No one grabs like that thou and most guys don’t grab other guys they punch them or head butt, elbow, knee, go straight for a take out, anything but a grab and never with the thumb facing down.

THERES BEEN A HUGE DIFFERENCE IN TECHNIQUES FROM YOUNG SOL CHOI AND JI HAN JAE I VE STUDIED HAPKIDO Im A 5th Degree in Korean HAPKIDO FROM DR.JUNG HWAN PARK and 4th DAITO RYU AIKIJUJITSU 3 thru 5 TECHNIQUE VERY SLOPPY IN FACT ONE MASTER I STUDIED WITH THE LATE GREAT MASTER MICHAEL WOLLMEINHAUSER WAS THE ONLY AMERICAN TO STUDY PERSONALLY WITH THE FOUNDER YOUNG SOL CHOI AND WE HAD TO BE VERY VERY PRECISE IN APPLICATION THE INSTRUCTORS ARE MUCH BETTER WITH DEMONSTRATION

That is a unconventional and unrealistic grab...aikido .. jujutsu.. judo and goju Ryu and shotokan karate I have studied and I have never seen anyone grab anyone like that.

In many martial arts there are applicable techniques & some are just to train the mind for flow of movement...
this is one of the latter...
      Much like Kata’s,
some people discard them as useless & some use them just to sharpen their minds/muscle memory...

Very strange way to grab anybody, sorry not practical at...technics are good the awkward grab is bad...I don't know any1 who would grab an opponent like that... thanks 👍

It's not an 'end state' technique. No one would grab like that and leave their arm extended where it lacks power. It simply just isn't a dominant position. Maybe in a pushing scenario you might for an instant and up like this, but it would all be about off balancing and reacting, not someone standing there. If you tried to grab the hand they'd release the grip and reposition.
The technique relies on someone pausing in a poor position or you hitting the technique with perfect timing, or both both are unlikely.

Hapkido is just a rip-off of Japanese "Aikido"...
