I found that the free/$2 tool supplied in the rebuild kit for delta kitchen taps, with very minimal to no spread adjustment, removes those friction tabs, even stuck and degraded time sinks.

I just started my own adventures as a hobby mechanic on my '97 VW Cabrio. At some point, I want to upgrade it to a VR6; those look super neat! I don't have many tools yet, but I do have a basic small socket set w/ 3/8" drive, a small wrench set, and a 1/2" torque wrench. I have an assortment of other junk too, but that's it for my mechanic's gear. This would go a long way to rounding out my tool set... =D

My favorite Craftsman tool stories: My first tool was given to me by my dad before he passed away in 1995. It is a Craftsman hammer, which I still have. He was also the first car guy I ever met. Last, the first car I rebuild was with him using all Craftsman tools, it was a '72 Datsun 510 when I was 14 years old in 1989.

Nice, i also turn wrenches and have 2 Craftsman tool boxes with lots of Craftsman tools, been turning wrenches since I learned from my father at least 42 years ago. Now at 58 I still enjoy working on my cars/truck and help out family and friends at times.

Started using craftsman when I was 12 helping at my uncles garage, That Foreign Car. Worked for the garage on everything with a 500pc tool kit and bunch of specialty tools for Audi/vw, Porsche, Mercedes and BMW. Still got that tool kit today with all the tools stamped forged in the USA. They are going strong, work like a dog every day and have not let me down once. Most are all original and have not even had a rebuild on the ratchets. Best tools in the land!

Started as a shop mechanic about 5 years ago, but have been wrenching for about 10ish years. My grandfather gave me his old craftsman toolbox when I first got into wrenching. All these years later I still have his little craftsman box and a good collection of his tools along with the ones I have bought during my career. Still end up coming back to Pa’s old tools regularly. Great way to remember him.

I still have the 10mm socket I repeat I STILL HAVE THE 10mm SOCKET !! 6 point not to worn grabs like a champ and still in use !? We all know 10 Mils don’t last 15 min 😂 without running away let alone 15 YEARS!! But that’s Craftsman for not just quality but Loyalty!! ❤️😂💪🏽

Always had a craftsman tool set. Dad has his, Grandpa has his, and I've had my first set for years now. Most recent project was a full engine and trans swap on a 1.8T beetle. It runs a lot better now that it doesn't have a hole in it! #2 rod bottom end came apart and punched a 4in hole in the front of the block. Your videos helped a lot with that project, Cheers!

My dad has always had craftsman tools to work on his cars and around the house. My favorite craftsman tool was a through ratchet set because it enabled me to put a hex bit through the ratchet to do front shocks on my MK4 Jetta without the luxury of cordless or air tools. I didn't even have a cordless or air tool until I turned 22, a craftsman 1/2 air impact and an ingersoll rand 1/2 air impact.

My parents gave me a Craftsman tool set for a Christmas present in 1971. I was a 16 year old sophomore in high school then and I am 63 years old now. Although I've lost a few items through the years (where is that 10mm socket?), I still use them regularly.

My very first tool box was a small Craftsman. Bought it in highschool at a garage sale I went to work on garbage trucks as soon as i graduated. That was almost 3 years ago I've since upgraded but that box got me my start. I still use it at home all the time its an old box but it has held up amazingly.

I had a Craftsman breaker bar that broke while I was trying to remove an axle nut. Took it back and they replaced it for free even though it was 20+ years old. Broke the replacement the same day and they replaced that one as well no questions asked. One of the first brands of tools to offer that as far as I know.

I first started working on cars the day I bought my first car at 16. It was a 95 Ford Taurus SHO, and I needed to carry a set of tools with me in the trunk wherever I went because it broke down all.the.time. My go-to was a set of craftsman sockets with a ratchet inside of a zippered case - in which I shoved a set of pliers, some allen keys, spark plug gapper and socket, and just about anything else I could fit in and still zip it up. It quickly became my everything for that car, and it saved my butt more than I care to remember. I happily passed it down to my younger brother a year ago when he bought his first car, a Fahrenheit GTI (#47!).

The four most amazing upgrades i installed on my 2014 VW GLI were
    1) Stage 1 Unitronic ECU/TCU Tune - 50hp/93 tq upgrade
    2) 034 Motorsport Beefier Rear Sway Bar
    3) 034 Motorsport Aluminum Dogbone Mount Insert
    4) Upgraded Bilstein B4 shocks over stock
These change the car into something SO MUCH BETTER. Upgrading my VW is an exciting journey.

