    Dr. David I can't impress upon you how much this video has affected me. I've been going through some major life struggles and recently made a discovery about my duality/narcissism based on the trauma I received growing up. Finding your video today not only solidified my thoughts, but you provided me such a relief man. I'm really not crazy. It's a been a long road man. Thank you again!

    Another brilliant journey back to the source. When I did it I realised, I’m enough and this life is enough and let’s see what the future holds.

    I find your videos super useful. Through watching your videos I’ve been able to catch my self having negative thoughts or holding a negative mindset. It’s amazing to see how many emotions I’ve been repressing or ignoring and by bringing awareness to my emotions I’ve been able to discover what I really been believing. It’s been very revealing and healing. Thank you for making these videos!

      Hi Malee. Thanks for sharing your experiences and your feedback. The stories we find ourselves in are attempts to live with the difficult emotion. It's certainly not always easy to go deeper into the feelings at times. My next video will go into this in more detail. Keep up the good work. I'll keep trying too 🙏

    I love all of your videos, but I really love this one in particular. There's a lot of food for thought, but even more importantly, it gives an actual step by step analysis, a strategy, for change. Instead of change being so difficult that we give up, give in, it gives a way to find your inner power. That's AWESOME! What treasure. Thank you so much. I can't thank you enough. Love from California ❤

    your videos are amazing, this one really solidified what I have only seen a glimmer of in my darkest moments. The more i have explored my brain the more I am realising I need to address the defective stories I have been carrying as that seems to be the root of everything. Thank you again for making this knowledge so accessible and easily understandable.

    I’ve been a humanistic and psychodynamic practitioner for years after leaving the CbT world and only using CBT minimally as a part of changing behaviour or gaining insight. But your work is great for bringing that stuff together so cleary.

    We are all one. Nothing more beautiful than the bliss peace and safety of the selfless present moment . I experience it all the time and it’s absolutely gorgeous it’s beyond the mind and beyond what can be comprehended . It’s like Jesus said a peace that goes beyond understanding . It is a feeling realization , not an intellectual one . We are not our personality we are SELF , pure , with no needs , all needs are already met NOW and forever . With love - Jerzy

    This is a really good vid. But it's hard to follow without an actual scenario. Can you please make some stories with characters and how scenarios play out, how trauma works and affects us?
    Examples of projections from shame and guilt. As well as other coping mechanisms.
    Thanks!

    Interesting and useful indeed. So, trauma invariably leads to split, Dissociation with self and false self ( ego)? And also the polarisation ( black and white perspective) over everything? And evading responsibility to heal and be true self?
    If you can answer these, it will affirm some work I'm processing. Thankyou for insightful and suggestive videos on such issues.

    Brilliant as usual, thank you! Interested when you say ‘body work’ - I’ve been in talk psychotherapy for 5yrs but hearing more lately about somatic experiencing and sometimes wonder if I need a complementary approach like yoga or a somatic experiencing therapist. But my therapist definitely makes me sit through my uncomfortable/painful feelings so I wonder if that is the real work and enough anyway. Would be interested in your thoughts?

      I'm very thankful. I would definitely say the work you're doing with your therapist is incredibly helpful. In fact, that's often the most beneficial part of therapy in my view. Having someone to guide you through the intense emotional experience is invaluable and certainly qualifies as body work in my view. The invitation to feel the things we resist is the thing that makes us question most of all 🙏

      You might explore the Feldenkrais Method. It uses small, gentle movements as inquiry -- exploring ease and possibility. It manifests as ease in movement and can reduce painful patterns -- but it's most powerful at changing sense of self, learning to listen to oneself with gentleness and possibility. Wishing you all the best! We're all so lucky to have found this channel.

    Do you have any books where I can read about these relationship dynamics and how to go beyond concepts? This sounds a lot like duality explained by Eastern philosophies, especially Advaita (which itself means non-duality). I struggle to understand your philosophy with respect to abusive relationships, specifically narcissistic abuse. I was under the impression that I was unconditionally loving the man I am married to, till one day, I realized that he abuses me for his own satisfaction. Does one still carry on accepting such a relationship?

    • @drdavidmaloneypsychotherapy
      @drdavidmaloneypsychotherapy  2 роки тому

      I have a relationship course on my site which might be of use. Yes, this video goes deeper into the non-dual territory. However, both the human and spiritual aspects of relationships are worthy of respect.
