Back when Anette was hired, there were complaints circulating around the press that she was hired more for her appearance than her vocal abilities, so Nightwish made this video with the stand-in models in response to that criticism.

thank you for explaining that. I was very very confused by the all female band playing in the video. I thought that maybe Chase had grabbed a cover band doing this song by mistake somehow(I know, Chase wouldn't make that kind of mistake, but I was very very very confused, lol). I don't listen to this song all that much, much as I love it, because I know Nightwish had removed this song from active service, because they have buried the hatchet with Tarja, so to speak. That's why I never go out of my way to find this song, kind of as a gesture of respect to them moving on.
Nightwish wanted to make something different but years later, they realized Anette's voice doesn't fit with Nightwish style.
Since you are looking anette song, i recomend meadows of heaven, it is just a magical song

I have always adored Anette's vocals, ALL 3 singers bring something different to the band. As for another Anette song, I would recommend Meadows of Heaven, it's absolutely stunning and highly underrated.

Slow, Love, Slow is the perfect Annette song for me. It's even up there with my favourite Nightwish songs. It is just Tuomas using her skills very well.
I hope very much that Marko's leaving is a temporary thing. He's such an integral part of the band.

I literally dissolved into tears as Marco started singing here. I guess it took that for me to finally realise that we wouldn't hear his amazing voice and his amazing bass with Nightwish again. He will be missed but I hope he's okay, that's the most important. And I'm sure his replacement is gonna kick ass too.
Been on that mind set now for two days too. Never before had tears with this song but now I did. Dash!

I think Chase will dig this one for sure. I always felt this song was a tad under appreciated. I am struggling watching Nightwish videos this week. I am still crushed by the announcement. I will however be around for Nightwish Saturdays. Be damned if I miss one.
I do not believe it's under appreciated, it has a tons of youtube views for example. They do not play it live because it clearly adressed to Tarja and they do not want to go there, Tuomas has said so specifically. I also think it got a lot of air time on MTV back then, not sure anymore though, it's been maaany years since it was released.
It has more views than any other Nightwish song.

This hurts my heart. There’s no voice like Marco, he’s irreplaceable, but it’s so important to look after himself. I hope a year off helps him significantly and he returns stronger than ever.

It is weird how this song brings all the memories. This song always makes me think of my ex best friend, we were practically inseparable. But, she let me know that everything I could do, she could do it better, but in a rather subtle kind of way. She insulted me (behind my back) in front of my Mom, who was then super disappointed in her but wouldn't tell me what she said. It took me 4 or 5 years to realize exactly how toxic that friendship was, and my mom once told me "that isn't a friendship" but I didn't listen, I was in my late teens, didn't have many friends and was just glad to have someone.
So this song and "Never enough" by Tarja always reminds me of that "friendship".
Sorry for the rant, just needed to get that off my chest I guess, even though it's been nearly 10 years by now.

This was one of the very first songs from Nightwish that I ever heard, and was for sure a favourite from that album. For their next song how about their cover of Phantom of the Opera from the End of an Era concert? You still haven't done that one, and for me it's Marko's single best vocal performance, so it seems fitting to give it a look, given his recent news.

I was always so disappointed by the Nightwish fans bullying Annette, she's an amazing singer and did such a great job on the 2 albums and just got absolutely ripped to shreds by Tarja fanboys.

I think that each of the female lead singers that Nightwish has had from Tarja, to Annette, and from her to Floor has her own music style and way of sing and interpretates each song but you can't deny each of them is good on her own. Of course my favorite is Tarja for her unique operatic and artistic style. But the 3 added something to the band. And Marko Hietala has this voice registration that is very most of his signature.
Dark Passion Play, what a album. You have to see the sequence of tracks. 1: Poet and the Pendulum -> grief, depression, Nr.2 Bye Bye Beautiful -> Farewell to Tarja, Nr.5: Master Passion Greed -> pure anger for Tarja`s husband, Nr.6 Eva -> another farewell to Tarja in my optinion.
We can only hope that the future will indeed be re-marko-ble.

Would love it if you do a reaction to one of Nightwish's and Tuomas' major influence band Stratovarius and any of their song (Black Diamond is amazing).
One of the BEST examples of Annette's amazing voice, especially during her Nightwish years, is on Song of Myself from this same album. Her voice gets so powerful in the chorus that it almost doesn't even sound like her singing. It was a rather unfortunate set of unavoidable circumstances that led Tuomas to make the now infamous decision to replace her with Floor Jansen after the equally famous/infamous 'Denver Debacle' during the imaginaerum tour.
I love her voice in the recorded tracks. But when I saw her live it seemed she didn't have the capacity.