My dad always swore by Craftsman tools when he became a mechanic. He had a small trailer full of them. Crescent wrenches, all the deep and shallow sockets of all sizes (standard, metric, 12 point and 6 point), and much more. He even had more than 1 or 2 of many of the same sockets. It was quite the collection, and I remember seeing many of them since he made me organize his tools many times when I was about 10 to 11 back in 2005. I don't know when it happened, but his trailer was broken into, and the tools disappeared. Since then, he's still been buying exclusively Craftsman from Sears, and urges me to buy Craftsman tools whenever I can. It wasn't what it used to be, but he still only has Craftsman tools, that I've been using since I've turned 17. I use them all the time, and they're very reliable tools, so you can't go wrong with Craftsman tools, people.

I started my Craftsman collection at Sears about 3y ago around Christmas time. I got some shop your way points and spent them. I kept getting points for some reason. I told my brother to sign up as well, but he didnt get points like I did. After a while, I bought a fridge and got equal value in points back. Im still getting paid the installments to date. Its crazy to see that I've got over $1500 in tools for a fraction of the price 👍

I got my first tools one year for X-mas and over the years I have worked on all 15 cars I have owned, 4 motorcycles, and taken some of my tools to work with me because they perform just as good or sometimes better than all my coworkers Snap-on or MAC tools. Whenever I need something special or over-sized I can usually bet on Craftsman having it, and they also keep coming up with useful affordable specialty tools such as hose clamp removal pliers.
Also an upgraded sway bar is on the list for my MK7 GTI, cant wait!

Hi Charles! my craftsmen story involves a variety of tools, mostly some hand-me-downs from my dad that included a few open ended wrenchs, wire cutters, and other random goodies. they all still work great today and I still own them all. One of my favorites is my Lithium ion rechargeable headlamp! i work in insulations so a headlamp is very important to some areas i work in, as well as under the hood of my GLI! Love your videos and appreciate what you do greatly.

Thanks for the sway bar install video. I've been planning to do this job on my TT which should be pretty much the same. I've got most parts ready and I got myself a nice Craftsman torque wrench from the local Sears to raise my game. They're practically giving them away these days.

Great video. There is also another application for these, although not for your specific vehicle. In drag racing, we use anti-roll bars which are just insanely strong sway bars on steriods with heavy duty end links, to keep both rear tires planted when launching, and you can adjust the end links to put more bite into one tire than the other as needed.

I personally dont have the money to buy a nice set of craftsmen tools. So I've decided to wait until I have the space for a nice larger set instead of a bunch of small ones but back when i was younger my mother always had craftsmen tools in our house hold and from a young age I've always used the tools she had to fix small things like vaccumes and our washer. Among various little things I've built with the most reliable tools ever I never had screws break my screwdrivers. One day I hope I will have a nice set of craftsmen sockets to work on my car more safely

I started collecting social security a handful of years ago - I started collecting craftsman tools probably before I was 10yrs old working on my bicycles and mini bikes - dad would get mad when I used his tools and he somehow lost them. So mom loved garage and yard sales and if she saw tools and the price seemed right - I suddenly had them in my own collection. Sears wasn't far so anytime I needed a tool I didn't have you know where I was. I've grown up with motorcycles, sports cars, muscle cars, boats & regular cars too. Once my first MG had a busted transmission that the dealer fixed the first time to the tune of way too much money. The next time it broke my dad came home from work and omg did he freak out when he saw all the gears lined up neatly on the garage floor with me sitting next to them. How much is this gonna cost me... don't worry dad, I bought this book.

Definitely a worthwhile upgrade! I upgraded mine on my Ford Focus ST with one from a company called Hardrace. It’s 62% stiffer than OE, and also upgraded the end links from same company too. That combined with all new wishbones and upgraded bushes from the same company, and upgraded front sway bar bushes makes a Huge difference! Heading to Germany next week to test it all at the Nurburgring 😎

The first toolbox I ever had was a Craftsman and it still gets used in my garage today. It was an 80th anniversary special edition with no ball bearings and no key for the locks. That box was given to me by my first boss when I was in high school helping around a local body shop. It was loaded with stray sockets and hardware from his garage when I started putting my first cheap tool sets inside. That box helped me get started and gave me a space to fill. It was the start of a collection for me and more importantly, a career. Since then that box has been filled with older Craftsman USA hand-me-downs and all kinds of vintage tools and ratchets.
I've always liked the Craftsman name... Since I was a toddler walking through sears with my dad... hell, I even bought a new Craftsman mower a couple weeks ago. I've been meaning to get a mobile set of the new Craftsman tools to test out and keep in one of the vehicles but I just haven't gotten around to it yet and I never seem to have extra money anymore.

The one time I remember using Craftsman tools was when my old boss told me to stop using my trashy old adjustable wrench to open a can of tuna so I could pour the juice into my manager's backpack when he wasn't looking. My boss handed me a Craftsman socket set, which was able to open the can with barely any effort at all, just had to set it up on top of the 4K TV we have (so we can listen to the radio in high definition) and peg each socket piece at it until one finally busted it open like my front door when my neighbors called the FBI on me as a prank. 10/10, would use again if I had the chance.

