My fellow Australian...proving once again that Lisa Gerrard is an inter-dimensional being incarnated here speaking to us in a tongue that none of us understands and yet we feel the great power of her message in a genre of music of which there is only one: one in which the dead can dance!
@@dhorus28 saw them in 94 and through the tears of pure bliss from the opening chords the lights behind her transformed into wings....one of the most beautiful moments in my life, was luck to see Lisa's solo tour for the Mirror Pool and the Spiritchaser tour..... always angelic.... her face in this smiles that radiate with a bliss from somewhere she sees that I dream of from these sounds.....
I worked with her once in the studio. Her voice , so powerful, I am not ashamed to admit the tears were streaming down my face. It is one thing to listen to someone on an album, it is another to watch them at a concert ... and it is something completely different to see them 5ft from you through the glass. And such a nice person too. Literally one of the best artists I have ever worked with.
Lisa is a gift to humanity, her voice is like the singing of birds, it is a connection with other dimensions, it is the explanation that without music life would make no sense.
As lovely as this video is, you NEED to be in the room with her to experience her true power! I had the pleasure of seeing her perform this live recently and the whole venue positively reverberates with energy, it was a truly electrifying experience! Her voice is one of humanities greatest treasures and also best kept secrets. Truly magical.
When I think of popular music on the radio, I laugh. This is an experience, almost being in another realm...it’s so crazy. Loved it for so long but never thought to look on UA-cam.Amazing
When I first heard this song in 94 tears started welling up. She's the only vocalist to move me in such a way. And it's not from sadness or joy, but from something even more profound.
Perfect song to read the subjective forms of the clouds and to follow with a tender eye the grooves of the stems of the trees; appreciate the complex writing of the nested branches, taste the colors of the decomposition of light into water droplets in a garden, and strongly feel the wet soil of the ancestral forest to perceive the traces of animals from deep past..
One of the best songs (though I did not understand the lyrics) , but it touched me at a very deep level. Great singer . She derserved Oscar for "we are free" (Gladiator movie) . Something different. First I heard in the late night before going to sleep, and when I got up in the morning , first I wanted to donwload her song , and I never listen to any songs in the morning. great voice, infact gifted by The Supreme Power.
Ulysses: .." The next fool who tries to bind me to this mast I will cast into the sea, this is a Goddess singing! Sadly, the ship was destroyed by the rocks and all men lost. They never learn
THIS IS LIGHT LANGUAGE, She’s speaking a mix of Lyran and Carian light language, I understand what she’s saying to a certain degree, It translates to a story about maintaining balance between Orion and Draco at least that’s what I understood, there was mentions of Rigel at least twice and another star I’m not familiar with, Bellatrix, all of these happen to be in the orion’s belt from my knowledge, Interesting.
I don't think so.... the whole piece is about spirit dances of different tribes, around the world (Yulunga-Spirit Dance-is the title of it)... and among them there are the Sufis, dancing their own dance that drives them into a sort of ecstasy towards the Divine. I think I had read many years ago in one of her interviews, that Lisa Gerrard who was born in Australia, lived in a multicultural environment and had heard some oriental music.... maybe, therefore, this piece is strongly influenced by her childhood memories. This is what I remember.
It’s special they lived in my lifetime to hear……

Saw them back in1998 and remembering a lot of us in the audience saying that she looks like she is glowing like an angel.

I saw her live in 2004 at a concert in munich. I also had the feeling, she is not from this world, wonderful, fascinating, transzendent...
Most of her songs are Greek language

Agree with you, this is spiritual, emotional music

Without a doubt she is my favorite female vocalist!
Besides Loreena McKennitt and Kathy Kelly. 😊
Can you imagine being able to sing like this?
nope
Tengo 40 años y cuando tenía 7 mi padre ya me ponía a Lisa Gerard, dead can dance demasiado buenos
I've sat 10-feet from Lisa when she's performed Yulunga, but sadly missed this performance. Experiencing her live is life-altering.
I went to dead can dance concert in my city Guadalajara Jalisco México many years ago ,that was wonderful 👍 😊
I love how Lisa always seems to really enjoy singing too. It's great to see a musician smile while they're performing.
Truly ethereal a stunning masterpiece
Almost crying with this orchestral version. Thanks for posting!

Magnificent performance of this DCD classic! I was lucky to have been in the public, and it was a very deep emotional experience!

It was brilliant! Very funny coincidence, but I saw her 2 hours ago again in Sofia, and the feeling wasn't the same:( Not beacuse of her, of course.
One of my favourite Dead Can Dance pieces. As I remember it this song was in the film Baraka as well. Awe inspiring.

Algumas das cordas atrasaram o tempo na partitura e o maestro chamou a atenção.
Если меня так прёт , то какие горизонты подвластны ей?
Как в этой женщине умещается вселенная?
What a voice!! Who wrote Yalunga? It's powerful
The original is a better recording. Mesmerizing though! Lisa is a Phenom.
Does anyone know the meaning/language she sings? Google didn't seem very trustworthy on it. Thanks!
I've read that it's not a real language sometimes, she use her own phonetics to enphase the sounds, not the words. Maybe, here, it's this !:)
She said "I sing in the language of the Heart. It's an invented language that I've had for a very long time."
@@axelle1579 Sure thing the heart understands it! Thank you and blessings! 💛
@@barbarabarbara1527 Beautiful!

I think they were enjoying themselves..

I like it but it has a irritating ring of Muslim? ? ? Is it? anyone?