Well, I guess that depends on your take on the whole Annette / Floor debate. After Annette was taken to the hospital, they had to make a difficult but critical decision. We can look back now and say it was a great decision, but at that time in the band, it might have seemed a little hasty and cruel to Annette.
Rest Calm is one of my favorite songs from Anette's era. It's pretty unique but so can be said from a lot of Nightwish songs :)
Annette Olzon... The second Queen of Nightwish , honest and more popy - sharp sounded in Nightwist ... Too bad that fans never liked her and appriciated her , big mistake of them ! Cruel ! Annette was very special and I really love her and deserved more than the hate of the fans at her era !

Yep, this was the music that brought me to the Nightwish World. I really like this music video, it’s so energetic and the Marcos’ vocal is fantastic here.
So this is the Song about Tarja leaving the Band. If you want to hear Tarja's Response, please listen to
"Tarja - I walk alone" and "Tarja - I walk alone (In Extremo Remix)" Both from her Album with the same name.
In my Opinion, the InEx-Version of her is way better then her "original" attempt and way more emotional.

My vote goes to “Sleeping Sun” from the Oceanborn album, either the original music video with Tarja, or Floor’s live version from Tampere (or a double reaction :) ). Love both. It’s a beautiful ballad written for the solar eclipse in 1999, it was also used as a theme song in a movie Britannic.
I’m surprised no one has mentioned that Anettes vocals has been pitched down on the video. On the album it’s a tad lighter.
Over the hills and far away is a greatly unreacted song, most of us that's the first song we heard. Tristania's year of the rat would be fun, I often wondered what a trained ear would say about it.

Anette Olzon is a very talented singer but unfortunately it wasn't a good choice for Nightwish. It's about her tone of voice; Tarja Turunen used to had a unique vocals for Nightwish 'style and Anette' s voice was a big contrast. That's why we found complaints against Anette and Nightwish. As I mentioned lines above, Anette has a very great voice but doesn't fit with Nightwish style

I see that you're doing music videos or album versions, so this gives me hope that you'll do Beauty of the beast. It's a criminally underated masterpiece of a song. People always talk about the big 3 which you've done but to me Beauty of the beast beats them all. The song is from the Century Child album, it's 10 minutes long and has around 150 tracks all mixed together. Tuomas said that he wanted to create a truly grandiose, epic sound and song and as always he's succeeded 😊. If(and I hope when you do it) do the album version, they've done the song live but it can't match the studio version because of the reason I mentioned above.
I've been watching you since you started doing reactions to Nightwish and you quickly became my favorite reactor and still are. The amount of details you catch in every song never fails to amaze me and I've learned a lot from you and I keep learning. Keep it going, keep having fun and never mind the haters and occasional negativity.
P.S. I really love your intro/outro music. After every video of yours it's stuck in my head for the whole day.
"Beauty *Of* The Beast" is my favorite Nightwish song. Not to be conflated with "Beauty *And* The Beast".
Nightwish made a song with each title, so this sometimes cause confusion.

Surprised there's been no mention of the alleged backstop to this song. This was the first song released after Tarja was unceremoniously fired from the band. Just listen to the lyrics sung by Marco in the chorus for the anger that she caused to some band members. It's been said Marco told Toumas its either "She goes or I go".
Floor refuses to perform this song because she is personal friends with Tarja.
I wonder what would have Tank more confused - that it isn't Empuu or that (s)he isn't playing the EV1 :D

For some reason, the official video from Nuclear Blast Records channel is one half-step down (from E minor to Eb minor) and slightly slower. If you listen to the official video in the Nightwish channel you can find the original. Nice reaction :)

Anyways, I've been catching up, mainly with your Epica, Nightwish and Unleash the Archers videos. Since I took this band into my life, sadly since ‘19, with floor fronting this group was my taste for NW. She’s the one ....... As I’ve listened to other eras of NW Annette has grown on me. But just select songs including this one. For some reason a song specific off the “Imaginarium Album “The Crow The Owl and The Dove” she absolutely slays it studio version and live!I And adding she sings great with Marco! I normally cringe when listening to anything live from her. If you want more of Anette check this song out
