WOW what a huge step up from the first one! I started the 1st one when the 3rd one was about to release but I immediately stopped watching everything about the series to avoid some spoilers. Now that I’m wrapping up the first I’m so escorted to start this one! This was an excellent review, the thoroughness is MUCH appreciated. Thank you!
Never in my life i would have thought that these games are SO good. Started with Atelier Ryza 1 and expected a cheap AA JRPG. It wasn't! There are so many mechanics in the game, everything is crafted with so much care, i love the fighting system (especially in Ryza 2), the characters are so likeable and Rzya is such a sweet main character. I finished Ryza 2 just half an hour ago, after 90 hours of playing it, and now this series absolutely belongs for me to the big names in the JRPG genre, like Persona, Final Fantasy, Dragon Quest and many more.
@@samuelgonzalez-tovar3936 I beat it around 70 hours but that’s only if you kinda grind/farm for materials and try to make a lot of things using alchemy. I’d say you could probably finish it in about 50 or less if you toy with alchemy a lot less, tho you won’t be getting maximum potential gear (can still buy some of them at shops)
cheap aa is an oxymoron. jrpgs are often on smaller budgets to begin with. kind of locking yourself out of great games if youre only going by high budget, well known titles lmfao, actual drone behavior.
@@TetoSuperFan I own hundreds of indie and AA games. I have no clue how you came to that conclusion after reading my comment. Maybe "cheap" has a little bit different meaning in my language.
Great review! You mentioned quite a few important things other reviewers didn’t touch on at all, like the quest board, soundtrack, architecture/design, how many members in battle, etc... So excited that Gust delivered on this one! Can’t wait to play it~ I’m not into the thighs/fanservice so I’m glad Gust put real effort into the game itself (because we know they’re capable of it from their previous games/franchises) P.s. I love how you pronounce Ryza like pizza (Rait-za) 😋
I love this game. To me, who cares if it had some down sides in battle skills or something. All games have good and bad things. But I it. I also love the Monsters. My favorite monster is those Sprit Flower Pixie, Fairies.
Omg i thought they changed the dropping quick paced turn based stuff , that is preventing me to enjoy the first one, i want a turn base game to be turn base 😧
Yeah but you can go and play any other Atelier game before Ryza because they ALL have turn based battles... Or alternatively, another incredible turn-based game that came out recently, Yakuza: Like a Dragon 👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽
@@zoozbuh yep, i have the previous ps4 trilogy and the dusk ps3 trilogy, i just wanted to continue with the series. Hmm, i thought all yakuza games were action games and not turn based, i have to check that one.
@@NoisyPixelNews Not easy enough for me I'm afraid I'll hold out hope for a patch. I'll still get it because I want my bonus costumes but 115 hours on very easy after long days of work was simply the best most chillest time I had last year in Ryza. I can tell because I couldn't play the dlc.
Is there a combat guide video for this game? I'm new to this type of battle system and only used to direct real time action/hack n slash. Maybe you can make a basic guide for the battle system?
I might be able to do that. This week is incredibly busy, the low down is this: stock AP with normal attacks using O, then when you have enough AP, attack three times with O, press R1 and use a skill, your party members will often request you use magic or physical skills, if you listen to that your max AP will raise and they’ll do a follow up skill. Then if you want to get fancy, once your max AP hits 25 in tougher battles, you can chain together your skills, then Switch to your supporting character with L1, and unleash their skills. Hope that helps!
Should i get this on switch(og v2 animal crossing model) or ps4 fat(matte black version model) I beat ryza1 on ps4 and the graphics n frame rate are just lovely.
If only this game is not overpriced on the PSN. The ps4 version costs like f$cking 70$ in the Asian region just for the standard edition alone. Koei techmo is greedier than even the likes of EA.
you missied most important part and thats story, why shoud we bother to do all this? is it worth it at all? or its just bla blablalba blalbala 40 hours like first ryza?
@HotDance No, I kinda get what you mean. The first Ryza had a good story “on paper” (in theory, it should have been great) but actually it felt very rushed and generic to me compared to past Atelier games. I think it’s because they cut down on the character events and development to just focus on the plot.
Remembered buying this and getting a refund cos I really can't stand the way Ryza walks and run. It looked so painful it tore me away from the game, which is a shame. It's unfortunate that the sequel still has that painful looking walk and run animation. Oh well, hope people still enjoy it.
I don’t see what you mean by “painful”? Do you mean literally painful, or painful for you to watch? I’m not a fan of the fanservice direction Gust has taken with Atelier, and I literally eyeroll every time the camera pans to Ryza’s ass/thighs, BUT I would never let that stop me from playing. These games are genuinely great and are mostly wholesome and addictive, so I really hope you give it another chance. Or at least try the Atelier Dusk trilogy!!
@@zoozbuh it looked so painful to watch, I just cringed whenever she moves. I usually am not bothered with excessive fanservice so that didn't bother me. But her walking and running animation though, I just can't. Edit: Also, yeah. Been a fan since Atelier Iris days.
@@NoisyPixelNews lol, not really. I mean, based on the previews and reviews, it seemed that Atelier Ryza seemed to improve 2 things that I had some issues with the series, like story, battles and system. Just that her walking and running animation that stopped me from diving in.
I loathe how the game is childish in tone yet uses blatant sexual fanservice focusing on the character's ass. It's a strategy to boost sales, but it breaks any immersion and makes both the developer and the community look bad to outsiders.

Thanks for the review! Gonna pick it on switch
Awesome! Thanks for watching
Between this, Cybershadow, and the new Dead Cells DLC, it’s a good day for gaming!
Nice review. Maybe I should give the Atelier series a try. Is Ryza (1 of course) a good start or would you recommend another entry for a newbie?
Ryza 1 is very newcomer friendly. It’s really good though and may make it difficult to go back further in the series haha

Nice review.
thanks
So it's centered around alchemy/crafting? So essentially it's just 1 big fetch quest?
All atelier games are fetch quests but this one is more exploration based
So would I have to play the first to "get" this one? Kind of picked it up off a whim but havent started yet
