My Wish: Andrew Meets Tedy Bruschi

  • Andrew was diagnosed with a rare heart defect at birth, and was on the operating table at 1 week old. The 6-year-old New England Patriots fan finds common ground with player, Tedy Bruschi, and that's who he wishes to meet.
"My Wish" is a collaborative effort with Make-A-Wish that chronicles the granting of unique sports-related wishes for children with life-threatening medical conditions.
Make-A-Wish® grants the wish of a child diagnosed with a life-threatening medical condition in the United States and its territories, on average, every 38 minutes. We believe that a wish experience can be a game-changer. This one belief guides us. It inspires us to grant wishes that change the lives of the kids we serve.

This is Andrew’s mom. My sweet Andrew passed on January 7. He is rejoicing with the angels now. Please pray for him. This MAKE A WISH was a huge highlight of his life ❤️ We will never forget how kind Tedy Bruschi and the whole
NE Patriots organization was and how wonderful the Make A Wish program
    is.

These stories are all great especially when there is a similar medical bond between the child and his hero. But one of the risks of checking in on these shows 12 years on is knowing for some of these wish kids a full recovery is not in the cards. So sorry to hear that Andrew died recently. As someone who had seven brain surgeries by the time I was Andrew's age in this story, I completely connect with the pain, uncertainty and ultimately the lack of a healthy outcome for so many medically challenged kids. My thanks to this brave family for sharing their story then and even more so for publicly sharing their loss now.

Teddy and his family lived up the street from me before he moved to Connecticut. He lived in a simple raised ranch in a regular neighborhood. I read he paid cash for the house . The other Patriots lived down the road away in a development that had mostly million plus homes . One of which was the infamous Aaron Hernandez . The cars that pulled out of that neighborhood were all high end luxury models . Teddy drove a Mitsubishi Mini Van . He and his family would usually eat breakfast at a family restaurant up the street on weekends off season . The people in town were respectful and pretty much left them alone . Maybe a younger child would shyly wave or say hi and he would always respond with a great smile back . Read his book a book how he grew up . The book explains a lot . He never had an agent and negotiated his own contracts with the Pats . My prized possession is a framed , signed # 54 Jersey hanging in the Man Cave I received as a Christmas gift . He’s a class act .

Teddy Bruschi was always one of my favorite PATRIOTS players. After watching this... he sealed it. May God bless Teddy and Andrew. What a great video. I enjoyed it all. I was at the PATRIOTS game when Teddy Bruschi returned after the stroke. He walked the perimeter of the field and thanked the fans for the love and support. So many of us were crying happy tears with him. Today, July 6, 2019 I heard he had a stroke and left the hospital today. I had no idea. May God heal him again. Yes, GOD BLESS TEDDY AND ANDREW!
    Peace, and Prayers, Lynne 🏈
