Wonderful video, very relaxing and soothing! I love hearing your thought process behind the colors that you use and you switch out.

Oh thank you so much! I'm glad you found it relaxing. I love making swatch cards/charts, they're repetitive in the best way

I have just reset mine too. I'm a landscaper as well and use mostly earthy tones. For the greens I use Hookers Green dark and Light, Sap Green, Olive green. Blues- Indigo (great for shadows), Pthalo for mixing, Cobalt, Ultramarine and Cerulean. Lemon yellow (not happy with this), Cadmium Yellow, Cadmium Orange, Cadmium Red, Light Red, Alizarine Crimson. The usual suspects for the earth tones- Yellow Ochre, Burnt Sienna, Burnt Umber, Raw umber. For purples I always use Pthalo Blue and Aliz Crimson. All of my colours are by Cotman (a well known brand here in the U.K.). My swatch sheet is no way as neat as yours, but does the job. Many thanks for sharing and I look forward to following you throughout the year.

oh do you mean the the winsor and newton cotman paints? I have one of their sketcher pocket palette sets!
I used to have alizarine crimson on my palette before I swapped it for pyrrol red-I like the darker color of alizarine crimson but I needed something brighter.
How do like Hookers green? I don’t have any of either of them but I was thinking about trying them.

@@srsigdesigns Yes, the Winsor and Newton ones. Love Hookers Green. Primarily used for mixing other greens, but with light washes are great for trees in the distance.

It always makes me sad when artists feel that they have to justify their color choices. I think a split primary mixing palette is mostly just good for beginner artists who don't know color theory and how to mix and haven't yet found their groove/niche in the art world, but it seems to have become the "standard" of what artists "should" do. It's annoying. I love seeing unique palettes which people create to suit their needs and their art - it's quite literally the most exciting part of seeing these palette set-up videos. Thanks for sharing.

thank you so much for your comment!! I agree-one of my favorite parts of watching other artists’ palette videos is finding fun new paint colors I want to try out, and having a classic mixing palette wasn’t as fun for me.
I like to acknowledge that my palette isn’t a typical split primary mixing palette so that people who are looking for that know they won’t find it here 😄 (I will admit it did feel like I needed to justify that choice, even if I really didn’t)
