The 1960s and 1970s were the peak decades for the UK. I was in my teens and twenties during this era. It's all been downhill since then.
Memories memories, all so long ago. Thanks for sharing.
i lived in rock lane east in the 70's as a kid...still the best years of my life.
thank you brought up In meols 1959-1985 thank you so much

Brilliant thank you
Great update as always
I had a summer job in the 70s looking after the brass band arena in Vale Park. Stephen Hancock, the actor who played Ernie Bishop in Corrie, conducted one of the top bands. Happy days.
Poor old Ernie😢
At 14:22, was that 'The Mammoth' crane in the background?
In the 1956 film "The Green Man" actor George Cole whist searching a phone book the actress with him mentioned New Brighton as being in Cheshire ?
The Wirral used to be part of Cheshire. I think it changed in the 70s. When I was a kid in the 80s, some people still weren't happy about it. I seem to remember something about a free bus pass as part of Cheshire.
The whole peninsula used to be in Cheshire, now just the south part of it is.
@@green9832 The Tories wrecked the real map of Britain to keep their fake boundary MPs in a majority Govt
Post code is still CH for all of the Wirral. All of us in the Wirral were in Cheshire. Proud of it
Very good, some intersting stuff on here. Just wondering about the fire you mentioned at 15:27 - Thats a mark 2 Ford Transit you can see, which I think were introduced around 1976, so the footage may be of a different fire, or this was later than 1970
Oh maybe you are right
the picture of ST mary,s church was in eastham not port sunlight as stated, but some good memories.
Hi. Yes , I think I made a slight error there.
I didn't expect the whole thing to be out of focus!
Good old Cine Film
Very good. Where more flats destroyed in the early 80s in Birkenhead by explosion on Laird Street by the Bike Shop?
Think it was just the 2 tower blocks
