A very refreshing video and perfectly filmed, keep up the good work I look forward to learn more, personally I think this is the next level of my fishing journey and my next fishing adventures.
Thanks Alex, glad you're enjoying them and I will do my best to produce more. The wind is causing havoc on my marks at the moment but as soon as it calms down I'll be back out!
Great videos! I'm heading to Cornwall in mid June to do some fishing, have you fished there before? Any tips as to locations, tide times? Thanks in advance!
Thanks Eric! Unfortunately I haven't fished in Cornwall so I really can't give you any direct advice, but I know the Cornish coastline a haven for Bass judging by the number of reports I see from down that way. Just pick any good looking area and give it a go. Any kind of structure such as rocks, ledges, drop off's etc. should hold fish. You could always contact the local tackle shops and ask for advice, I'm sure they would point you in the right direction. Let me know how you get on ;) Chris.
Glad you enjoyed it Graham and yes you are right I should be wearing glasses really. I would certainly recommend it. As the light dropped the glasses I was wearing were a bit too dark and I did make a note to change to a different pair for future evening sessions.
Chris enjoyed watching that thank you. It would of been good to show some different retrieves and talking about them I only saw you stripping it. I used to solely fly fish for bass but switched to lures a few years ago. Looking to do a bit of fly this season. When do you choose to fly fish over lures? I'm assuming wind and weather conditions dictate largely? Thanks Jon
Hello Jon, very glad to hear you enjoyed the video. Thanks for the feedback and yes perhaps a video on different retrieves would be a good idea. Like yourself I have switched more to fishing with lures but will still fish fly when circumstances are right. As you suggested it is very much weather and wind dictated as to if I decide to fish the fly on the coast. Living on the Isle of Wight we get very few windless, or low wind days in a year and long gone are the days of me enthusiastically battling stronger breezes in order to catch Bass on the fly! My energy levels aren't what they were and I struggle a bit with the physical nature of fly fishing on the coast nowadays so it really does have to be right for me. When stripping I do try and vary the way I strip sometimes but honestly I have found just a straight steady strip works as good as anything with the odd pause, allowing the fly to fall for a moment... much the same as when lure fishing, a straight steady retrieve with the the odd pause or wrist flick works as well as anything.
@@SilverScalesFlyTyingandFishing thanks Chris. Meant to say a good example of double hauling to. Something I've never spent the time on but reminded me to try to get it going. I'm keen to try the fly and let the fly just drift around like I would soft plastics. Possibly wishful thinking but you never know until you try
Thanks! I'm using older Rio 8wt outbound floating and intermediate lines, both have a shooting head profile and are slightly over standard weight but the BVK seems to like them :)
@@SilverScalesFlyTyingandFishing Nice! i intened to buy this rod ! Do you think it will load with true to weight WF lines likeairflo striper or orvis hydros?
I should think it will be absolutely fine with those lines, the intermediate outbound I use is only half a weight over I think, and it loves that line better than the floating which is actually quite a lot over.
@@SilverScalesFlyTyingandFishing thought the rio outbound is way more heavy than the aftma standard thats why i asked you about the true weight lines. Thanks a lot anyways :P
Great video, thanks …. I’ve just immigrated to the Uk south coast from South Africa and can’t wait to get fly fishing for sea bass … 👍🏻
Love the stripping basket. Big enough for rod 👍
Great job Chris, not too easy to catch more than one seabass in a single flyfishing session!
Thanks Fabrizio :)
Thanks for all the hints and tips, totally new to the world of saltwater fishing looking into getting set up👍🏻
Glad to be able to help :)
I am a total beginner. This is just great! Beautiful flys!

Very nice vid Chris. Can you say something to your tackle you use? Rod, reel, line, leader?
Cheers, Andreas
Thanks Andreas, glad you enjoyed it :) I will run through the gear in the next video for you ;)

@@SilverScalesFlyTyingandFishing Thanks very much Chris I will take a look!
