I think you are also mistaken because it seems that he cheated but in reality that is not the case. The child belongs to his "brother" which I don't think is really a brother because his sister doesn't seem to know anything about it. So let's say that brother is an actual blood brother. That brother is no longer imaginable and the child who is seriously ill and needs to be protected from strong emotions can say to him because she is bullied at school. So it is a big misunderstanding that he has a mitresse and a child. That woman would like to be his mitresse, which makes it so difficult to understand.I also think it is better that they divorce because the mistakes he makes are overdue. I really wonder about the stupidity of the men (women?) in China as writers seem to think that male characters who believe their girlfriend or wife will not care if they pretend a child is their bio child, do not discuss it with their significant other, keep a green tea around and then expect the FL to be ok with everything.

Wouldn't have the (basic) care to call an ambulance to look after her (wouldn't be for her at least for the unborn child) after beeing slap by his sister... she is right it seems like he can protect anybody except her (and his child)

Nothing can explain such behavior except that he did not cherish or love his wife at all! He is using a "promise" to cover his ugly abusiveness, nothing to do with making a promise!
