    So glad Scotty you mentioned not to take the guard off the angle grinder. It amazes me the amount of times that you will see cut-off wheels being used without a guard - they can and do explode and people can and do die. And a word to all your sponsors - - I am and will continue to purchase items that are featured in your videos - I have a new workshop about to be fitted out - hence your hoist and tool suppliers will be getting sales from me - and I am sure I am not the only one. And I am not just saying this because I live in the same city - but CARANGE really is one of the most enjoyable car shows to watch and has provided a lot of great viewing - especially through these times of isolation for many - thanks guys. Have a safe and nice day all. CHEERS from AUSTRALIA.

      I had a tiny Dremel cutting wheel smoke me right between the eyes, I knew it was good because I heard it hit my skull. Small scar, but I tell you what, glad I had my safety squints on and it wasn't an unshielded 100-125mm disc coming for me.

      Guy I work with was using a big grinding wheel on a big grinder. Not sure what size, maybe 8” or something? Disc exploded. Hit him in the guy. We found pieces of disc in a 25’ radius.

    I also have quite a bit of the ryobi 18v range. Just love the whipper snipper with speed feed head and the 1/2 inch impact gun. The only one I have that I’m not impressed with is the circular saw!
    It’s the smallest in the range,works well but the cutting depth is only about 40mm,not enough. I’ll have to upgrade it. The drill,angle grinder and I’ve got their smallest blower and these all work very well. Just love the hedge trimmer! That gets a workout once I start pruning. Overall as a home handyman I rate these highly.

  • @farvatron

    Reading the comments it seems there are some happy Ryobi customers. I don't know if they make their tools differently across their ranges but my whipper snipper and air compressor were both absolute rubbish.

    • @gfenwick1
      @gfenwick1 2 роки тому

      Ryobi drills were rubbish, they are the cheAPest of the range. Pecking order is milwaukee, aeg and lastly ryobi. The aeg batts are interchangeable wirh bosch in the curr 18v range. Techtronic have ryobi as their low end range.. some of the aeg and ryobi parts are interchangeable ( battery controllers iirc). I like the ryobi recip saws as they are simple and bulletproof for what they are, but they seriously dont hold a candle to recip saws to stable sister equivs in aeg and milwaukee., good hometools, not commercial qual by any means

    You can always get the grinder discs off without a tool though. You just use the lock and then grab the disc and spin it to loosen the nut and it will come right off. Then you can tighten it the same way. No tool required and no special nut for the grinder needed.

    I'm not a huge fan of Ryobi but won't knock their usefulness I use Milwaukee and Makita but it's mainly the sort of work I do is on large cars and trucks so found mates Ryobi just didn't have enough power to get the job done so we switched to my Milwaukee and I've never stoped using mine. I'm super glad tho Ryobi are innovating especially their new pack system which is kinda cool

    Can't fault my Ryobi gear for my needs, I'd consider myself a "serious home-gamer" I thrash my One+ gear on the weekends, in the yard and in the shed. If you're "once in a while" kinda person that needs a drill or impact every so often, Ozito (few mates have, can't fault them either) is for you. For the person pumping tools all day, every day, go for the bigger toys, Milwaukee etc.

    I would add the hot air gun to that - makes short work of doing heat shrink on wiring and I wouldn’t be without the circular saw - I had a mains powered one and threw it away when I got the Ryobi saw and I have lost count of how many times the 90 deg drill has got me out of trouble !
    Sure if you are a builder or the like you might look at more expensive units as they are expected to work all day and cop severe abuse but I have had my first Ryobi drill for near on 10 yrs and used it for things it wasn’t intended for like driving the head of my milling machine up and down and it is still going strong !

    Does that light charge batteries if you’ve got it plugged in and a battery onboard?

    • @Beer_Dad1975
      @Beer_Dad1975 2 роки тому +1

      No, if you have a battery on it you can't open the door that covers the power plug so you can't have a battery and a cord plugged in at the same time. Surprisingly it chews through the batteries pretty quick too, I put a 5 amp/h on it normally and it'll only run for a few hours with that. Still a great lamp though, throws out so much light.

    While I use my Ryobi hammer drill most often, I've had cordless drills for decades so am not excited by them, would have to give the favorite award to my brushless reciprocating saw, the P517 not the newer, weaker model they have out now. P517 is the only one from them I'd consider, definitely not the old smaller brushed models more often bundled in their kits unless one-armed use for pruning is top priority.

      Simply not true, sure they have the budget entry level brush motor stuff, which can be a bit hit and miss (I made the mistake of buying the brush skill saw which is pretty useless TBH) but all the Ryobi brushless tools I've accumulated over the years are just as tough and better value for money for most of us that aren't pros than many of the high end brands. My father in law who was a professional builder before retirement has a lot of AEG and Bosh stuff that I've used a lot, so I'm not just talking out my arse.
