I actually HAD to land at 6:50 Full power, not climbing. Right turn meant losing altitude with a turn and going more into the lee, although there was a valley. Left turn had people and rising terrain. Go Atom 80 power 😅. Landing was still soft though
@MarkHuneycutt that's great 👍 is it very much to get into it like getting one or renting one? What else it take to start it? Where I live I'd have to wait to try it in May yea it's that cold 🥶 here
@Theshaneshowcruiseforfun you go to a flight school that has gear for you to use during training. Then during or after, you can buy gear once you understand it
Came for the flood content, stayed for all the other ba content. 💪🏼 I'd love to do what you do but couldn't even imagine where to start. Maybe you could make a video kinda going over the process/steps if someone wanted to get into para-motoring and what your process was like. Thanks!
Good times. Scott is cool ! He’s a fighter, eating that parking lot launch hahaha. Great people helping you out. Nice job on your last one. Hope all is going well dude. Cheers from the rocks up here in Canada.
5:20 is a beautiful shot mate. God, that is a great road we wouldn't have anything close to the magnitude of that in Australia. The way it follows that gentle ridge down for eternity is sick, I wonder if that's a popular longboarding spot.
Wow!! Absolutely beautiful and amazing something that I would never have been able to experience in my life! Thank you Mark for taking us along. I hope you and the family are doing well. Wishing you all a very merry, merry Christmas. Sending big hugs from Welches , Oregon.
Great video Mark. Looks like so much fun to go out and do that. You cant learn stupid stuff if you dont try stupid stuff. Lol. Thats my motto. Cant wait for your next video.
cool content.👍 i was wondering if you were going to continue the channel and what direction it might take (or not) after the excellent hurricane coverage you did.
With as many times as I have hiked that mountain and that trail I can say I have never had someone fly in on me haha. Can only imagine hiking up and having a guy with a fan strapped to his back land next to me, this looks like a freakin blast and terrifying all in one.
You're just asking for a challenge with that Atom 80 and I love it :D And Scotts amazing take off with inches to spare.. Keep up these paramotor shenanigans.
What amazing adventures you plan for yourself. There's a big difference between an 80cc and a 180cc that could get you out of that spot, is there much of a weight difference between the two motors, just curious, as new experiences can produce wisdom, but hindsight allows for short cuts. Enjoyable video as always, and I hope your neighbors are faring well with winter arriving soon.
I’m a former cargo pilot and still have my Ifr and private pilot papers. Call me a chicken or whatever but when you went up to 180 on a parachute was freaking crazy. Good on you.
Love it, having hiked much of that area up there I wish I could think of other prospective areas that would be good to fly in and out of. Maybe Cades cove if they mow the fields/ pastures. There's also a Big Field beside the end of the Blue ridge parkway near Cherokee. Could use the village reenactment there for content
Nice. I've got another perfect spot but I don't say locations in case a video goes viral. A viral video of Max Patch from some youtuber made it a really popular camping spot to the point that it got trashed
Great stuff Mark! Found you via the post storm footage and you got a sub from that, but I’m in NC too and it’s awesome seeing the flights you’ve been doing up here - have a load still to watch. Do you have to get the backcountry camping thing for pisgah or BRP or NPS or do you just “wing it” (so to speak 😂)
Mark I've been watching you for years now. I flew Eipper Ultalights back in the early 80's. I had to make myself quite because I was doing hammerheads and other crazy things with it. I just see complacency man. Why are you flying over those trees like that? No landing. It's your life man. You and Tucker are pushing it in my opinion. That's all. Love your channel.
@ Tabbing, or Tactical Advance to Battle, is a physically demanding discipline often practised by military personnel. It involves moving quickly over difficult terrain, with a heavy rucksack and other essential equipment
I'm not sure if you've covered this in your other videos I stumbled across your channel during the hurricane relief. But what does a setup like you ran in this video run ballpark. Looking to get into this in the coming spring and just getting a rough idea camping from a wing sounds amazing😅
@@MarkHuneycuttoh okay, that's for some reason better in my mind. I didn't get the same health affects from the wildfires we've been having lately in comparison to the pollution in Southeast Asia while visiting. Thank you for sharing your camping trip with us, it's fun to watch during these colder months
I thought my wife and I saw you and someone else flying over Little River the other day. We live at the top of a mountain overlooking the valley. Wish you would tell us where you are when you are flying. The big rock top mountain looked like Caesars head. Thanks for sharing the excitement. Enjoy our beautiful mountains. 🇺🇸👍
@@yaad2226 about 4 hours on that particular tank in the video or almost 8 hours with a 5 gallon tank and an Atom 80 motor. Takes about a week or two to learn.

