  • Clothing Care For Men - How Often Should You Wash Your Clothes?
Today we're going to talk about clothing care for men and how often men should wash the different elements of their wardrobe. Washing your clothes is obviously a necessity, however, it's very common for men to overwash which can result in quicker color fading as well as deterioration of the fabric.
    Athletic Wear
I typically like to wash athletic wear after one use (in an athletic setting). If you're wearing sweats throughout the day casually you can probably get away with a couple wears before washing. Specifically, in the context of sweating while working out don't try and extend how many times you wear those clothes.
Have you ever had a guy walk up next to you at the gym and smell terrible? That's probably not the first time he's been sweating in what he's wearing. The odor lingers and definitely draws attention so please don't put yourself through that.
    Business Attire
This is where I'll cover suits and dress shirts suits you can get away wearing around 4 - 5 times before you take them to the dry cleaners. This does depend a bit on how much you layer. Typically you'll have a dress shirt and an undershirt all sitting under that suit jacket which should be enough to help absorb most of the moisture.
    Casual Attire
So most casual attire like henleys and t-shirts I wear one to two times MAYBE 3 times max depending on how long I wore that particular clothing item throughout the day. I also don't mind when most casual items of clothing look more worn if they're quality they won't fall apart they'll just look a bit more worn in and faded. I personally like that look I feel like it gives the clothing a bit more character if anything.
    Denim
Denim is a very big exception to that range denim you should try to wash as infrequently as possible. In this video, I focused on prewashed denim as opposed to raw denim. If you guys would like to see a full video on the differences between the two and how to care for each then leave a comment down below!

I misspoke with the suit section lol I started by saying that I take my suit to be dry cleaned which I do then I said laundered for some reason. There is a difference between the two which isn’t something I covered in this video. Just thought I’d clarify I take it to be dry cleaned lol

I’m glad you mentioned taking all pieces of a suit in for dry cleaning. I learned that early on in my professional career. 👍🏼

Shaun Leonard I actually bought a cheap suit for an interview out of college and I actually made the mistake of splitting up how often I took each item so I had to learn it early on as well haha thanks so much for stopping by my video Shaun!

I have a tip. Most don't think about when wearing formal attire anymore, smoking. Never smoke in or be around people smoking in your blazer or jacket. It's a good way to rune a a costume tailored work especially if it is made from natural material. The old Hugh Hefner smoking jacket before he made it a lifestyle look was around for a reason.

Personally i wash my clothes after wearing once, shower every day and hands every 20 min, the only thing i don't wash or dry clean are my coats in winter that is end of season for me. I have several coats so doesn't seem a big deal. I like that you even thought of this a s a topic Kelvin and yes i am probably wearing out a lot of clothes but i donate and then have a reason to get something new. Great vid as usual my friend.

I like that you bring up donating Joe! I think that's an excellent idea and point to make. To be honest it really does come down to personal preference I totally hear ya. I also like the more worn out look on some of the things I wear. With other things I can be a bit more meticulous though haha Thanks so much for washing my friend!!

The difficulty I have is keeping track of which articles of clothing I've worn how many times, which lends itself toward just washing after every use. Maybe I should set aside empty drawers for articles worn once and articles worn twice in order to keep track of it.
