙏
I've never thought that the pit of the avocado can be processed further to provide more healthy nutrients for our body. Thank you very much for your presentation. I'll continue on checking on your UA-cam channel presentation for any or/or more tips on good healthy food eating habits as well as saving tips for our money. Great presentation! Holly Paladino Doesn’t take long at all. All you have to do is place the seed “belly button” side down in a small dish or bowl of water. You’ll know what I mean by belly button when you see it. It grows it’s root in water. No need for propping it up with toothpicks. I find that frustrating and a waste of time. Keep it partially submerged in water, half way up the seed and you’ll be fine. I even grow ginger this way. Mango seeds are a bit different.
They get very big pretty fast I have one that I planted in May and 5 months later it's almost 3 feet I don't know what are you going to do with so many seedlings unless you have a big back yard and you live somewhere in the south
I've had better luck with growing them straight into the garden soil. Lay the seed on its side and just cover it with a 1/4" of soil. Keep it watered and wait... EASY!
Excuse me if I'm wrong, but the reason the color is changing to the darker orange, is because the seed material has become oxidized through the processing. That means the antioxidants have already been used up. I'm sure you would still get the benefits of the fiber, but I don't think you are getting much antioxidant benefit from this powder.
The reason it’s red is because the increased surface area + exposure to air has oxidized it. You may want to try blending it in a smoothie directly so it doesn’t come in contact with as much air and therefore doesn’t oxidize as much but retains the increased surface area so it can do the maximum amount of work in your body 😃
I've started using it this morning. It taste kinda like an almond to me. I used my nutrition bullet to blend and wallah 💛😊. The pit that you blend is soft by the way.

How you put the power and not all the way grounded avocado seed on the cutting board was a marvelous idea . Showing the differences between them . Good job
It doesn't have a bad taste but it does rapidly dry the tongue out. I think that's because of the antioxidants that cause that. I don't have a food processor so I threw them in the blender for about 20 minutes set on liquidy. That seems to work. I mixed some in my green smoothy and its dryness is barely noticable.
One thing everyone should know is that is has a short shelf life. If you want to keep it longer grind it down and dehydrate it to help it last longer. My first time trying this mine got moldy pretty quick, just helping out. Good video.
Thank you for informing us about the antioxidant benefit. I don’t have an oven but I think I’ll try keeping them overnight in the yogurt setting on my instant pot. That should dry them out. I’m going to try this but not because of the collagen. Collagen is digested and breaks down into amino acids and minerals. They are absorbed and assimilated like any other amino acids and minerals and not as collagen.
I have been pushing them into the back garden dirt and they are growing. One is about 60cm (2 foot) high. Not sure if it will fruit as it gets cold here. I will wait and see. I will definitely give this a go 👍

Jade Hunter find your local farmer!!!! They still sell watermelons with seeds. In some grocery stores, you can still find them with seeds but you'll pay more - it's worth it! Very interesting video! I eat avocados 3-4 times a week & I am just now seeing this video! LOL...I ate one for lunch and just went & got the seed out of the garbage! I also have two avocado trees which, I started from the seeds as well, planted in my back yard now but it could be several years till they produce any fruit. Thanks for the video!!
Roasted avocado seeds ! Great for nut substitute and for dishes. The reason it turns dark brown is because it has oxidized similar to tea leaves being dried.

Cats and dogs may become slightly ill from eating avocado flesh or seeds. Because the pits are so fibrous, they also pose a risk of gastric obstruction. The pits are considered toxic to birds, cattle, horses, rabbits, and goats. Avocado pits also cause problems for people who are allergic to latex. If you can't tolerate bananas or peaches, it's best to steer clear of avocado seeds. The seeds contain high levels of tannins, trypsin inhibitors, and polyphenols that act as anti-nutrients, which means they reduce your ability to absorb certain vitamins and minerals. In addition to persin and tannin, avocado seeds also contain small quantities of hydrocyanic acid and cyanogenic glycosides, which can produce toxic hydrogen cyanide. Other types of seeds containing cyanogenic compounds include apple seeds, cherry pits, and citrus fruit seeds. However, the human body can detoxify small amounts of the compounds, so there's no risk of cyanide poisoning to an adult person from eating a single seed. Persin may cause apoptosis of some types of breast cancer cells, plus it enhances the cytotoxic effects of the cancer drug tamoxifen. However, the compound is soluble in oil rather than water, so further research is needed to see whether an extract of the seed can be made into a useful form. The California Avocado Commission recommends people avoid eating the avocado seed (though of course they encourage you to enjoy the fruit).
Powders with a lot of fiber in them can expand in your throat (causing gastric obstruction) if you don't drink enough water to wash it down. The label on the psyllium husk powder I use says: "This product should be taken with at least a full glass of liquid. Taking this product without enough liquid may cause choking." Who knew?
They make a great looking tree. Ive grown many myself. It was very popular to grow them when I was kid growing up in the So Cal South Bay area, trending in the 70's. Everybody had them in their homes sitting in a sunny window.
This is great! It is only a giant seed, we eat other seeds. When I was in school, our science teacher told us the seed is the fruit, the rest is a 'fleshy receptacle' . Just a meaty suit to carry and protect the real fruit!
he said that from a biologists standpoint, and not from a nutrition standpoint. the seeds are almost always not the best part of a fruit, because the flesh is not there to carry and protect the seed, but to give enough nutrients to the seed when it falls off a tree, or to make it attractive to animals that eat the fruit and therefore carry the seed to new locations the seeds on the other hand often contain poison, so that they cant be eaten, so that its easier for trees to reproduce. what your biologist meant was badly phrased, but in reality he was saying that to give children a new perspective on the topic, bc children often see only the flesh but not the seeds. meaning that what he meant was: the tree grows out of the seed, and not out of the fruit
I was watching a video when yours popped up and I skipped the other video for this. I love avocados but always trashed the seed. Thanks for sharing. Already thinking of making a face mask with it, it looks so smooth👌👍
What would happen if you soak it in vodka for 21 days? Reason I ask is cause there is a tincture that is great for thyroid that is made from soaking the membrane or pits of walnuts in vodka for 21 days that you take orally that fixes problems with the thyroid. Just curious 🤔
Ty ! One of the best videos I’ve seen on this ! How long does it stay sealed, how do I contain it, and should it be airtight!.? I know I’d use it quickly but wondering if I could make a big batch and store it ?