@MarkHuneycutt oh wow looks easy but not easy at all huh how long is it to learn 🤔
@Theshaneshowcruiseforfun 7-14 days. It's frustrating at 1st but it's not hard

Density altitude is no joke. It almost bit me twice in a slow single engine low wing aircraft that is based at sea level. Looks like you had fun.
I did!
Cool! 😎 That looks like a really fun camping 🏕 trip. Love the views! ❤ Thanks for sharing!
Always love your videos!
Nice job making best choices

Time to get rid of that weedeater engine and get a more powerful one. Very nice scenery!
A lot of hard sledding but it looked like fun.
Love your videos !

Every post is great. Nice intro on this one.
Also, cool quicklinks.
Love this. Wanna do more paramotor camping next year!
Awesome, as always!!! Coming from Nashville area.
Than you for showing your struggles! As a newer pilot sometimes it feels like only I’m the only one having launch struggles.
absolutely

Quite interesting watching you land in a spot I've stood and taken photos. Your perspective was better lol
It's an interesting perspective, but it's nice to be on the ground backpacking, too

Sadly, paragliding, I've been in quite a few trees, and it has never been bad 😆. I'm more concerned about flying over water.
Nice job Mark! Little hairy but you guys did it! 👍👍👍👍
Did you land back at Hendersonville AP?
Thanks for the video
Those failed launches are nightmares with all that gear
yes hah
Great video!
Thanks!
Nice adventure. Did I hear right, 20m wing 😮. I fly a Top80 but with a 26m wing and I'm 72kg 😊
20m highest efficiency Vxc
Yes. The higher aspect wings can typically be lower square meters and handle more weight
Nice Interesting vid dude, good effort !
Impressed by You TABBING it with your gear, makes for interesting content.
Tabbing?
@ Tabbing, or Tactical Advance to Battle, is a physically demanding discipline often practised by military personnel. It involves moving quickly over difficult terrain, with a heavy rucksack and other essential equipment
YES ❤️🔥
@markhoneycutt - Cool and fun! Are you giving lessons at 0A7 anymore? I would be interested in March or April.
That was really nice of those sherpas.
it was. native sherpas
Would I be correct to assume you're flying over Panthertown Valley, North Carolina at 4:50? If it is, I love that spot.
I don't think so
Beautiful views. Perfect way to waste time
Pisgah, my backyard. Good stuff!

You picked up a few more subscribers I bet!
Was this trip before hurricane?
yes
Oh... the haze is pollution?! I thought it was from wildfire 😢
yea wildfire. Funny, because the last time I did this in 2016, there were IFR conditions due to smoke

Cool video - you had the wind, would a larger wing work better? I know, harder to launch but you had a 20m probably weighted at the top of it's range.
It would have helped, yes. I'm well within the weight range on the 20m, though. Just a weak motor
Sick footage Mark. I’ll have to stick to #fpv that 💩 scares me!!!
I'd like to do that sometime hows NC doing I know there still picking up there lives hope it's better than earlier
better but still need help
Are black bears a problem when tent camping in that area?
Are you done doing your updates on the damage.
Is everything fixed?
I don't know. Is everything fixed?
How long and far can you fly, and how much fuel do you carry. Great video!!
Looks like Roan.....cant tell for sure.
Mark I really like your channel! Question for you, why do you think there's more haze nowadays in the mountains?
More wildfires I hear
how long can you fly with one of these before fuel becomes a concern? Really cool perspective!
about 4 hours on the particular one I'm on
@ ah nice! looks really fun, atleast when you have room to take off 🤣
Looks like a fun trip with a little extra hiking. Was this filmed before the Hurricane Helene hit? I didn’t see any tree damage or landslides.
Yes, before, in August
Linville Gorge near Nebo?
That HURT to watch you drag that beautiful wing through that
Do you ever land in sticker burrs?
sometimes. Not any here
What no inflight beverage service??
Did you video this back in the summer before Helene?
Yes
Where in the country is this?

Are you the one that showed were it flooded! After the hurricane?
Yes, he is.@@robinbelles2365
@robinbelles2365 yes that's him.
Is it possible to fly hands free in order to hold a camera for aerial photography or a rifle for hog hunting?
Yes
What state is this?
Scott's a Maniac... 😳
He's a wild one
I am confused ... You went paracamping next to a parking lot. What's the point? I would want to go where cars can not.
you should!
@@MarkHuneycutt Actually that has been the whole plan all along.
why cant u fit parasute just incase something happen i mean now u can have parasute that deploy if incase u are falling or soemthing tupang
I thought that was a parachute!
I also have a reserve parachute
@@MarkHuneycutt cool how long can ya fly and how long on one tank? and how long does it take to learn flying paramotor?
@@yaad2226 about 4 hours on that particular tank in the video or almost 8 hours with a 5 gallon tank and an Atom 80 motor. Takes about a week or two to learn.
@@MarkHuneycutt thanks a lot lot and how much u bought this paramotor for ?
I have always wanted to do this, but being 220 pounds and yall worrying about an extra 30 pounds has me second guessing😳😳😳
Im sure you can do it with the larger engine 🎉 go for it!!
You would just want a stronger motor and a bigger wing. 220 is nothing for paramotoring.
Just need more motor and more gas. I'm pretty heavy myself
