I crawl that stretch in the spring I can't even imagine winter road conditions. I wish I had known you were coming this far east - would have loved to have had you stay with us. Glad you are safe and if ever you come back to CB - I recommend spring or fall ;-)... different beauty all together. Diesel is a trooper and clearly a winter monkey:). Be well! Hey guys, we've had a few pints at Gahan House in Charlottetown ourselves. It's always cool when you recognize someplace watching a video. Holy shit! When you were losing momentum going up that hill ,I thought don't slide backwards😬 Quite the pucker factory eh? Glad you came out of that okay!! I never appreciated how much elevation Cape Briton Island has. Play safe guys, you are always welcome to stay here as a home base for some central Ont winter camping. Looking forward to the next one
Charlottetown was pretty sweet I wish we spent more time there ! Lol yeah that wasn't very fun 😅. Still shaking from that one. That is good to know I think we will be up that way in a couple weeks to do some snow camping 😁 Cheers !
The East Coast has its own kind of beauty and you have shown it with this adventure. Each and every adventure has its danger that you had experienced with the snow and steep terrain. So happy that your driving skills saved the day and your persistence to get it done . The diesel heater is a good idea and something to consider for future cold weather adventures. However a nice warm hot water bottle would help pre warm your bed.😊 Kyle you remind me of how much you are like Noel. The only time he gets new jeans is when there’s no ass left in them or he gains too much weight. This time he bought 3 pairs.(hint,hint). It was good to just see you, Alanna and my dream guy Diesel,he’s so handsome. Stay safe and can’t wait to see your next adventure.💖🫂

I went there from Montreal when I was 12 and 14 with my Daddy, so many memories and here I am at 63 living in Washington State and still being near water....lakes , rivers, and oceans. I was like Diesel never knowing salt water from fresh...Thanks so much for incredible footage and now I will finish video.
We had a time limit to get here and knew we'd be back in Ontario after this trip so there will be some Ontario winter videos in the near future as well :). Something about being by the water... it's almost hard to put into words. Cheers Shawn!
Ok the lil adorable ermine…”you can be our friend if you stay out from under our van “🤣 I’m so happy you guys got to explore in that area.. since we were on a cruise we were at the mercy of the docking hours and no car so even though we got to go there how much more fun to checkout the backroads!! Diesel is so cute making snow angels! ❄️❄️❄️ love that you filmed that awesome sound of walking in snow…I’m in desperate need of hearing that soon. No snow for me in western Washington quite yet..patiently waiting . Newfoundland/Labrador was one of the 3 provinces /territories we didn’t get to go to ..and Nunavut ….well you can’t drive there so that was a problem .. and Manitoba. But am proud to say I have been to the rest! The horses were so cool! And OMG I was freaking out when you were sliding backwards!!! But I must say Kyle ..that was amazing that you controlled it that well and kept it on the road and not off the cliff ! I probably would have just screamed the entire time and covered my eyes if I was driving and hence we would have been dead. Dennis was always my snow driver..I panic to easy when we are slipping. But again..I applaud you …and Alannah you poor thing I bet that was so terrifying! You were probably shook up for a while! 😢 but you both put your smiles back on and tried again. Good job! And awesome the locals were so nice! I bought us a shower tent and a camping shower that has hot water that you put the hose into any body of water ..even a bucket and it comes out hot! Well worth the 300$ I think it was..but our camper had a shower and a hot water heater and I loved that. Nothing better than a nice warm shower when you have been exploring for days! Newfoundland is in the cards for the (sort of) near future, we will figure out the Nunavut thing eventually ! and yeah, i'd be okay if we don't slide downhill backwards ever again. Especially hills with no guard rails 😅
Nova Scotia nomad tip: our province is full of natural springs. Look them up online, many are even on Google maps. They flow all year, and a true spring doesn't need to be filtered before you drink! That's what we do when our pipes freeze! It's ironic I've lived here for 3 years and haven't been to any of these places you're visiting yet 😅 but it looks like you missed the Cobequids and the Fundy and the South Peninsula, I know those well, I'd definitely show you around some time if you like, take you out on the trails in the 4Runner over the mountains and down on the beaches and show you the best camp spots down south. Great video. Should check out the Fjords of Quebec once it gets warmer. It’s a total hidden gem and you’d think you were in Norway. If your cider people. Make sure you try no boats on Sunday. It’s a Nova Scotia treasure We did the NL to Labrador run. Get the ferry to St John’s and leave out Port Basque pass on Labrador. It’s nothing but 1800km of nothing.
@@wayoftheroads it’s nothing more than miles on the van. There is nothing at all to do or see except Red Bay which you can do in an over night trip using the Ferry at Blanc Sablon. Everything past there is military towns and mining and it’s a long ride back to Quebec City from there. NL is great, the role it played in WW2, 9/11, the history of how the earth was formed we spent 11 weeks there, it’s a boondocks dream. I think we paid for a site 10 times and mostly was to get water and shower. If you want to see the ice bergs you need to be there before June. The boat over is quite expensive, if you take the day one there’s no need for a cabin.

Glad i got to ride along on another adventure. How old is Diesel i'm new to follow so you might have said in previous videos. I've adopted the older dogs & some haven't made it long but i know they had good life right at the end anyway. Be careful so i can ride along on my trips. The down the hill backwards would be very scary glad that ended ok for sure
Diesel is 9 and still going strong ! We do our best to give him the best life :). Yeah it was a little frightening... we found out quick not to mess with Atlantic weather haha. Thanks for being here Larry, cheers!
Have you considered using a diesel heater? Mount it outside the van, but run the duct through a window? I recently acquired one, but haven't used it yet.
Absolutely! We're doing some work on the van later this year and considering either a diesel heater or a wood stove. Money is also always a factor, so in the meantime we just bundle up 😂.
When you couldn't make it up the hill the 1st time why did you let your wife stay in the van with you? If the van had crashed going down you both might have been killed. She really should have just got outand walked back down with the dog. JMO. Silly to be going on those types of roads in remote places in a van. Safe driving.
@@MissX905 I see what you're saying for sure! Technically we didn't go up a second time, we waited at the bottom of the steep part when we knew it was a no go. I guess in our defense, the weather came in extremely fast. Now if we weren't helped by the kind local and I had no choice but to try again then they definitely would've been waiting at the bottom of the hill. We appreciate your concern 😁

Loved the horses. Airing down your tire to 20lb makes a huge difference, snow and sand are the same.

Do you keep an average litres per 100km mileage record of your van’s performance? Does your van have a V8 or V6 engine with 6 or 8 speed transmission?
