I thought you would clarify the
main point. Most of the students
do not know that main verbs can not be changed to negative. It takes the help of an auxiliary verb
among the 24 as an helper to make negatives. However helping
Verbs when act as main verb are
Capable for both functions.
Have/ has / do / does are some among those auxillary verbs.
Semi modals are an exception to
above aspect. I don't reckon that
You gave us a lesson on semi
Modals like dare, need etc.Hope
You will shed more light on this
While teaching semi modals.

Regarding I have got a car.
I have a car.
The former is purely British English not universal in nature.
Here the main verb is proceeded
by a helping verb, thus negative
is have not got.
In the latter, we takes the help of
an auxiliary .. do ..thus I don't have a car. Thanks ..catch you later.

In fact I've uploaded many a video on how have, do and be function as both main and helping verbs. Some videos were on making sentences with have/ do as auxiliary verbs negative; the point that main verbs can't be negated just by adding 'not' was driven home there. 😅
In this video, I just focussed on the difference between haven't/ hasn't and don't have/ doesn't have. 😊

Noun phrase, adj phrase, adv phrase, infinitive phrase etc. come under advanced grammar. It may serve the interest of only a few people; and not the majority learners. Besides, once the learner has the basics ready, he/she shouldn't find it difficult to pursue those things.

In the case of first sentence noun came before the have so we write I don't have two pencils. Next one got is a vreb came before have so we write I have not got tvo pencils

May not be correct in all cases. For example : I have no money, I have no friends. . These uses too are correct

But, with people or things (physical possessions), we use ‘don’t have’.

Please keep in mind that 'don't/ doesn't have' can be used with physical possessions as well as concepts/ abstract ideas.
