Be sure to export and upload in 4K to UA-cam for comparisons like this (even if the video is only 1080p). This will allow UA-cam to stream a higher bitrate and result in a closer to real comparison on the viewer's end.
Thanks for the video! That was a very useful comparison. It turns out that when you just need to reduce noise in the video, sometimes the result is better in Davinci, and sometimes in Topaz. But if you also need to increase resolution, then Topaz.
Is there a 4k version of this video, because UA-cam is only showing it in 1080p, and the NR and macro blocking from UA-cam is eliminating all noise in the source making this video a more or less useless comparison as of July 2024?
It depends on the NR method being used, and the details one is trying to retain in the source footage. I find the new Ultra NR in DaVinci Resolve is often better after the color space transform where as a lot of times temporal NR is best done at the very beginning while the image is still in log form. Spatial NR is more of a mixed bag sometimes working better at the beginning and other-times working better after the CST, but none are 100% in all footage situations. So it might take some experimentation.

Question.
Is it better to do colour correction before or after noise reduction?

Good summary!
topaz is a rip off. Pay as you go Adobe model. Quit using them after they started it. Waste of money
You can pay 1 year and keep using it without updates after that 1 year. It's not a subscription model. And provides great results.
