Priceless, the shocked look on Marty's face when he was given the clue "dam" for reservoir. He thought it was the swear word. Took him aback for awhile.

Example of changing word meanings. Today the clue for web would almost certainly be internet. Or worldwide.

I've been watching all the episodes and the lightning round at around the 6:00 mark is the worst I've ever seen on clues. Even Jack Carter would shake his head at those clues. Battery~Duracell or eveready; Pie~Alamode or Easy as.. or Geometry Number. Apple was good but he doinked out after that failed, and Mane~Portland, Agusta, Bangor. Since he went with horses why didn't he say hair? He ended up doing much better on his 2nd lightning round.

Rossi seems awfully stuck on himself. Wasn't interacting with anyone...

DouglassD Yeah, as I watched the episode again, I can see why his behavior seemed to create that perception for you. Right about the 16 minute mark Steve was playing with his fingers and rolling his eyes at incorrect answers. It was as if the appearance was beneath him and a waste of his time. Truthfully, he didn’t seem to connect with Marty either like other celebrities who banter with each other. Who knows? Maybe he wasn’t feeling well that day...

@@rockaway2k Marty was clearly distracted by that Zsa-Zsa Gabor style blonde. Couldn't take his eyes off of her. Then the word "cuddle" came up, and I was anticipating the game getting really interesting.
Steve always was the more serious one. He seemed a little frustrated at one point, almost bored.
Some of those words really were rather difficult. I've never heard of "GOB" in reference to anything Naval. That one stumped me.

@@jrnfw4060 One of the attractions of Password is hearing some words that really stretch your vocabulary, many of which are now considered archaic. No wonder the game was used in schools, social settings, and homes, of course.
It was told to me a while back that Steve was an arrogant person and that Marty Allen was a very nice, sweet individual. I CAN speak of my personal experience with Marty and my mom & I found him to be very kind. A real gentleman.

@@rockaway2k I've noticed during various interviews with the duo that Steve came across to me as a bit arrogant and aloof. He wasn't as personable as Marty. He also seemed a bit envious of Marty's continued success after they broke up -- nothing explicitly said, but I got a clear sense of that.
Yes, Marty was a gentleman and he exuded warmth. I hope he's in a wonderful place right now, totally happy and at peace.
He suffered a bad fall and broke his hip on Christmas Day in 2017, and underwent surgery for it which I'm sure must have rendered him immobile and probably in a lot of pain. That led to pneumonia that complicated and that was the end. I think, at that point, death was a blessing. He probably saw the end of his career and no longer being able to do the things he loved and enjoyed so much.
I also hope that Steve is in a good place. He died in 2014 of cancer. I wish the best for both of them in the hereafter.

@@jrnfw4060 Yeah, Marty was about the same age as my aunt who suffered a similar accident with her hip. Up to the age of 90, she was driving a car with paper plates and worked in her complex’s gift shop. Upon breaking her hip, my aunt lived about 18 months. She wasn’t the same, though 2/3rds of elderly people last about six months after a hip fracture. She made it to 96.
I didn’t know that Marty broke his hip, I believe he was still performing into his 90’s at the time. And yea, I do hope both men entered into the joy of YHWH.
