- Our water on the homestead stopped! Upon investigation, the solar bore pump was the culprit, so Corey removed the old and, installed a new pump and hooked it up to the solar panels.

Great explanation, it was knot confusing at all. Good to see you have water again
Haha!! thankyou 👍
Ha ha that’s gold 😂😂😂
Another great video. It is really interesting seeing you troubleshoot and fixing the pump issue.
Thank you! Welcome to the brain of Corey 🤣
Great work Corey. Entertaining and informative video. Was so satisfying to see the water pouring out when it was all done. We've never seen anyone use solar panels as a work bench before, but hey, whatever works, right? We like your style!
Great video. If you have to bring your pump up again, it's a good idea to put a one-way valve on the pump outlet, this will help keep your line full when the pump is off and take pressure off the pump. If the motor on your old pump still works, the screw rotor and stater are easy enough to change. The screw rotor and stater don't like sand. Sand will wear the screw rotor down and the pump will lose efficiency. I had this happen last year. The pump would turn on and pump, but it wasn't putting any water in the tank. Once pulled apart, I found the screw rotor half worn due to sand. I replaced screw rotor and stator and pump was good as new. Keep up the good work on educating people :) Really enjoying your content!
Cheers mate!
Great vids the solar on the roof has given me ideas for my own solar.
Great to hear!
Oh bugger, sucks when you have to replace fairly expensive items with no warning.
Great video and explained so easy to follow, thank you ❤️ will need to look into a pump when we can set up our bore in future
I had to swap my bore pump on Monday.
ah bugger mate, how did your replacement go?
Great video, thank you.
You are welcome!
Great video, simplified and yo the point ! Cheers 🍻
Cheers for that 👍👍
Bring back the windmill???
THere was a lot of corrosion in your pump for only 3 years in the ground. I would be very suspicious about the claim that it is all high grade stainless. The corrosion certainly shortened the life. But more importantly, I suspect fluctuations in voltage and high voltage delivered to you motor shortened it's life. My suggestion would be to take your solar power one step further. Use both panels so you never short of raw power. Deliver the raw power to a charge controller then to a bank of two batteries wired in series (24 volts). This will modulate your power to a constant 24 volts. SO you can deliver known voltage to your pump motor. Also, make sure your wire gage is big enough or better for 24 volts times the length of the run. Nominal investment for longer service life of a $350 pump. 😊
Interesting point about the fluctuations shortening the motor life... maybe that's what happened!
@@ROCKPILEOffgridHomestead Thank you! A charge controller and a set of batteries are a much smaller investment than a new pump. Another thought is - because the manufacturer supplies a replacement impeller, I'm wondering if the impeller is a consumable that must be replaced on a regular cycle? I suppose it's dependent on the amount of mineral in your raw water. If you got 3 years out of the original pump - maybe a new impeller change every two years would greatly extend the life? Might have to read the instructions 🤣 I'm exactly the same - who needs to read all those words...
Love your hat, how's your foot going?
Thank you .
It’s the best hat .
Foot is still there , it has good days and not so good days
😊😊
well explained video . I have binged watched all your videos. Could you please tell me where you buy your solar pumps from ?
Cheers mate, we hit ours from a place called Perth Machinery… we’ve popped a link in the description too 👍
Hi Corey. Can I please request the information on this pump. Thanking you kindly
Hey mate, we get ours from a place called Perth Machinery… we’ve popped a link in the description 👍👍
Hey Bro!!! who did your bore hole and what was the process in getting that done.
It was here when we bought the property luckily because we didn't realise how much we would rely on it.
Great episode and very informative! Q Where in Australia can these pumps be purchased?
@@erikhouweling1552 thanks mate, I’m in qld so that works out well 👌
Thanks Eric!
We get ours from a place called Perth Machinery. I've popped a link in the description, cheers! 👍
@@ROCKPILEOffgridHomestead Thanks heaps mate!
The solar pump has arrived!! Now for the installation. Thanks again for the insight guys
Noice work mate🤙
Does the old pump tell you what grade stainless steel it is? 304 or 316, those impellers we called em pigs dicks “old water board days, prolly done well to last that long,
316 mate and no pigs were harmed installing the new pump
Hi mate, what’s the specs on the panels. Are you running both panels in series?
Hi mate .
The panels are 200watt
And 45.5v voc
I use one panel in summer and connect them in parallel in winter just to bring the amps up a bit due to the clouds
1 Do you have a pressure pump at the house? I have mains power and solar hw. I also have a dam but it leaks and has about 500mm now.
2 My 53,000L rainwater tanks are all full but I'd like to reticulate a garden. I have a spring 14m uphill and 700m away but I have to get 2m over a ridge. I'm thinking siphoning 4m downhill to a large tank and 10m water pressure for the gardens. I need a small pump just enough to fill a siphon. Can you suggest a supplier? I've used Tankaster at Midland before.
PS: I have about 200 x 28 parrots so any fruit trees I build will have to be in a covered chookyard.
1. Yes we have a pressure pump at the house. The bore pump is only to get water up to a tank near the house 👍 our dam is pretty useless too
You could try something like a solar fountain pump from Bunnings. Because it sounds like you just need a pump to start the siphon? If you’re only talking a couple meters head even something like a GOOD quality bilge pump might do the job.
Where did you get the pump from?
A place called Perth Machinery. I've popped a link in the description, cheers! 👍