Way easier on a mk4 gti, but craftsman is where is at when it comes to quick reliable tools!

Awesome video as always Charles! Been using Craftsman for years myself and choose it over most anything else before opting for any other brand

Since the tools are coming from CM I had to do it that way. :(

Over 30 years ago my late father purchased a Craftsman roll away and a bunch of tools. Through the years he added more and more tools. I used these tools to mod my cars and in 2007 my father passed away with prostate cancer. After I sold his house I moved his roll away and tools to my house which I have been using ever since. Good memories. Thanks Dad.

When I first started working on cars I had a 1999 Toyota Camry and I broke my harmonic balancer driving home and my car headlights shut off and the car was running on the battery. I drove home With no lights or ac or radio. That’s when I was working at sears I bought a lil craftsman tool kit that helped me fix my broken harmonic balancer and I used that car the entire summer with no following problems reoccurring.

I'm wondering if that multi-link suspension would fit in the back of a Jetta. Hmm...

I only have a few Craftsman tools but quality over quantity! Would love to have more quality tools in my humble garage (love the engraving).

Great video, nice upgrade. My favorite craftsman USA wrenches are my double box end wrenches.

Pretty good tools. Like a lot of people in the comments, my Craftsman wrenches were handed down.

My Craftsman story: I don't have enough 😃 by that I mean I can't tell you what I have in the garage that is Craftsman. Over the years, I've needed to get the job done and it's usually with whatever tool I've had available to me. I haven't always had the money to buy Craftsman. You can tell when you have a tool in your hand that doesn't work as well as a Craftsman.
Thank you for your videos, I just finished putting on a set of coilovers on my MK6 GLI. I rewatched your R32 suspension video a number of times to try and get those front struts out. Your how to properly jack up a car video also saved my pinch weilds. It was a big help and I'm thankful you have content I can go back to for reference.

My grandpa got me started with craftsman tools and thats what i continue to use to this day. He told me to never waste my money on something like "Strap-On" tools. You should have seen when i graduated from UTI and he saw the little gift i recieved from the school, $1000 in Snap-On tools, which was more like $200 in Craftsman brand tools

My first tool wasn't craftsman. They were rusty crapy sh!t which I found in my garage lefted from my grandpapa. When I became a real car guy and started working on my vw passat I afford to buy myself a quality craftsman tools.

I got my first tool set from Sears, when I was 14 years old. It was a Craftsman 117 piece mechanic's set that I have to this day. It got me started working on small engines and on my first car, a 1980 VW Rabbit. That tool set helped me to swap the engine and automatic transmission in the Rabbit with an engine and 5 speed transmission from a wrecked 1982 Rabbit.

Wow!, so many comments in just 2 hours. Anything that improves handling is a win, check out under carriage chassis braces like the ones by Ultra Racing, they stiffen up the entire car.
Edit: have assorted Craftsman tools which I used professionally and never had to use the lifetime warranty.

I do a lot of work around my house with Craftsman tools. Hammers, screwdrivers, ratchets, wrenches, saws, really anything - a lot of my tools I need as a homeowner and DIY repair person are Craftsman. Passed down from family, bought new, they all work great! Thank you for the chance to win.

Years ago I added sway bars to my 81 Olds Cutlass "Grand National" (lowered Black Cutlass with a BBC 454). Fronts went from 5/8" to 1-1/4"; rears from 1/2" to 3/4". The difference in handing was nothing short of INCREDIBLE! I could hardly believe it was the same car! Absolutely flat around corners as opposed to the rolling wallowing boulevard cruiser it was before. Easily one of the cheapest yet profound upgrades you can do to your vehicle. Great video as always Charles! Cheers!
BTW - bought my Sears Craftsmans tool kit (175 piece with clamshell carry) when I was 16. Still use them almost daily 35 years later. The amount of abuse they've gone is staggering, yet they're still clicking! I love my Craftsmen tools. Shame about Sears shutting down, but al least the Craftsmens brand soldiers on!

My dad had a Craftsman Toolbox, w/ hammer, circular saw and other Craftsman tools that I inherited...still use it to this day...reminds me of good times w/ my dad when I was a kid! That stuff is still 'ticking'...it just won't wear out!
Nice job on your video! You're the guy I come to for diagnostic issues! I have always been a VW fan - started w/ a '91 Jetta, then a '97 Jetta VR6, '69 Bus / Camper special, just bought a '13 GTI for the fam...fun vehicles!

I don't really have a Craftsman story... but I would use it to rebuild my MK3 that's been sitting for the last 2 years, would be nice to have some tools (especially open ended) to work on it to get it done before H2o