Powders with a lot of fiber in them can expand in your throat (causing gastric obstruction) if you don't drink enough water to wash it down. The label on the psyllium husk powder I use says: "This product should be taken with at least a full glass of liquid. Taking this product without enough liquid may cause choking." Who knew?
Good to know. I am pretty allergic to bananas, pineapple, kiwi... Mildly to coconut and avocado
Put it in a vita mix. That grinds everything. I’ve put whole pits in smoothies. Tastes greeeeeeen! Thanks for telling people about this gift.
I've been just throwing them away, but I'm going to start using them.
Will use the powder in my smoothie and also make a paste and use it as mask on my face
RIP if you’re wearing headphones at 3:02 lol

L
Tumeric in this mix improve it. Look up the benefits of Tumeric.
Wow I learned something I didn’t know about this I think the seed was just good for planting 👍❤️thank u for the info
The comment section is the best part of the video.
As always, Commentaries are very important, and many times the best and more informative. Be sure to read the every time, indeed!
Hi
Thank you for wonderful hints l prefer to grate the seed before drying then dry then you can easily grind to lovely powder
I'm with you. I also thought that's a good alternative.
Good info. Love avacados. Always thought the seed was poisonous
Avocado seeds makes magic, Haitian people talk about it a lot. It's very healthy for your overall health.
Replant them and they sell for $70 aus once they are 30cm tall. Takes a few months but worth it.
Old wives tale. Just like the Kentia palm seed myth.
I know same with root vegetables - with carrots the green part is super nutritious - add to salads - never throw it out
he said that from a biologists standpoint, and not from a nutrition standpoint.
the seeds are almost always not the best part of a fruit, because the flesh is not there to carry and protect the seed, but to give enough nutrients to the seed when it falls off a tree, or to make it attractive to animals that eat the fruit and therefore carry the seed to new locations
the seeds on the other hand often contain poison, so that they cant be eaten, so that its easier for trees to reproduce.
what your biologist meant was badly phrased, but in reality he was saying that to give children a new perspective on the topic, bc children often see only the flesh but not the seeds. meaning that what he meant was: the tree grows out of the seed, and not out of the fruit
I never waste any seeds, but I would never imagine the benefits of the seeds. Outstanding. Thank you so much for your video. That is awesome.
Hi?
I grind these up with my peach and apricot pits. I normally sprinkle it on my salad. The taste is to die for!
haha, I see what you did there
Peach and apricot seeds contain cyanide, not recommended!!
@@nothing578 that took you 3 years to respond
@@ronnag13 just seen the video, didn't notice the time. It is a shame nothing was said earlier (on purpose and not funny btw).
I have a 2 yr old avocado tree and it is growing like a weed. Beautiful!!
Pinch the top growth at about 3-4 feet tall, so it branches out and doesn't get to tall. Makes it easier to reach the fruit when it matures.
Well, I've boiled the seeds before and used them to dye paper, but this video is all new to me.
What color did it deliver for you?
Orange?!?
I was watching a video when yours popped up and I skipped the other video for this. I love avocados but always trashed the seed. Thanks for sharing. Already thinking of making a face mask with it, it looks so smooth👌👍
Great Idea!!! Thanks for the suggestion.
Hi. I grate mine and let it dry on a plate. Once dry it can be rubbed into powder. So much easier and use less utensils Amazing!
I think is even better if we dry it under the sun. I think in a way the sun would loud it with even more nutrients.
Yup the microwave is the murderer of nutrients
@@turnipzoo6207 And the sun emits all types of radiation but the ozone protects us but not from UV
Wow. I eat avocados daily, and I just happened to have several pits drying, not knowing for what. now I know! Thanks.
Lol
Hi
Great! I've always wondered how to use the avocado seed.
What would happen if you soak it in vodka for 21 days? Reason I ask is cause there is a tincture that is great for thyroid that is made from soaking the membrane or pits of walnuts in vodka for 21 days that you take orally that fixes problems with the thyroid. Just curious 🤔
😁😀😃😃😃😃
What kind of thyroid problem?
Ty ! One of the best videos I’ve seen on this ! How long does it stay sealed, how do I contain it, and should it be airtight!.? I know I’d use it quickly but wondering if I could make a big batch and store it ?
what I'll do is cut or chop them up green.then when dry grind it up. Simple. I always. knew it has nutrients. Thanks for the tips.
Wow. Who would have known you could use the seed. Wow, collagen is amazing for your skin!! I’ll never throw one away again. Thanks for making a great video. Have subbed and will check out your other videos
They have collegen?
Yep! That is LOUD! 🙃. .as I listened w/my ear buds on.
Fruit seed are very nutritious including apple and apricot seeds. Yes apple and apricot seeds, mainly apricots I love the health benefits they have.
I read apple seeds are poisonous contains cyanide, check it on Google
he is full of shit
Thanks for the video. I felt guilty throwing away the seed but now i know what to do with it.
Thanks for sharing. It always bothered me to toss those pits but no more. Happy health to you!
you can also partial submerge them in water and grow an avocado tree.
I always thought I could do something with the seed. Thanks!!
