Last week, as a present Kol Haneshama Jerusalem synagogue member and Israeli citizen of almost three years, I had the esteemed blessing of attending a Jerusalem Cinematheque film screening of Above and Beyond; I loved watching the film so much, and it inspired me beyond words; Film will always be a part of my heart and soul. On May 15th 1994, I was born on the Upper West Side of Manhattan New York City, and had been bullied my entire life for my High Functioning Autism Syndrome. Even though I had endured adversity, while going through occupational speech therapy classes, due to my inability to verbally speak in White Plains New York before the age of three, I never let adversity and my battles with anxiety define who I am. I have lived my entire life with an Eye of the Tiger positive attitude and with endless love, compassion, and kindness and gratefulness for my loving South Miami Florida and Jewish Jerusalem Israeli based family. During the fourteen years that I had spent living in White Plains Westchester New York, I had, at the age of ten years old earned a second degree black belt in Tae Kwon Do Martial Arts by breaking a board on fire, and overcoming Bear Mountain State Park’s black ice covered hiking trail in Upstate New York. I know everyone associates this with Game of Thrones, and it has a strong, intense feel to it, as well as some of the other lyrics, but the lyrics "Higher farther" and especially "Onward and upward" make me think of Narnia. In both the Magician's Nephew and especially the Last Battle that is something they say a lot as they are striving to reach the garden/heaven/eden.
I agree. The line "lay down His life for me" made me think of Aslan. It makes me think of the Kings and Queens of Narnia always moving onward for someone who is above them "upward".
