A couple from my church had this problem with their wipers, they were quoted £500 from a garage to fix it. Just did it at my house with the £20 eBay kit with help from your video. Hugely grateful (and so are they). Thanks!

Invaluable video my friend, thank you. I've got a micra K12 and the wipers were working, but were super smeary and vibrating, even with new wipers. Also, on full speed the wipers were hitting the scuttle panel. Followed your video and fitted the exact same linkage rods from Wipex, and all sorted now. The old ones had so much play in them. Thanks again.

6 to 8 weeks on a part sure is a long time Rob. That aftermarket linkage look just as good or even better than the OEM. And I'm sure it was a lot cheaper which should really make the customer happy. Great workmanship as always! 😀👍

Nissan are terrible when it comes to spares. Had the same sort of wait time for a rear foglight switch a couple of years ago. On top of that the garage had to half dismantle the dashboard as, although the switch was designed to pop in from the front, the wires weren't long enough to disconnect the old one without having a hand behind the dashboard.

Got this same job to do this week, just waiting for the linkages to arrive. Funny thing, I had a 1983 Ford Sierra years ago that used the same idea of those plastic cups (a lot easier to get at though). Used to pop off regularly, usually driving up the motorway on a wet day. I bodged it a few times jamming it with a mars bar wrapper. No eBay back then and the breakers wouldn't sell me the linkage, only the whole assembly. In the end I think I deformed the loose end with a heat gun and flipped the linkage so the cups were on different balls and it never came off again. Seems strange they still use parts like this that are clearly made to fail.

Nice video rob, another cheap fix with those linkages drill a hole in the center of the ball and socket regrease it pop it back on, then put a small washer at either side of it and then split pin. Make sure to cut off excess of the split pin because it will catch on the linkage or wiper motor.

Thank you couldn't have done it without you. Never tried before . Had no tool for wiper one came off handy other not so. But sprayed WD 40 left overnight. Tip leave nut loose don't take off completely and put wiper position as if changing. Then wiggle while pulling. Worked.. also when clipping new rod to arm I cracked one plastic bit ( but still fine ) maybe use cloth or something when pressing. Also just check u have clipped on as I didn't do one right si fell off when put in car. But just took all out again clipped on heard snap ,put all back again Happy days. I when putting wipers back no harm putting towel or something on windscreen in case wiper snaps down again wiper on then nut loose then lay on windscreen . Thanks again ..

Same happened to me 10 or so years ago when I had a BMW E34 525tds.
Went to the main dealer, got a silly quote for a full linkage.
However the parts guy knew his stuff and said he was sure just the primary linkage was available separately.
Strangely enough it was listed for the petrol models but not the diesels.
That was a similar price difference I think, £30 Vs £250+

I love your channel because you are presenting a whole range of auto repair(different kind of repairs). Can i have your opinion on this matter. Kia Magentis 2008 ABS+EBD Automatic FWD. Today i stopped at red light. When i released the brake to continue the car didn't move and i needed to press hard on acceleration in order to move it(very slow) to side of the road. In "Neutral" and parking brake DEactivated i lifted every wheel of the car and all of them were hard locked. The brake pedal was jelly soft .NO ABS light, no brake fluid loss.I continued pressing the the brake pedal tens of times to the floor and suddenly everything is back to normal. (pedal got stiffer like before) I've driven 25km since then and no problems. What could it be? :)

Try putting as much pressure on with the puller then apply some small taps with a hammer/drift near the spindle. The combo of pressure and vibration often breaks it free.

Seems like a very "euro" tactic by Nissan if you ask me, £250 for a new linkage? I want some of what they're smoking. I wouldn't spend that on a Honda part let alone a Renault part with a Nissan label on. The new Nissan's don't hold a candle to the old ones.

I use main dealers for some parts.Went to do an oil change on my 08 vectra 1.8 with only 70,000 on clock,1st time i done it it was like £40 with Vat all the parts. Then went to do 2nd oil change same parts and they wanted £80 Day light robbery.Went after market then.See the person fitted the windscreen liked slapping the black primer on as it run down the bulkhead.Happy xmas to you and your family.Be good if you and leon done a video fixing a car together maybe you can teach him a few things lol :-)

I think it's "order from the mill". So, firths they need to make them(not just one) and then ship them to a warehouses + it's shipping to UK ;)

It's not like the Micra is a rare car over here. That is not acceptable Nissan.

Would have thought the parts came from Sunderland and not Amsterdam.

Who knows how they operate their after sales parts operation. I’ve needed a blower for a qashqai before and been told it comes from Amsterdam. Thing is.. that’s a really slow boat to take 6-8 weeks!

This is always how they get you when you buy an eco box. Just buy a merc or BMW. Parts seem to be very reasonable in my experience. Ford are another lot of piss takers. Cheap cars, expensive after sales.
