Thanks for the explanation, I'm still trying to understand what is different about the Hiel headset Elecraft sells but from this video I'm comfortable that I can pick pretty much any of them.

I may be missing something but I have looked on your website and I can't work out which headset terminiates in the correct plugs for the kx3. Could you point me in the right direction.

The stereo 3-way plug goes into headphone socket and the 2-pin plig goes into mic socket 73s Peter
