Short story time. When I was a kid, I brought my console over to my grandma's house to play Sonic Unleashed. I played it in her living room as she and her friend watched. I'll never forget how they commented on how destructive Sonic was as I ran through Rooftop Run, blowing through people's houses and outdoor furniture. I scoffed at the idea because "Sonic is the hero," but as I got older I realized... I'm sure insurance companies don't cover for "Acts of Sonic the Hedgehog."
People forget that Sonic's principals aren't for a moral code. He believes that NO ONE should be oppressed, hero, neutral, or villan, no matter where you stand you should be given that choice to change, not be forced into it. So a goverment that wants to contain him because he moves at the speed of sound (Even if it is to save people's property and lives...if you ignore the fact they use a giant semi-truck with saws that goes through builds and tears roads.) is not something he agrees with. After all he is a mobian who likes nature, so why would he care about a city that's meant to block nature out.
I mean, he did get arrested in Sonic Adventure 2, and I love to head canon that him accidentally destroying City Escape was used as evidence against him during the trial. This would at least make Shadow looking like Sonic not be the only reason why he’s in jail! XD
The one decent part about *that one fangame* is genuinely that GUN legally scams Sonic out of their partnership to guard the emeralds and seizes them. Because that is something I could actually see them do if Sonic games were real.
If Sonic was able to talk to the player, after you destroy a car he whould say:Player! What the heck you'v done?!?!?!?You destoy a car which now are you wondering how much is jt righ?Well... IT WAS A LOT OF MONEY! I don't want to go to prison dude! Please, don't destroy other cars
I feel like the fairest way to calculate this is to do what you did by showing the absolute maximum level of damage you can cause, but then you should also do a Playthru where you see what is the absolute minimum level of damage you can cause, and then take the average from those two outcomes.
I’m only now realizing how hilarious and absurd the concept of a hedgehog “snowboarding” down San Francisco, inadvertently destroying millions worth of property within a few minutes, while also being a wanted fugitive really is when removed from its context 💀
The real reason Iizuka tried to pull the "There's no money in Sonic's world" bit was because Sonic couldn't be fined for money if there was no money to fine to begin with.
It's funny how the Avengers movies explain about the property damage and what happened to everybody in the background. Meanwhile in the Sonic games, everyone in the background somehow survived all that damage caused by Perfect Chaos, The Black Arms, Dark Gaia, Mephiles, etc.
Usually Sonic doesn't have to kill enemies he just incapacitates them or they're robots but destroying cars presumably with people inside is alot of cause for concern..
Think of the costliest natural disasters ever but multiply by like 100 because it's a huge city and literally everything is destroyed. Eggman basically destroyed the city the same way militaries do after bombing them repeatedly except flooded too.
God damn that intro was clean (especially that transition)! Huge props to whoever made it, as they kept the great vibe of the OG. Plus i love videos like this, things that we all have probably have thought of while playing these games.
So, are we going to add in the hospital bills from those moving cars? Assuming they had people inside of them Sonic sends them flying whenever he either runs into them or knocks other cars into them. Some of them get sent quite a distance so there may be some possible deaths too XD
Further Proof Sonic Is A Menace To Society. This becomes even worse when you consider how many more laws Sonic breakthrough out the game. I mean just think about metal harbor, and how many millions of dollars are worth of military equipment sonic destroyed without a second thought. Even if you try arguing that G.U.N was corrupt at one point due to the cover up of the Ark Raid, they are still supposed to be our standing for the military in this universe. So sonic pretty much crippled United Federation’s defense department, right before Eggman held the world hostage. Sonic is probably partially to blame why G.U.N couldn’t just counterattack the Eggman Empire.
Over $90 Milllon… that’s A LOT. Although it probably woulda been less if chat GPT didn’t get $62 million outta teleportation tech. Anyways now I wanna see a vid where you calculate the amount of time it would take to pay that off… with rings.
@@ToonyTails well, realistically, teleportation would be very expensive due to what it's worth, it must be pretty hard to make a machine able of teleporting itself.
I'd honestly say that ChatGPT underestimated the cost of most of these military drones. Unmanned military drones cost anywhere from around a million to several million dollars. That's not even getting into stuff like jet planes and tanks, which can cost dozens of millions each. I can see teleportation tech by itself costing 60 million dollars easily regardless of what it's attached to, considering an F-16 costs 60-70 million dollars and that jet fighter sure as shit can't teleport.
In regards to cars, the vast majority of Crown Victorias that see taxi service are former police cruisers with their police equipment removed and the rear doors - that can't be opened or unlocked from the inside for obvious reasons - swapped out for the doors on your standard Panther Platform. Crown Victoria, Marauder, Town Car, etc. While every other car could be classed at base-level trim, factor in the starting price of the dedicated Crown Victoria Police Interceptor trim and it could be significantly higher.
This actually depends on how you control Sonic around city escape. I think it’s possible to not do any property damage, minus the crates that’s mandatory to break and the tire
After picking up my lunch for my break, I found out my car was demolished by a massive Goverment Semi chasing a hedgehog. But they saved the world from utter annihilation, so I can’t be too mad about it
Great video Chaomix! I love it so much, loved your cool teenager energy, the new intro, the new thumbnail and the new approach to upcoming vids! Man your way past cool!

Sonic: I won't kill Eggman; he has so much good in him. Also Sonic: **slams through a car which is actively being driven at 758.4 mph; most likely reducing the driver and all passengers to a thin red paste** No wonder GUN was after him. I think I'll be careful in City Escape from now on.
I find it kind of hilarious 😂 that two thirds of the cost come from the teleport gold beetle and ninety percent of that (at least) comes from hyper advanced teleportation technology.
I actually try my absolute hardest to dodge the cars in city escape because I don't want to cause property damage. It's up to the player to decide if Sonic causes property damage or not. I still try to avoid them to this day. I'm a law abiding citizen, what can I say?
I feel like Sonic should be charged extra for the little crates since they have GUN's insignia on them! doesn't that count as destruction of military property??
