Dagali Seterdalen, Norway 4K - Mountain nature by the brim of Hardangervidda National Park

- A windy summer day in July 2021 ... We traveled from clear blue skies and warm temperatures in Kongsberg to my mother's birthplace, the mountain hamlet of Dagali. There was a thin cloud layer, strong winds and considerably cooler weather. I still took the chance to fly with my drone. Time and time again, the Djis Mavic 2 Pro has impressed me with its capacity in fairly strong winds. 🌬
Dagali is located in Hol municipality and the inner part of the valley of Seterdalen we visit in this video borders the Hardangervidda national park. Dagali can offer beautiful nature and a river that invites for various river activities, such as rafting. In this video we also visit a couple of locations where some of our ancestors, all the way back to the early 18th century, once lived and worked.
Disclaimer: I did not fly in the national park itself, if anyone is wondering. There is also an airport with little activity at the other end of the valley, but I have been in contact with them and I was only asked to be observant for any small aircraft traffic. 😉

En forblåst sommerdag i juli 2021... Vi reiste fra klar blå himmel og varm temperatur i Kongsberg til mors hjembygd, fjellbygda Dagali. Der var det et tynt skylag, kraftig vind og betraktelig kjøligere vær. Jeg tok likevel sjansen på å fly med drona mi. Gang på gang har Djis Mavic 2 Pro imponert meg med sine egenskaper i ganske kraftig vind. 🌬
Dagali ligger i Hol kommune og den innerste delen av Seterdalen vi besøker i denne videoen grenser mot Hardangervidda nasjonalpark. Dagali kan by på vakker natur og ville elvestryk som er et meget populært for diverse elveaktiviteter, som f.eks rafting. I denne videoen besøker vi også et par steder hvor noen av våre forfedre, helt tilbake til begynnelsen av 1700 -tallet, en gang bodde og virket.
For å ha nevnt det; jeg fløy altså ikke i selve nasjonalparken, hvis noen lurer på det. Det er også en flyplass med liten aktivitet i andre enden av dalføret, men de har jeg vært i kontakt med og bare blidt bedt om å være observant for evt. småflytafikk. 😉

Thank you so much! 😃 Yes, the Hardangervidda national park is 3422 km² and stretches over 4 counties. It's northern Europe's largest mountain plateau. So what you see in the video is just a little piece. But we generally got a lot of forests and mountains in Norway. 😅 It's also great seeing it from the air for me. I have spent much time in the area as a kid since my grandparents lived not far away from here, but never seen it from above.

Your mom grew up in a very beautiful yet very remote location. Amazing how far you can see into the distance. At first I thought the terrain looked similar to home but from other angles it looks very unique and more barren. I bet the rafters had a great time, you got some really great footage of them.

Yes, this place seems very remote, especially in the direction of the national park. And it is a stretch from the main road in here. Today it's a lot of cabins and tourism in this part. Many hike from here and into the mountain plateau Hardangervidda.
I don't know how interested you are in WW2 history, but the saboteurs who blew up the heavy water plant in Rjukan, further west, in 1943 passed this area when they fled to Sweden after the operation. I remember my grandfather, who was in the local resistance, telling there were a lot of german activity here then. 😉
But thinking about living here some hundreds years ago, and how remote it must have been, puts me in awe and respect.

Thank you! 😊 No, I don't think I would manage living like that. Although I somehow also find it a bit appealing.🤔 But it's hard to imagine the struggles our ancestors once had, living and working like that.
When I saw some houses in the middle of eastern part of haradatten place ,I couldn’t imagine how to live to this such remote area ,and there was living since from 18century and they are blacksmith ,nice to knew it !
They Have a great scenery but isolated and must be lonesome people who live there!

Especially in the summer time, for hunting and fishing. Today there are cabins there used for vacation and recreation. And many hikers walk from here and into Hardangervidda. I'm fascinated how people lived in the past. 🙂
