  • WARNING THIS WILL FRY THE FACTORY ESC!!!!
so i was attempting to fly my MXS in the rain the other day, ended up frying the factory 40 amp esc, had a spare 70A sitting around so i tossed that in and ran a 2200 4s 100c ovonic on the stock 1230kv motor and WOW, this is how this plane should come from FMS. Still getting 4 mins of flight time ripping on it, battery and leads are hot coming down but 1230kv is alot on a 11" prop with 4s, going to mechanically max out the elevator and rudder to really get the most out of the spins (both KE and flat) as well as getting more rotation on the crankshafts or for just swinging the ass around in general.
If you own this plane, grab the cheapo eflite 70A esc on amazon and swap it in, the added velocity for tumbles and the power to climb out of a hover make it really worth the $50 and 15mins. My neighbor was flying high alpha with it really well, something im going to give a shot now that i have the power to shoot out of it if i screw up low to the ground

that motor just sounds angry at full throttle on 4s. it really flies just fine on 3s IMHO. i also had to replace my stock ESC and had a 60A lying around, so i could do this too (did a full throttle run-up with it on the ground) but i'm worried about overstressing the motor and airframe.

@@flywithmike6904 the motor did get hot running it for extended full throttle runs but just cruising around with the occasional full power blast it did fine even in Texas heat.
A lot of the scream is prop noise, that prop has a wide tip almost bull nose

Sure flies solid... Congrats on the upgrade...

Thanks! Kind of an accident but really an improvement over 3S (which I thought was fine until yesterday 🤣).
How’s your skywing treating you? I think I’m getting close to pulling the trigger on something from them or Flex, bigger / heavier 3D bird to fly now that I’m not shaking like a leaf flying this 😆😆🙈

@@Finalmile_FPV I'm loving the Skywing Edge.. Great plane and performs excellent.. That said, they feel a bit cheap with the hybrid construction. But that construction makes it crazy light..

@@SteffenRC the thought had crossed my mind. Yours is a 48”? I’m looking at them in the 61” and 68” I’m trying to figure out if they are traditional covering in the larger sizes, I think they are.
That being said, the 48” is I believe under $400 for a PNP, which feels like a better deal than $569 for a full foam 60” from flex, despite how fantastic flex innovations is.

@@Finalmile_FPV I think the larger are built in a different way. I believe they are ply, balsa and covering. The PNP is a great deal. Their electronics are gonna be top shelf.

How does that song go? We'll live in fame... or go down in flame? Oh yeah, nothing can stop the U.S. Airforce. Hehe

I see your flying at river city, how often do you fly there?

It as often as I used to, new job has me pretty busy. I try and make it out on Saturdays when the crew goes, other than that usually Tuesday during the day.
      Are you local SA?

On the manual it says to use a 4s. On the website it says a 3s. So which is it?

Servos look like they are actually pretty quick too for a pnp too

They are, control rods are also .25mm thicker than my other FMS PNP planes, ball links are so so plastic but it looks like they made an effort.

How about bringing it down about one mile so we can see it. Not much fun watching a dot move around in the sky.

How is the 4s holding up with the stock motor any problems to date ?

    • @Finalmile_FPV
      @Finalmile_FPV  4 місяці тому +1

I biffed it awhile back and destroyed it lol. But I will say after 15-20 flights everything was holding up fine. Some noticeable heat in the front end after a serious throttling but nothing that would alarm me. Surprisingly not a lot of heat in the connectors or battery leads, less even than the stock eflite extra 300.
Might buy another, it just flys so light compared to other 3D foamies in this class
