  • Choosing better words means choosing a better world - a world of intelligent thought, empathy, and compassion.
    Few people could articulate this as well as Talat Hussain, a legend in Pakistan's media and entertainment industry.
    Remembering him on his passing, we honor his contributions and wisdom.
    Here's a clip from his 2018 interview with DW اردو where he talks about the state of spoken Urdu in Pakistan.

    One of the last legends. These legends entertained us while teaching educating us.

    Grew up watching his incredibly diverse acting and influencial personality. Embodiment of courtesy and culture. Very sad he isn't with us anymore. May Allah grant him Jannat-ul-Firdaus. Aameen

    Also, language evolves with time. Old Arabic in the Quran is different from what Arabs speak. The same with Shakespearean English is different from modern English full of slang.

    The biggest damage done to Urdu muslim Tehzib after India divide! Now in pakistan speaking correct Urdu with softness and lyrical tone has become stranger in Pakistan where people say jitthay di khouwti ouwtthay aan khalouwti and laugh on those who say pohnchi wahein pe khaak jahaaun ka khameer ttha!

      What are you saying bro

  • @U2too
    @U2too Місяць тому

    Respect the man...but what he is saying is incorrect.
    Bolaa is a derivative of bol.
    In English, talk, say, speak...means pretty much the same....in Urdu as well, you can use different variations of any word... doesn't rock your culture or sanctity of the language.

    • @SDSen
      @SDSen Місяць тому

      Yeah, but using Bola just sounds weird, "Kaha" is far better and almost all Pakistan's use that, "Bola" is used by most in India

    • @U2too
      @U2too Місяць тому

      @@SDSen The word "بولا" in Urdu means "spoken" or "said." It is derived from the verb "بولنا" which means "to speak" or "to say." In different contexts, it can refer to someone having spoken or expressed something verbally.For example, in a poetic line, "بولا" might be used to signify a dialogue or an expression of feelings.

      You ask Shair, doo bool sunaa daain... You don't say doo kahaay daain.
      Semantics matter.

      @@U2too I'm talking in general convos, saying Maine bola just doesn't right or befitting and we Pakistanis say kaha in place of that

      @@SDSen our culture ( example of culture: what we wear, celebrate, eat, drink, music, arts, language etc.) has been highly intruded, diluted, influenced by other cultures and religions. At this point, we have nothing 'original'.
