After seeing this movie, I felt so much respect for Joseph. I knew he was important, but this movie really shows how willing and faithful he was. Most men would stone a woman who came home pregnant with a child that was not of their husband, but Joseph did what no man would have ever done at the time; he stayed by Mary all the way through. I can't help but think that people don't give Joseph enough recognition. Mary IS special, but Joseph... I think he's just as special. I love these people.

I agree, but I think God also had a calling for Joseph as well, which he submitted too and I respect Joseph the most for that. He accepted Jesus as his own son and did not have to do that but he did and I also respect him a good deal for that.
Honestly the best nativity movie I have seen in my life. The cinematography, historical detailing, and biblical accuracy was impeccable. And props to Oscar Isaac who did an outstanding job as Joseph. This was the best portrayal I’ve seen of Joseph so far.

A very well made film, even I as an atheist enjoy it. I appreciate that it doesn't shy away from some details that a lot of sanitized versions of the nativity leave out, like Mary being a teen mom, Joseph at first wanting to stone her for adultery, the violence of the times, or actually showing Mary in the pains of giving birth and not cutting to her lying Jesus in the manger. It gives much more of a human element to the story than a spiritual one. Regardless of how you feel about Jesus or faith, it's a good story about a man being faithful and supportive to his wife, a woman being incredibly brave and facing all the prejudices and scorn women had in that time (and still do in some parts of the world), and the struggles of poor refugees fleeing from violence. Very relevant. Only thing they should've also mentioned was that if Jesus was real, he wouldn't have been born on December 25. Given that people were reporting to Bethlehem for the census/tax and that shepherds were tending to their flocks at night, it's more likely that Jesus was born in a summer month, probably June. Maybe Christmas should actually be celebrated on the summer solstice instead of the winter one!
I know this is a movie but everytime I see this scene I as a grown adult man tear up at the sight of baby Jesus! If I could go back in time to one place in time only I would choose this. To see Our Lord Jesus, God in the flesh, God with us for the first time! I often wonder what it was like to see Him and know that this beautiful little baby was Gods Son!

Merry Christmas, one and all! Today, we celebrate the birth of Jesus! Praise God for such a gift, for such a sacrifice He made for the world, to give up His own son so we may have eternal life!! Why did God do this? Because HE LOVES US ALL! Thank you, God for the greatest gift anyone has ever given, in the history of this world! Jesus taught us all to be humble, by the way He was born. He was born in a stable, of all places, and He wasn't born in the hay. He was born in a manger, where animals feed. Shepherds were considered the lowest of humans back then, but the Angels told them of Jesus' birth FIRST, out of all the people in the world!! Humility is what we are to learn from such a miraculous birth. In The Bible, it is written that those who are great shall be made humble, and those who are humble shall be made great. God will boost the lowest of humans up! Conversly, He will take down a king or queen, or the rich man or woman! Thank you God for such a great lesson in life! I go to a Catholic school and when I was in fourth grade we watched this and when Joseph lifted up Jesus everybody broke into laughter because you could see his butt!

Merry Christmas, one and all! Today, we celebrate the birth of Jesus! Praise God for such a gift, for such a sacrifice He made for the world, to give up His own son so we may have eternal life!! Why did God do this? Because HE LOVES US ALL! Thank you, God for the greatest gift anyone has ever given, in the history of this world! Jesus taught us all to be humble, by the way He was born. He was born in a stable, of all places, and He wasn't born in the hay. He was born in a manger, where animals feed. Shepherds were considered the lowest of humans back then, but the Angels told them of Jesus' birth FIRST, out of all the people in the world!! Humility is what we are to learn from such a miraculous birth. In The Bible, it is written that those who are great shall be made humble, and those who are humble shall be made great. God will boost the lowest of humans up! Conversly, He will take down a king or queen, or the rich man or woman! Thank you God for such a great lesson in life! We must always be humble, as the most humble birth in history was of a child who turned into THE KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS!
