Thanks Tim that was a fun video. You must have had a good dose of coffee that morning. Carson is a great addition and has a lot of enthusiasm. I almost always start with a Crackleback in yellow. Cast up stream then drown it and let it swing across at the bottom of the drift. They often hit it as it rises below me.
Hey Mel, thanks so much! People keep telling me about the Crackleback, I need to try one soon! It was kind of you to share the method, too. Thanks again! Tim www.troutandfeather.com
Hi Tim, I haven't figured out what months to fish egg patterns ! It seems I'm either too early or too late. Can you please give me some help. I haven't been able to find any wading pants that fit, what brand are you wearing ? Thanks, keep up the good work !
Absolutely, fish eggs all year round! My mantra is simple: Show me a trout and I'll show you a fish that will eat an egg. ;-) The waders are Dryft, and I recommend them in the waist-high model. Learn more about them here, and be sure to tell them I sent you: dryftfishing.com/product-category/waders/ Thanks! Tim
Hello Tim, I'm from Singapore, we don't have much places to fish in, we only have reserviour where there're Peacock Bass and the Snake head. But I do not know what fries to use. Also, I'm not a flytier, I just learn how to tie. Can you kindly give some pointer?
So what I see here is caviar, bacon and eggs, the house cleaner, variations of the meat pole, and hors d'ouvres for this fly box. Good video, keeping it fun.
I'm an egg heathen. I tie mine with a tungsten bead and nymph it. Squirmy Wormy finally tried one of those last year. Yep, they work! My buddy caught a 39 inch Pennask bow in lake last year with the Mop. All good patterns. Thanks Tim.
We have a lake with stocked trout and I’ve tied a pellet fly I call with a hook sandwiched between two pieces of brown foam cut in a circle. Works wonders for about a week or so after they’ve be released. Thanks for the videos
I always enjoy your videos. In fact, I look forward to you posting a new one each time. You bring a very unique view and a very “up” attitude to the process. Also, thank you very much for investing in our children. Good teachers that truly love being a mentor and instructor to the next generation is becoming harder and harder to find.
I appreciate the kind words, Terry, and this was a fun video to make! Any productive flies you'd recommend? Thanks ahead of time! Tim www.troutandfeather.com
Hey Tim, I was curious if you have noticed a difference in mop fly material? I bought a rainx ball and cutt off the pieces from that, which work great. But after a few fish, it seems like the tail unravles and I'm left with just where I tied it in. I don't remember having that problem with mop bodies I bought from fly tying supplies.
Great question, and not all things are created equal. I'm seeing more variety of Mop material hit the market; it's not all the same. Some of my favorite material is the stuff I bought on eBay from wearable feet mops, imagine that! Thanks for the question and I hope all is well. Tim www.troutandfeather.com
Personally I have no problem with mop flies. They imitate grubs that wash into the stream. In certain places I think they are very common. Just dig up a shovel full of dirt and see what's there. Keep the good stuff coming Tim.
Another great video, I don’t care if they’re stocked or not either. I just want to catch fish! What pants are you wearing? Looks like they are made for wading in smaller waters without having to have specific waders. Thanks.
Hi Jason, and thanks for the kind words! The waders are Dryft, and they are super comfortable. Waist-high waders that are perfect for late spring until early fall. Check them out here: dryftfishing.com/product-category/waders/ If you have specific questions about them, shoot me an email: tcammisa@gmail.com Thanks! Tim
I love your very positive videos. I would also add a y2k bug (okay, it’s sort of like an egg), mini chubby Chernobyl and a wool bugger (I am partial to thin mint buggerss.)
Thanks so much, Dale, and it's no secret: I'm always excited talking about fly fishing! Great fly choices, and I would love to see what you Mini Chubby Chernobyl looks like, if you have a pic: tcammisa@gmail.com Thanks again! Tim
Sounds great, Jeff, will you send me a dozen?? Tying season is nearly over and it's time to spend more time on the water. ;-) Tim www.troutandfeather.com
no leech?! I mean nothing is better than the egg leech combo. What I love about your channel and your not afraid to share trash flies. Yeah its trash who cares we are catching flies. I peg beads, glue beads to hooks with egg yarn, peg worms, leeches. ... its deadly. Oh another fave, feed a red bead over your squirmy worm and peg it. Muahahaha
Probably so there are even more fish for people to catch. Wise ... can't say. I've heard in a lot of places they prioritize stock fish over wild populations.
Great question, Ryan, and that really varies by watershed, state, stream goals, etc. My recommendation is to talk to a fisheries biologist in the area and find out directly from them. If you learn anything, I'd love to hear more about it: tcammisa@gmail.com Thanks! Tim
Hey, come on Tim………. It’s all about tricking a trout to bite a fake whatever. If I thought it would work, I’d split a trout food pellet and glue it back together around a hook. No harm, no foul.😊
No clue why, but I have always had good luck on stockers with a size 16 -18 very pale blue egg. 100% in agreement about white wooly buggers. When they rise and strike my indicator, I tie on a "Flyndicator" with a short tippet on.the bend and either a size 18 zebra midge or PT. The fake indicator is simply a bright orange foam figure 8 tied at its mid point near the bend, folded forward and tied at the head. Works every time for the dumb ones!
That blue egg sounds perfect, James, thanks for the suggestion! And there's no such thing as dumb fish, just curious ones. ;-) Tim www.troutandfeather.com
@@TimCammisa I normally put a wrap of lead foil on the hook shank which is enough, if was to use it on moving water then I would have a few unweighted.
Tim, this makes me sick hearing you talk about these junk so-called flies, (don’t tell my fishing buddies, but I have them all in a secret fly box hidden deep down in my backpack)…you disgust me 😅😂

How would you tie a standup jig using maribou ?
Very small yellow egg pattern can simulate corn. I know-I know, it's pretty low and slum fishing, but it can work on fresh stocked hatchery trout.
The best mop color I've found is a mint green. Hard to find, but it is deadly!
My goto fly is the Iron blue dun (wet and dry) in size from 10 -> 22- fish it on a small streams brook and sea trout.
Sounds like it's a winning fly, I love that it can be fished as a dry and subsurface! Thanks for sharing. Tim www.troutandfeather.com
In my state we mostly have stocked trout with just a small native brook trout population. I’ll have to try these on the stocked fish.
