Thank you so much for the video. I've had my hot foil machine for 2 years It's still in the box. I thought there would be a better choice in dies. I own the betterpress and I absolutely love it, when I heard I could use my better press dies, in the hot foil machine, that's why I'm here and you have a new subscriber. I have a spellbinder platinum used once. I couldn't use it on the 3D embossing. You can, it's tough. Now I'm using everything I've purchased. Thankyou so much.
For your Platinum machine buy the new universal plates. You can use them now with the 3D embossing folders. You won't need a new machine, just the universal plate system.

I am so glad I found your channel!! I am getting back to crafting/cardmaking. I bought a Better Press and Glimmer Foil Machine and so far I LOVE THEM!! I also have the smaller minc but think I am going to get "Big Mama" soon. I also ordered a laser printer so I can expand my possibilities. Thanks again for all the education and information!!

So I started playing with my Lifestyle Crafts Letterpress and re-discovered the ink guides, which is an accessory to provide even coverage and prevent ink smears on the lid when applying ink with a brayer. Perhaps Spellbinders will create and offer something similar? I recommend using a brayer to apply ink because you'll achieve even ink coverage. IMO this is key because you get one pass with the BetterPress. Applying ink as you would to a stamp isn't always even but you get a second chance to re-apply ink with a stamp positioner and dye ink eventually sinks in and evens out. I'm thinking typical letterpress ink, which is oil-based or rubber-based, sits on top and doesn't sink in and even out like a dye ink.
Hi, I confirm that I use my Gopress as a letter press since the beginning with my hot foil plates. Gopress was advertising it as a hot foil AND lettre press. If you look into old videos you will see a couple showing this usage with a "cold" machine obviously. So I guess that you can use your hot foil plates, Spellbinder and other made, as letter press plates. 😉 Sorry for Spellbinder but I will not buy this Betterpress and how about a letterpress comparison with the Gopress ? Not for me but maybe for other users, if they struggle with their Gopress with foiling that may get them use the machine.
Same on the Go Press & Foil. I "no ink" letterpressed Gmund 111 lb. cotton card stock and Gmund 222 lb. double thick cotton card stock with the Waffle Flower hot foiling plate Vintage Vine. My results were gorgeous.

Any die cutting machine that can handle a steel rule die should be able to handle the BetterPress. The chase is designed to be about the same thickness as a steel rule die, same as a glimmer platform or the die cutting platform that comes with Spellbinders and Sizzix machines.

Another machine, hummm, should I or shouldn’t I, looks fantastic, something different, still on the fence about this one because of a limited budget.
Really annoying that the Glimmer plates won't work in the BP... Will wait until the major crafters have put it through its paces and more info is out there. I do not need another system to clog up my craft room. JM just had a new video doing letterpress with embossing folders!
Very well said, totally agree. Gonna ck out JM video. Too many pricy things coming out lately, I must say, that I do want the TH new trimmer. Looks solid to me.
@@Taitcreates639 Actually, I bought it a few weeks ago and really like it! Never had a rotary trimmer....cuts beautifully! And now I saw it is $20 less than I paid for it...sigh.

Why can't you press with foiling dies on the soft paper? Seems like it would work.
The Foiling plates are too thick. Could ruin your machines.

Well, I have touched mine but not really made a bunch of cards...mostly testing! Why do we do this??? And then there's the Mini Minc...have touched it too...but only minimally.
Looks like all the dies are sold out , well in the Uk shop. Knew I should have bought others when I got the plate 😟
Been wanting a foil machine, but now this comes out and I want it too. I saw the Couture Creations HOT FOIL AND LETTERPRESS MACHINE and it looks like does both in one. Is that right? Which do you recommend if I can only have one?
The Couture Creations is a great machine and versatile. Just takes practice to figure out the shims. It works with most die cutting machines and hot foil dies
what another great video - question - i get a lot of over foiling - is that too much pressure causing it -or not smooth enough paper -TYIA

Going to resurrect my Lifestyle Crafts Letterpress and plates. I even saw someone hot foil with those plates, which are plastic!
Don't hot foil with your Lifestyle Crafts Letterpress plates because they warp. I tried it with my Go Press and Foil.
