Interesting. This is the first time I've heard that the soft hackle represents the shedding of the exoskeleton. I always assumed it represented the legs and wings. It definitely makes me rethink my patterns. Additionally, most pictures I've seen of emerging Ephemeroptera show the exoskeleton coming off the rear of the fly.
I noticed you didn't counter wrap the rib. Does this effect the coloration and presentation?
