@TheStig000 Backlight on a Suunto is great. You hold the Mode button in for 2 seconds and the backlight remains on even when cycling through modes and settings.
@TheStig000 I guess they have little to work with in order to keep shock and water resistance? Suunto negative displays are definitely better in 2 aspect, viewing angle and digit size.
@DougFNJ That may explain something, because I've heard Suunto owners complain about the water resistance. They said to never go swimming with them because they can't handle being submersed in water. Rain and sweat is about as much as they handle from what I've read.
@DougFNJ Cutlerylover is a guy on youtube that does reviews on a whole bunch of stuff. He started out doing knives but branched into Zippos, hot sauce, guns, gear, whiskey, flash lights, and other EDC stuff. He basically talks about all of his hobbies.
Sleek and refined looking watch, basic ABC functionality but does the job it seems. Is it true that the Suunto models surpass the Casio protrek line when it comes to accuracy of functions like compass & baro/alti readings? Personally i find it hard to choose between these. For instance: Suunto Core vs Casio Protrek paw2000.
Does this watch have a depth gauge as well? I would like to get into free diving (already scuba dive) and need a watch that can show depth, and if possible, record it as well?
Loved the watch, but I found 2 cons with it to make me sell it. #1, no countdown timer. I thought I could use one of the 3 alarms to make up for it. #2, alarm volume is practically non existent, cannot hear even if you take watch off & put t on a table or by your ear even if you are the only one present.
I`ve had this timepiece sice 2003 (ST vercion).... love it some ways, but hate to buy a new recin strap for half the price of a new watch every year.... The Compass function black out in elektro magnetick Fields (Hydro power plants etc. (my woork place) and never woorks stable since.. Casio MT-G is my new timepice!!!
I've used an observer since 2006, used it throughout the Middle East and in the Arctic North. Best watch I've ver had.

Good commentary. Thank you for posting.
This one’s a classic review. That was an awesome watch that I still regret selling. Thanks for watching and taking time to comment.

@1977england I would think cabin pressure would affect accuracy.
Can you change the time to 24 hour format, and the units to the metric system?
Great review as always!
@jcnp24 Yes to both in the settings.
Never understood why Gshocks have such tiny digits on the screen. Suunto has the right idea.

Hey i'm joining the military, any watch recommendations?
(black watch would be best, and i'd like a Suunto or a G-Shock)
How many watches do you own?
Is there a back light button or does it just come on automatically somehow?
BTW. When did they release the Black Version?

I agree with the countdown timer, didn't understand that omission
@oclvcarbon123 Thank you very much :)
@Flopyboy Who? Thank you I hope ;)
your reviews are a pleasure to watch :)
Sorry for the long delay in response....no depth gauge.
Do you still have the extra all black elastomer strap? I have been looking for one everywhere with little luck and I am happy to purchase from you.
Good finnish watch!

Did I miss how much it was ? I was busy defending amerikans rights and only listened . I usually listen mo better .
Not much value in terms of showing how to set the watch
Sometimes people prefer seeing the video vs reading the manual.
