Great video! Sounds like excellent horror coming out in future and love some of the covers. You've read some great books so far. I loved Misery and Elizabeth sounds intriguing. I have been wanting to read The Only Good Indians for a while now.

Yup, I also DNF a book before it becomes a two or one star. Love that you do it too. Life’s too short to read books you don’t like!
Okay literally every anticipated read you talked about I am so stoked for!!
Bloom is a dark cottagecore dream 😍 Ooo okay I will be cautious about the Carrow Haunt. I’ve been slowly making my way through her backlit but eek, you hated it haha. Oh no, you won’t read anything else by her?????? 😢 I get that. Not every author is for everyone. I just really love how she does atmosphere!

@@happyhauntslibrary It’s possible that the only two Darcy Coates books I picked up were just not the ones. I’m open to suggestions if there are others that may shock me. Just the two I read didn’t. I just can’t say why without spoilers. Atmosphere is something she really does very well. I agree with you on that and it is something I enjoy. If you do read The Carrow Haunt I’d be curious what you think. I sound super picky but it was mutual between 5 of us on that one. Lol. However, if it’s atmosphere you want…⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️. It had that for sure!

Yay for DNFing books! There are so many books we want to read, so why suffer through a book that we're not enjoying? So many good books coming out this year! I'm currently reading an arc of Lucy Undying. I'm liking it, but it's taking me a while to get through it. The Misery movie adaptation is really good.

@@literarylove123 You got an ARC of Lucy Undying? Lucky! Why do you think it’s taking a bit to get through it? Is it just a slow read?

    • @literarylove123

@spookylittlebooknerd I have an ebook arc and I just keep forgetting about it or prioritizing other books. Also, it has multiple POVs & I'm not really feeling invested in any of them. I'm about 34 percent into it and honestly haven't read it in probably a couple of weeks. I think it's a me thing

@@spookylittlebooknerd YES to all those! Mr. Mercedes trilogy was pretty good. Shining and Doctor Sleep was good but I'm not sure why it's as hyped as it is. IT was the rare one that the 1990s tv movie was better than the book. Under the Dome was terrible and Everything's Eventual is not good so far (current read).

I read Stalking Jack the Ripper last year, and I had multiple issues with it as well! For me, the ending was predictable, and the author's lack of knowledge/research about historical clothes irked me greatly.

Self-Made Monsters looks and sounds pretty good.
Fang Fiction looks interesting. I just saw Lucy Undying advertised last night.
The film (Misery) is really good; I need to read the book someday. Stalking Jack the Ripper sounds interesting, unfortunate it repeats so much.
What was the first Darcy Coats you read?
I don't know if I said this the last time it was mentioned but Walking Practice sounds funny and crazy.
So far, my favourite book for the year is Against the Darkness, with a few fairly close behind.

My first Darcy Coates was Dead of Winter. It was dark and gory which was nice. Definitely kept me on the edge of my seat but I guess the killer right away which was a bummer. Walking Practice is freaking wild! I loved it! Like I mentioned in my original review, there’s more to it than just surface level. It was a fun one. I’m definitely looking into Against the Darkness! 🖤
